Just finished reading Molly Ivin's July 4th article, "Our Great, Weird Nation". Thought provoking as usual.
   In her article she quoted Franklin Delano Roosevelt  as saying: "The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the
people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic State itself.
That, in its essence, is Fascism — ownership of government by an individual, by a group or by any controlling
private power."

   Take this comment and apply it to the Bush Cartel. Follow the money and you find a massive, organized Private
Institution playing politicians and media propagandizers like marionettes. This institution has many heads, like the
mythical hydra. Cut one off and another grows. While preaching a fair,free market philosophy they quietly strangle
upstarts that dare to challenge them. If that doesn't work they try and absorb them, and turn them, ultimately, to
their own ends. Using their unlimited wealth and access they use the system to legally bribe elected representatives
into looking the other way and, often, to actively shill for them.

  Selling out the people's interest to the free market theology, attended closely by their religious social engineers,
they flaunt their power with forthright Indignity. They sit softly on their gilded cushions, with lackeys and minions
rushing about, covering up their unlawful transgressions with Official Communications to the outside world. All the
while, craving MORE power and control. More acquisitions of  land and resources. More direct social control of the
unwashed masses. More diversions and dangers fot the contemptible Hoi Polloi.

   These Jackals I shall always hold in contempt. While preaching the dangers of all things "Socialist", they continue
a policy of forced consumerism and a deepening divide between the rich and the poor, primarily using cut-throat
economic tactics.  All the while forcing their seriously deluded Christian public relations act down our throats. Hey!
It's O.K. if your life sucks, if you accept Jesus and just behave, a glorious after-life awaits! Do not worry about the
obvious  Moral Problems that arise when we  support a Fascist entity that has taken secular control of our
government! They'll include us, and give us money to help the dishevelled Losers and Drug Addicts that our
warped society produces. Of which, you may soon be one! Statistics don't lie.

   The Bush-Cheney View of a New Deal. Faith Based Free Market Control. Backed by a growing Police State and a
prosperous private Industrial Gulag, with modern electronic 'storm troopers' to spread their comprehensive
Propaganda, they continue their drain on funds to maintain trusted government programs first inspired by the
courage of men like FDR. Their stated intention of drilling in protected areas even slaps Republican icon Teddy
Roosevelt's memory in the face.

   FDR led a free nation into a war to help rid the world of the very same dangers we are now facing.
We're staring this monster in the eye, right now.

Would FDR blink?
