Bart,

NO, NO, a 1000 Times NO!

I don't know what those other slackers out there are doing, but I read
you each and EVERY DAY!!!! Pulleeze! Do NOT take weekends off!

Anne

Bart I DO read every issue every day. I give you priority over the Washington Post.
The only time since March that I haven't read you daily was when I spent a week at the beach in June.
When I returned, I spent a blissful day just catching up on the week's worth of issues I missed.
You are my favorite place on the internet!  No lie!

Hey, Bartcop,

I read you every day!

Sarah

...but we're not used to having weekend issues, so some of us don't look.
I look about 50% of the time, however I'm always coming back to link to this or that,
so I'm surprised when I find weekend issues.  I've noticed that sometimes they appear,
sometimes they don't.  It's a pleasant surprise when there's a sunday issue.
But if I didn't find it on Sunday, I probably wouldn't think to look at "back issues".

About the HEX.  I know this sounds crazy.  Yes, it does.  But I hated Ronald Reagan so much
that I actually stuck pins in a voodoo doll named "Ronald Reagan" - in its legs.
Next day, he had phlebitis and fell down the steps on Air Force One and had to have surgery.
I'll swear!
I realize this isn't scientific proof, but it seems to  work.   ???

/b

I read bartcop at least once a day!
There have been weekends when you don't post on Sundays so I'm never sure, but I check anyway.
I check out your alerts religiously. Don't think I'll watch the teenagers tonight.

Loved your Bubba photo.

You also had something about meds through the VA  that has us worried.

I must admit I scroll past some things that aren't relevant to this old lady,
but your follow-ups on Julie Hiatt Steele are excellent.
You're just an old softy.

Harlene (nanaleni0

I hate the thought...
of weekends without Bartcop.

Love your work...

-Erika

Why not do a couple of important weekend stories and then do a "best of Bartcop".....hey it works for radio personalities.   They do shows five days a week and then it's "the best of John Boy and Billy"  or whoever on weekends..    Just an Idea.    I love seeing your reaction to the republicunts on the weekends  but I know even Bartcop would like to have a weekend off.   Keep up the good work........P.S......I don't mind if you know who I am....but this is a new email address and I really don't want SPAM so please hide my address if you put this on your page.   Thanks Bartcop

Bartcop,

What ??!! Take the weekends off ?!
The curse of King George must be rubbing off on you.

Are you aware that the asshole in the White House only 'works' twenty to thirty minutes a day;
the rest is spent 'napping, working out and keeping in touch with Daddy.'

The number one moron had to go on vacation after undergoing such strenuous 'deliberating'
on what to do about those stem cells.

The number one moron does not believe in working on weekends(does it believe in any energy exertion ?!).
Please, please do not stop your excellent ranting and raving; somebody has to do it !!!

bikertrash

Hi  BC,

How about doing a" weekend " issue --  you get a day off and we get half a fix.

Thank you for all your effort -- it really helps keep me pissed off enough to help
do something about it next time around.

adrienne /la,ca

I read you every day and am disappointed when you are even late with the new issue.
That said I would really be sorry if you got burnt out.
So if you want weekends off please enjoy yourself and be fresh for Monday.

Gary in Seattle

I did notice the extra effort this weekend and appreciated it.
Maybe regular readers, like me, don't expect full weekend issues, so they don't check in.
If you have the time, keep up the full weekend coverage and promote the fact that you're doing so, as you did today.
After a month or so, if it looks like it isn't worth the effort, make a decision.

Anyway, thanks,

Jerry

Bartcop,

I read your site every single day.
If you don't produce an issue on the weekend days, that would be a bummer.

Chow

Don't take the weekends off.
I crave a daily dose and jones over the weekends if there's nothing new up!

BC,

I almost always read the weekend issues and would miss it if you did them.
But you do deserve the break so I won't whine if you decide YOU want weekends off! :)

Fan

bc,

I normally read your stuff on the weekend (as well as daily), but didn't
this weekend.  So, there were three pages of new stuff (I took Friday
off) today.  Good Monday, at least for me.  You got me going on some
stuff (that Enron water thing, for example, is BS - they lost their
shirt on a bet that didn't come through.  Not that Enron wouldn't like
to stick the knife into Gray Davis, who, BTW, is looking better and
better for reelection in 2002).

