Subject: Kerry's last chance to windsurf

Hi Bart,
Hope you and Mrs. Bart are well. I am writing to offer a point or two of disagreement.

On the subject of windsurfing;
Kerry believes he will be elected. If he is president he will take the job seriously, unlike Bush Minor,
and vacations will be out the window for the eight years he serves his nation. Combined with the security
concerns of protecting President Kerry from the McVeigh-Koresh Republicans, he may well see this
summer's trip to the ocean as his last opportunity to do something he is good at and enjoys.
Funny, but I can't name anything that meets both those criteria for George the Lesser.

You contend (and here I am summarizing, correct me if I'm wrong) that the Kerry-Edwards campaign
are not fighting back against the slurs and slanders of acting president Cheney and his hand puppet press.
I disagree.

Within hours of the closing of the old-time revival meeting in New York, AKA the Republican National
Convention, John Kerry and John Edwards were at a huge open air rally in Ohio doing just what you
claim they have failed to do; fighting back.

Two points:
Maybe you'd agree that this was Kerry's first shot fired in a months-long war?
Yes, I'm glad he finally said something, but that certainly doesn't negate the criticism
that he's been dormant and ineffective for what - four months?
I'll take any sign of life from Kerry I can get, but this was a post-midnight rebuttal.
Maybe his next attack will come when people are awake.

They did this with eloquence and well thought out arguments. They spoke in front of a crowd that were
not censored and forced to sign letters of support. They did it in public with no tele-prompters, no
rising from the grave special effects stages, no billionaires in furs cheering them with Martini
glasses in hand. They spoke with feeling and they offered an alternative to the four years of
rudderless, policy free Republican mismanagement we have suffered through.

I didn't hear pink tutu words from Kerry or Edwards last night. Here are some great sound bites from that
midnight rally. Midnight Bart; that's hours after Bush has knocked back his night cap, counted his campaign
bribes de jour and gone to bed with his blankey.

Kerry attacked the lack of substance at the RNC costume ball:
"For three days in New York, instead of talking about jobs and the economy, we heard anger and insults
from the Republicans. And I'll tell you why. It's because they can't talk about the real issues facing
Americans. They can't talk about their record because it's a record of failure."

I like hearing that - I wonder if he read that on  bartcop.com? :)

Kerry gave George and Dick's liar boat cabin boys a red bum:
"We all saw the anger and distortion of the Republican Convention. For the past week, they
attacked my patriotism and my fitness to serve as commander in chief. Well, here's my answer.
I'm not going to have my commitment to defend this country questioned by those who refused to serve
when they could have and by those who have misled the nation into Iraq. The vice president even called me
unfit for office last night. I guess I'll leave it up to the voters whether five deferments makes someone more
qualified to defend this nation than two tours of duty."

Good, but wordy.

How about, "When I was getting shot at in Vietnam, where were George and Dick?"
He needs to say that a few times, then when he says, "When I was getting shot at in Vietnam...
the crowd will answer, "...where were George and Dick?"

That will make the evening news.
Then, when they get to the debates, Kerry can ask Bush that question directly.
Could be the biggest knockout since Carter vs Ford,

Spine? Here is some real backbone:
"Let me tell you what I think makes someone unfit for duty. Misleading our nation into war in Iraq makes
you unfit to lead this nation. Doing nothing while this nation loses millions of jobs makes you unfit to lead this nation.
Letting 45 million Americans go without health care makes you unfit to lead this nation. Letting the Saudi royal family
control our energy costs makes you unfit to lead this nation. Handing out billions of government contracts to
Halliburton while you're still on their payroll makes you unfit."

That's good stuff!
Kerry seems to be waking up and perhaps ready to launch the fight!

Kerry is our best and only shot. Smack him for his short comings after the election but please until then,
get your eye back on the ball and get back to spreading the truth about the Bush regime. With the Ranting
Right media outnumbering moderate and Liberal voices by 3 or 4 to one, we need you to swing the hammer
at those who would steal our country and lead the world into their new age; the Endarkenment.

Kindest regards,
Faun Otter

Point taken, and if I was a vulgar Pigboy with an out-of-control ego, I might try to convince people
that my weeks/months of prodding Kerry to wake up had something to do with his turnaround.

In the last 2-3 weeks, I've heard lots of pundits ask why Kerry was afraid to fight back.
Remember the talk a few days ago about the staff shake-up because he was doing so badly?
Maybe Kerry heard the restlessness in the ranks and decided to begin the fight.

Lastly, I appreciate your style.
Suggesting that I ease up on Kerry and attack Bush more often is much easier to take
than barking orders at me and expecting me to beg for forgiveness.

You're a man of honor and intellect.
