Volume 1307 - Fresh Fish

"It's not enough for Bush to be indignant... What they need to do is take an immediate decision
to withdraw their forces from Iraq, confess the terrible injustice they have done to Iraq and
apologize in public for what their troops have done. In the end we say to them (Bush and Blair):
'Enough of your illusions. The time of empires has passed and will never return."

Rummy: More photos, even some videos in Iraq abuse scandal

"Violence is all those ragheads understand..."

The abuse scandal at Abu Ghraib prison includes more photographs and videos
that are potentially worse than the photos shown around the world of smiling American
soldiers next to naked Iraqi prisoners in humiliating positions, U.S. officials said on Friday.

At some point, the BFEE is going to have to get ahead of this scandal.
Sure, I like seeing him twist in the wind, but the whole world is boiling over those pictures.
Osama is sitting there saying, "I told you that's what all Americans are like."

Bush's old friend has out-played him every step of this battle.
The "best" part is, Osama got the war he wanted - on his terms.

Disney Forbidding Distribution of Film That Criticizes Bush

The Walt Disney Company is blocking its Miramax division from distributing a new documentary by
Michael Moore that harshly criticizes President Bush, executives at both Disney and Miramax said Tuesday.

The film, "Fahrenheit 911," links Mr. Bush and prominent Saudis - including the bin laden family  -
and criticizes Mr. Bush's actions before and after the Sept. 11 terrorist

 Boycott Disney!

 To: Disney CEO Michael Eisner

We are outraged that you would block the distribution of Michael Moore's film Fahrenheit 911
because it criticizes George W. Bush and could lead to his defeat (again) in November.

We understand your right-wing Republican bias: your local AM talk radio stations broadcast Republican propaganda all day long.

We also understand your corrupt motive: you are afraid Gov. Jeb Bush will cancel the lucrative tax breaks Disney gets in Florida.

You are censoring one of the most important filmmakers in America. This is unacceptable in a democracy.

As consumers, we are not powerless. We will protest with our wallets - by boycotting Disney products until you agree to distribute Fahrenheit 911:

There may be problems, but no complaints. I'm glad I contributed.

Dick, we're trying to get Tally to do more stuff, but she's so shy.
Her boyfriend is Tommy Mack, so there is a music connection there.

Last night, we watched the Susan McDougal video - she is awesome, indeed.
It always strikes me that when she speaks, the room is more quiet than a senate
Democrat when the never-elected bastard is shredding our Constitutional protections.

Lastly, Tommy got the Mac, not me (sniff). I'm still in the Hell of Gates.
But having the Mac is what makes the radio show sound so good.

I finally had a chance to see this Canadian Broadcast Company report.
Perkel is right - this is Nazi level stuff

If the CBC is telling the truth (why would they lie?) the Northern Alliance army guaranteed
the safety of the Taliban prisoners if they surrendered. Once they did, they were packed in
semi-trailer truck up to 200 at a time and the doors were closed in the hot Afghan sun.

When the prisoners cried out that they couldn't breath, shots were fired into the trailer walls "to create air holes."
Blood ran out of the truck from those hit by gunfire - all the time the Americans stood there watching.
It's my understanding 4,000 men died this way, after being given a guarantee the UN would take them.

The narrator said a quick death would have been much better than what they got.

Our foreign policy is being run by the Iran-Contra gang - the gang who received pardons from
the head crook so the world would never know the nature of their global murders and other crimes.

Tape of 9/11 Controllers Was Destroyed

A report by Transportation Department Inspector General Kenneth Mead said the manager for
the New York-area air traffic control center asked the controllers to make the recordings a few
hours after the crashes in belief they would be important for law enforcement.

Investigators never heard it. Sometime between December 2001 and February 2002, an unidentified
Federal Aviation Administration quality assurance manager crushed the cassette case in his hand,
cut the tape into small pieces and threw them away in multiple trash cans, the report said.

What was on those tapes that we weren't supposed to hear?

Ohio Priest Pleads Innocent to Nun's Slaying
"I did not murder than nun, Sister Mary Ann..."