It seems to me that your weekend stuff is less voluminous than
weekdays.  I do enjoy your rants on the Sunday yap shows, since I don't
have the tolerance to watch them.

So, to get to your question (applause), keep doing weekends if you enjoy
writing them.  I enjoy reading them.

Thanks for all of your good work.
Lou

Hi Bart,
I hope you don't decide to stop your updates in weekends.  I read you EVERY DAY, without fail.
( if I miss a day, which is not very often, I ALWAYS go back and read the previous issue)

You are the voice of reason for most of us, hell, even C-Span is sells for Bush nowdays.
So, please continue to grow the hammer bigger, even on weekends.
(remember, we have no free press anymore)

Judi

Hell no!

I read Bartcop 7 days a week and can't live without it.
Don't take the weekends off unless Mrs. Bartcop makes you!

Bev

Dear BC;

Of course I read bartcop every day. You bring some humor into this miserable political overthrow
we have to put up with the next 3.5 years (and I sincerely hope you are still around then)!

I was surprised to see that you were putting out issues Sat and Sun, so I look forward to reading them.
But if its a big help for you to knock off on the weekends and have a Chinaco or 2 or 3... then you deserve it.

Maybe you could have a bigger than normal Monday release and do something extra
like the 10 Conservative Idiots the DU does...

Well, you take care, and keep up the good work.

George Armstrong

I read you 7 days a week (No text)

I understand that the weekend is needed to rejuvenate the mind, body and
soul.  I will certainly understand if you choose to do this, it will break my
heart, but I will understand.  I am listening to our local 5:00 PM news and
they are explaining how the mayor of St. Paul (Norm Coleman, R, Turncoat
Democrat) feels that we should ignore the Klan gathering at our state capitol
this coming Saturday.  He feels that if the Nazi mentality is ignored that all will
be well. I  feel since the ideology of the Repugnant Party is more closely aligned
with Klan mentality, it is far better to stop the Ban the Klan protest than it would
be to tell the bullies and thugs of the Klan to take their obnoxious gathering back
under the rock from whence they came.  I am not aware of any place in history
when the schoolyard bully did not retreat until someone stood up to them,
but maybe that is the ultimate Repugant plan.

Patricia B

I, for one, didn't know that there were Saturday AND Sunday issues;
please consider keeping the weekend issues as I have been reading them six days a week.

Thanks,

Al

Weeeellllllllllll, I'll take what I can get, but the weekend hits certainly include mine.
But I realize this is a labor of love(?) and I don't want to strain the machine.

Dick Paddock

I read bartcop every day (stop laughing!).
Hell, no, you shouldn't take weekends off.
Why stop hammering on weekends?

I like the weekend issues.
I vote to keep them.

I usually check in daily, but people are busier on the weekends, and may not have time to log on.
Also, it's summer and if the weather is nice, people aren't indoors on the computer
(they are outside on their cell phones on the golf course or at the beach).

Have you noticed a difference in weekend hits during the winter versus summer months?
Maybe you should take weekends off during the summer?
Tex

You ask "Should we take weekends off?"

My answer: NO!

Hey, you're going to punish half of us because the other half aren't doing their homework??
That sounds like a Karl Rove domestic policy initiative or a Babs Olsen legal strategy.

Just a suggestion-- there are some Web sites that don't post on weekends,
and I didn't realize yours did until just recently.

You want people to read Sat. & Sun.?
Put a big reminder at the TOP, not the bottom, of the Monday (and Tues) page.

Jane

BC,

I don't see how you can put out an issue every day of the week,
without going nuts - assuming you haven't gone nuts already ;^)

If you don't publish on weekends, those who don't hit your page on weekends
will then have the "benefit" of reading every issue.

Sure, I love reading a new issue every day that I sit down to the computer including weekends,
but somehow I can probably live without my weekend Bartcop,  & so can your fans, & so can
your ditto-monkey friends, who are no doubt monitoring you for thoughtcrime.

