Open Letter to Customers #2

Dear Chuy's Customers:

We know that many of you were surprised by the recent events involving
President and Mrs. Bush's daughters at one of our restaurants in Austin.
We appreciate your concerns, and we want to thank you for taking the time
to contact us to voice them.  We have done our best to respond to all of the
inquiries we have received.

It is in this same spirit of openness that we would like to provide you with
our perspective on this matter.  It is our sincere hope that we can all put
this behind us, so that we can get back to the business of taking care of
customers and serving the best Mexican food we can.

There are three things we hope you will understand:

1. Chuy's has a very firm policy that strictly prohibits serving alcohol to minors.
We take very stringent measures to ensure that this policy is properly followed
by all of our employees, and we are proud of their track record in enforcing it.

2. Our staff acted responsibly in not allowing minors to drink at Chuy's.
However, we deviated from our normal protocol when we used 911 to call the police.
Please understand that these were unusual circumstances that created added pressures
for our staff.  We are taking proactive steps to ensure that our staff is better prepared
to handle situations like this in the future.

3. We have always believed that this should have been a private matter for the Bush family.
We respect their privacy, and we regret the circumstances that contributed to making this so public.

Lastly, we want you to know that your business is very important to us, and
we care deeply about your concerns.  After all, we wouldn't be in business
if it weren't for you.  We hope you will continue to visit our restaurants.

Sincerely,

Mike and John

I'm not sure this is the same pride that saved the Alamo,
but the grovelling has come down to an almost-acceptable level.

Congrats on half a spine, Mike & John