  Click  Here

A Catholic priest in Ohio pleaded not guilty on Friday to murdering an elderly nun
24 years ago in what police have said may have been a ritualistic slaying.

Robinson is charged in the murder of Sister Margaret Ann Pahl, 71, who was killed
during Easter weekend 1980 in the chapel of a hospital where she and Robinson worked.

Sister Margaret was strangled, then covered with an altar cloth and stabbed several times
along the neck and torso, the Toledo Blade reported citing unnamed sources.

Wow - this has "ABC Movie" written all over it.
Let's get Charlton Heston to play the ritualistic killer and Kato Burn could play the strangled nun.

 Subject: that nail gun picture

I realize that a fancypants elitist like yourself has never actually gotten any closer to a nail gun
than watching Bob Vila use one, but I can believe it was an accident. I can't believe the guy lived
 but the story sounds plausible.

If he fell on top of the other guy who was holding the gun, I can see the guy holding the trigger down
by accident while the waving the thing around trying to get away. Those things have a hair trigger that
would make your little popgun seem like pulling the hand brake on a runaway train.

You just touch the trigger and you fire off a few nails without even knowing it. I once sent a flurry
over and across busy Rt.1 in Jersey City on a job by accident. Luckily, the gun was so powerful
they landed well on the other side on the highway in a field. I'd still be in jail.

You're starting to sound like Rush,
 Rude Rich

Dude, did you look at the picture?

My two cents worth as to my 'sense' of the Iraqi POW furor
   by Eddy the Pillar

  Click  Here

I've been trying to find a difference with the posters on the internet who have (correctly, in my view)
compared these images with those taken from other (and not so distant) eras of lynching victims
(usually black) with their white lynchers and bystanders (including children).  So far, I can't.

These tortures and the lynching audiences had two factors in common for me.
 A) Those posing with the victims saw nothing wrong with what they were associating themselves with and
2--homage to The Tappet Brothers!) Those posing with the victims believed there would be NO CONSEQUENCES to their posing.

I think the second is very important because, as James Loewen (author of "Lies My Teacher
Told Me" and "Lies Across America") among others has pointed out, what IS a lynching but a PUBLIC murder?

 Ted Rall went too far

That first panel alone is an outrage.
If my good friend Ted Rall knows for a fact that Tillman was a bigoted, blood-thirsty
bastard who was looking forward to "killing some Arabs," then this might be legit.

Without knowing that for a fact, this cartoon is an outrage and I'd like to hear Ted
defend himself because on the surface, this reminds me of Rush's "White House dog" joke.

Ted says, "Tillman falsely believed Bush's wars had something to do with 9-11."
He's saying Tillman was fooled, so why beat up on the dead guy?

Tillman gave up stardom, a cushy lifestyle and multi-millions of dollars to help his country
and Rall thinks that sacrifice should be peed on?

Was Audie Murphy a bad guy?
Was Bob Dole a fool to help his country in WWII?

Ted reminds me of Maureen Dowd and Christopher Hitchens (not a compliment).
He hates Clinton, and he hates Bush, so who does he like?
It's hard to take the measure of a man when he seems to hate everybody.

 Sidebar in a Sidebar:
This is not a declaration of war between  bartcop.com  and Ted Rall.
Ted is an enormous talent and I enjoy his attacks on Bush, but attacking
a man who gave up riches to die for his country is extremely uncool.

Ted, I doubt you read  bartcop.com  but I'll bet someone who knows you does,
so drop me a note and defend this outrage if you're still anti-Tillman.

Contact me at sam@bartcop.com and I'll print your e-mail and apologize if you can make your case.

If you're a total dove who wouldn't even fight to save the lives of his kids,
just send a one-word e-mail saying "dove" and I'll understand completely

If you, Ted Rall, were killed defending your country, ...we should call you an idiot and a sap?

Ted Rall got hundreds of death threats over Tillman comic

  Click  Here

Rall said the responses to the cartoon started out "extremely negative," with critical responses
outweighing positive ones by nearly 100-to-1. But he said the tide has since turned, and now about
80 percent of the reaction has been supportive, which he called "the natural ebb and flow of this kind of thing."