You deserve some free time - take the weekends off if you want. I'm sure the weekday issues
will be that much better, right?

Thanks for the time & energy you put into Bartcop.com.

-Ron

Dear Bartcop,

Please don't take weekends off unless you want to.
I read you almost every day--you keep me sane and give me at least one good laugh a day.

Just my $0.02.

--- Erin

Unless you really need the break or Mrs. BC really, I mean really needs you.
I say  NO NO NO NO NO NO.

Like I've said in the past "A day without bartcop is like, well it's just to horrible to think about."

Robin

Get a life.
You'll be fresher for the Mon.-Fri. grind.

keep'em up, they are appreciated. if it doesn't seem like it's worth the effort, how about having "guest editors" who would be responsible for content or something like that, on a given weekend day. For example: I am greatly in favour of legalizing industrial hemp, and would love to research and put together an in-depth issue on the issue. or there could be a weekly debate topic, where people could express their views on a given topic or question...or a weekend mailbag of sorts.
reader rants and rebuttals. it could even have it's own mailbox
i greatly enjoy having a page that updates every day.
since i am disabled, weekends are like every other day.

on another note-
i'm a dish network subscriber as well. do you use the tv guide webpage?
i find it works pretty well, and it has a good search function. here's the address i use for central time listings:

i don't know if it relies on cookies to read your preferences or not.

just rambling...
vance.

Hey BC:

Yeah, I read you most every day because I access you from home, not at work.  But sometimes
I go a few days without getting on line (whaaaat!??!), and then I go back in your issues until I find
where I left off previously.  Even so, since you asked for our two cents, I'd say go ahead and take
the weekends off; as you do an incredible amount of work on this site on a daily basis, you truly
deserve it.  Of course, the downside of that could be that on Mondays you might be swamped with
stuff that you would have normally posted over the weekend, and that might chew up an inordinate
of time, so you might want to take that into consideration.  It's up to you, but I'd take the weekends off
- even the Defender of the Sane World should have some time off for himself and his wife - and his Chinaco...

Rock on,

d

Bart,

I read almost every day, weekends included.
But If it would make the tree house a little richer, i.e., give you more time to think things out
-- by all means take the weekends off.  I have this fear that you're gonna burn yourself out.

I don't know how you do it.

-- pipe

BC,

While I appreciate the fact that everybody needs some R&R time off, I'd have to
cast my vote for keeping up with the weekend issues. If I am unable to catch
them on the weekend I catch them Monday morning (in fact, I don't read the
current Monday issue, I go to the most recent issue I've read (be it Friday
Saturday or Sunday) first to see if I missed any add-ins, when I'm up-to-date I
head back to the current issue. I definitely appreciate the weekend issues.

Thanks,

Ken

Bart,

I read you every day. I love your page and it is usually the first
one I go to when I come on. I know that putting this together is probably a
real pain. I would appreciate an edition every day but I realize that time
off is nice. I will check your site every day whether or not you publish a
new page or not. Thanks for your time.

A loyal reader
Art

Just so you know, I read BartCop everyday, always checking in for new stuff
and any good links that are dug up.  I appreciate you doing weekend issues
and I read those at well, but hey - we all need time off.  I get Saturday
and Sunday off, so I wouldn't have any problem about you getting yours.  =-)

Dann-Brown

You write, I'll read them.
But if you want the time off, that's cool too!

eom

I gotta have my daily bartcop fix.

What if you put links to the weekend editions at the top of the Monday page?

Regards,
Tom

For the love of GOD!! DON'T DO IT!!!

I read'em all.
If not on the weekends, early Monday morning.

Gore Vidal was on NPR said all the things you have been saying about the media, smirk etc.etc.
Wonder if he reads you??????????
Adios

 joeb

I am one of those "at work" readers (but I'm allowed:  I own the Company).
So I rarely read Sat and Sun, and don't have time to read 3 on Monday.

So what I'm saying is, OK by me if you take the weekends off.
Maybe there would be more material for Monday?

Whatever, keep up the great work -- you are indispensable!

Larry

Bart,

I would guess most of your readers are at work, it helps us stay sane.
Personally, I check out everything that's been posted over the weekend with
my Monday morning coffee.  It gets me going.  I do have a suggestion, though.

Why not put together a "Weekend Edition", and post it Sunday morning to coincide with
the sabbath's onslaught of television propaganda. Or better yet, have it posted by Monday
morning when we all arrive to work, with a nice "Weekend Update" banner, or something,
"Weekend Summary" etc.

That would give us our BC fix first thing while we wait for your daily offering.

Keep on crankin' it out,

TommyB

Please don't.

Just thought I'd sound off.  :)
I'm one of the folks who make a habit of hitting the Previous Issue link just to make sure
nothing was added since my last read-through... if there were a few days I missed out on,
I read back until I encounter "old news".  And I usually check in on weekends anyway.  :)

And, there *was* good stuff (really!) this weekend -- most notably was the article about
the fella who is proof of the old saying "No good deed goes unpunished".  I did some copy and
paste, and mailed the entirety of that article to my two Senators and single House Representative,
as well as forwarding the link to a mailing list, that will at least get the word out.

Now, I'd understand if you wanted to just kick back and relax on weekends,
but if you're willing to write'em, I'm willing to read'em!

Wildcat!

BartCop,

You put so much energy into your site that I'm amazed you just don't
give yourself a day off.  Although I hung around the house this weekend
(we were giving ourselves a 20th wedding anniversary party, whoo-hoo!)
and read both the Sat. and Sun. editions, most weekends we're out
kayaking north of San Francisco, communing with nature before the Poseur
we call pRez takes it all away, or makes the cost of playing prohibitive.

Bottom line:  I loved that you had new editions on the weekend, but I think you ought to
take some time off to spend with Mrs. BartCop, lest she mistake herself for abandoned.

Just make sure the Monday edition is chock-full of everything that happened over the weekend!

Cheers,
Deborah

Your Aug. 20th Issue was posted on Sun. the 19th, that's why...

I didn't go and read the back issue.  This normally doesn't seem to happen, that an issue is posted a day
early, but it did yesterday (weren't you the one bitching about other news sources reporting things early?
I know that they report things that haven't happened yet, but I couldn't resist the weak, weak jab!).

Anyway, I normally read the weekend issues on the weekends and that's why
I noticed the 20th issue being posted early.

Explanation:
My good friend JoeB in Toledo is on WebTV.
If you're on WebTV, you can't open a page that's, like 80K..
So when an issue fills up, say to 60K, I try to second-page the bigger stories.
But when it fills up even further, I just cap it and start tomorrow's issue.

Unlike the AP, you weren't really getting news from the future :)

Take the weekends off...

of course not, some of us read it every day, but we need less about the
greens.  any one with an IQ of 65 knows what happened.we need  more on
the dems. who are wimps as too what is going on is this "me now" world.

Hey man, go ahead and take the days off...
I try to heck on the weekends, but it wouldn't bother me to see ya relaxin...
maybe just toss up a few when you feel like it on non-work-days....

Hope everything is goin well 4 ya....
Love the pages....

Mike

and then some as I send your stuff to my friends and enemies.
Keep up the fight......

NOW GO AND THROW THE BUM OUT OF OFFICE -  GOD

No, don't take weekends off (unless you really want to). But, you might handle
the weekend as a single edition: just put Sunday's material at the top of the Saturday issue.

thanks again for the great site,
T.

bartcop-

I know how selfish this makes me sound, but PLEASE don't take weekends off!
I am part of the miniscule "loyal 2%" (Hey!  That sounds like a good logo for a patch on my
motorcycle jacket!  Bikers for Bartcop?  Ha ha) who is reading your stuff EVERY SINGLE DAY,
and would be at a complete loss if I were abandoned by EVERYONE on Saturdays and Sundays!

I am one of a pitiful few Democrats at the Omnichat , and your site is an EXTREMELY valuable source
of ammunition for me to use against the Mindless Flying Dittomonkeys who inhabit that site.