I don't believe he's now getting an 80 percent positive response to that comic.
Surely 95 percent of the GOP hated it, and that's half the country.

Ted Rall says he has received hundreds of death threats over a comic he did this week that
satirized the media's response to the death of Pat Tillman. Rall addressed the controversy on his Web site,
saying his cartoon was a "reaction to the extraordinary lionizing of Mr. Tillman as a national hero."

 No, that dog won't hunt.
When you put words of hate in a just-died war hero's mouth, you're not criticizing the media.
You were clearly gunning for the "sap" and the "idiot" who said no to material wealth and went
to Afghanistan to sleep in a cold cave after leaving his wife and kids (?) and three hot meals a day.

Ted, you got some 'splainin' to do and I think you owe Tillman's family an apology.

 Bush-League Lysenkoism
The White House bends science to its will by the editors of  ScientificAmerica.com

  Click  Here

In February his White House received failing marks in a statement signed by 62 leading scientists,
including 20 Nobel laureates, 19 recipients of the National Medal of Science, and advisers to the
Eisenhower and Nixon administrations. It begins, "Successful application of science has played a
large part in the policies that have made the United States of America the world's most powerful
nation and its citizens increasingly prosperous and healthy. Although scientific input to the government
is rarely the only factor in public policy decisions, this input should always be weighed from an objective
and impartial perspective to avoid perilous consequences.... The administration of George W. Bush has,
 however, disregarded this principle."

 The monkey can't think.
He dislikes "intellectuals" and "elites" who became doctors in their scientific fields.
He refuses to listen to the experts because, like Reagan, he makes up his mind first
and then disregards all advice from smarter people which, in his case, is everybody.

He also considers it "disloyal" if you're right and he's wrong.

Bush's American soldier body count in Iraq

767  768 dead American soldiers.

...because of Bush's insatiable greed

US soldiers abused young girl at Iraqi prison?

  Click  Here

He said: "They brought a 12-year-old girl into our cellblock late at night. Her brother was a prisoner in the other cells.

"She was naked and screaming and calling out to him as they beat her. Her brother was helpless and could only hear her cries.
This affected all of us because she was just a child.

The allegations cannot be verified independently but Mr al-Baz maintains psychological and physical violence were commonplace in the jail.
He also claims that a father and his 15-year-old son were tortured in front of his cell.
He said: "They made the son carry two jerry cans full of water. An American soldier had a stick and when he stopped, he would beat him.

"He collapsed so they stripped him and poured cold water over him. They brought a man who was wearing a hood.
They pulled it off. The son was shocked to see it was his father and collapsed.

"When he recovered, he now saw his father dressed in women's underwear and the Americans laughing at him.

Mr al-Baz claims the guards at the prison were keen to take photographs of the abuse and turned it into a competition.

Bush in panic to curb torture scandal

  Click  Here

"President Bush went on Arab TV yesterday in a desperate attempt to quell the growing scandal
over abuse of Iraqi prisoners. But as he condemned it as "abhorrent" and not a reflection of
"the America I know", more disturbing details were emerging of savagery at the notorious Abu
Ghraib prison in Baghdad. A captive is said to have been battered to death and then wrapped
in ice and Cellophane in an apparent bid to disguise the brutality.

At least 14 deaths of US captives in Afghanistan and Iraq are now put down to American ill-treatment
or are under investigation. Ten possible cases of abuse are being probed. Yesterday - heightening
Mr Bush's discomfort - US military investigators revealed a full rundown of the abuse at Abu Ghraib,
from where pictures of sexual humiliation shocked the world when shown on CBS last week. The dossier
detailed more than 20 kinds of offence, including the pouring of chemicals on detainees, use of dogs to
intimidate captives, acts of sexual assault and violent beatings."

I heard the vulgar Pigboy whining yesterday that this was "being propelled by the media."
Bush has been on a five year honeymoon and the press have refused to do their damn jobs.

To this day, nobody knows how many times Bush has been arrested or convicted
because the White House refuses to answer and the press is afraid to press the issue.