[Some sites don't update on weekends]
that leaves me with YOU and Buzzflash & "Bushbeer.com" (love that guy, BTW).....

But YOUR sandbox has the very BEST combination of images, links, analysis and up-to-the-minute
ammo that I can use to continue the good fight against those cunning stunts of the Vicious Far Right.

I still can't believe the low hit numbers for the weekend.  I start my day with your site,
and I end it there as well.  Maybe if you "Fonzie" the counter, it will ring up a few more hits?

This impassioned plea makes me feel very guilty that my present family situation is such that I
cannot contribute financially to help "build the pie higher".  Hopefully, that will improve at some time.
Until it does, however, please believe that you and your site are VERY important to many of us out here,
and know that as long as you keep writing it, we "2% patchholders" will be reading it every single day.

Thanks from a devoted fan,

(DFL in Omnichat)

Does the truth take weekends off?

but what the hell...take a break if it suits you

Dear Bart,

On weekends we go to our summer home which has no computer, but every Monday
I read everything that I have not read since I last logged on.  Two or three issues.
Even when I go on vacation, I read the back issues, slowly, but I usually get through them all.

If you need to take the weekends off, please do, everyone needs a break to refresh,
but we will miss you.  Maybe just summers off?

Denise

Please do not take weekends off.
I don't know how you do as much as you do and still apparently watch television.
So, if you want a rest on weekends, maybe you can take just one day off.......

On the other hand, if you do not feel that you need the rest,
we really appreciate reading Bartcop on weekends.

Frances

I'm one of the weirdos who read you Sat & Sun, and I really am glad you are a daily.
So keep it up please. I would understand if you wanted a weekend off though.
I also started working through your back issues last weekend, starting with #1.
Managed to get up to 15 I think. Eventually I'll read em all. Thanks for keeping them up.
I really got a kick out of learning that Dole translates into penis in Persian.
That was true and not a joke right?

      Keep up the good work.
Jeff the Nader voter who still enjoys da Bartster.

I'm one of those that do read the back issues.
In fact, as it seems that there are slipstream updates,
I come in twice a day to see if there is anything I might have missed.

While I love the site, for your own sanity you might want to take the weekends off.
Just give us the full poop on Mondays to get us caught up.  BTW, you are in the mid-west, right?
I'm in Chicago and I just found an actual honest to God liberal show on WGOP, er,
WLS (890 AM) on Sunday afternoons.  Skinner and Sky.

Jerry Davidson
Wizop, Democratic forum on Compuserve

Jerry, ...I, ...think I've heard of Nancy Skinner.

We would find a place for her in the BartCop Adminsitration.
 (Don't write, it's a joke - she's a babe. I'm supposed to be blind?)

If you take weekends off I will be forced to assume fetal position
and go into a coma late Friday evenings not to awaken for two long days.
Remember, not all of your fans have an actual life...

Anita Valente

I don't take the weekend off from you site. I did take a vacation and didn't check in
for two weeks but normally I check in every day. You are addictive you know.
Not as bad as a drug but I do get antsy if I haven't gotten you fix for the day.

Question

I did not see anything about Thursday night broadcast. Has that idea been dropped?
I did listen to your rant and to be honest I would rather you ditched a lot of the bad language.
I know when I get into a conversation with someone who uses the "f" word in every sentence
I start to tune him out. I don't want to do that if I am listening to you. I think your passions are
like mine (except I don't drink alcohol) so I want to hear what your views are.

Anyway, Keep up the good work. You are a God Send to this Floridian.

J. G.

JG, thanks for asking,

No, we're just having technical difficulties.
We're planning to try again a week from Thursday.
I'll give you plenty of warning.

Thanks,

Hi-
Read your site pretty regularly, even on weekends when I can.
I appreciate you working over weekend, but can relate to wanting to relax on the weekend.
Take Ms. Bartcop out on the weekend- enjoy your life

cj

ps-  like the site, interesting to say the least

Just put a link at the top for the weekends on monday for those who missed them.
I, however, read it every day from home since my school filters it.

Bastards.

David

No!
