Volume 1551 - Rushmore Richard

Fri-Weekend      May  13-15, 2005                                       Mike Malloy on    AAR

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance,
and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in
our political history. There is a tiny splinter group that believes you can do these things.
Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man.
Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

 Bush's Troubling FDR 'Apology'
    by Robert Parry at  consortiumnews.com

  Click  Here

Bush's V-E Day speech on May 7 contained a dangerous and deceitful subtext that nearly
everyone in the ever-clueless U.S. news media missed as they fell over themselves to praise
the president's performance on his European trip.

Bush's troubling message was that the only real U.S. mistake in the Cold War was not to
aggressively challenge the Soviet Union right after the defeat of Germany, even if that meant
vastly more bloodshed. Bush also expressed no regret for some of the most egregious U.S.
actions in the Cold War, such as complicity in genocide in Guatemala, state terrorism in Chile
or the fearsome death toll in the Vietnam War.

By his silence on those points, Bush suggested that he saw nothing wrong in the Cold War's
most brutal anticommunist strategies, except that they weren't ruthless enough. If Bush could go
back in time, he would have been an ally of Gen. Curtis LeMay and other hard-line anticommunists
who favored crushing the Soviet Union at all costs, including the risk of nuclear war.

Subject: Dave Chappelle - Chris Rock and Richard Pryor

 I agree with Michael.
And the fact that Richard Pryor isn't still getting up on stage doesn't mean he isn't working.
You can listen to Richard Pryor from "That Nigger's Crazy" 1974,  and the man is just as relevant today.
Richard Pryor is timeless and Chris Rock would agree.

I hope Dave Chappelle can pull it together and get back up on stage to make us laugh.
But there will never be another one as good as Richard Pryor.
He is a living national treasure.

 Trudy, I agree.
Richard is the God of all comedy.
His face is alone on Comedy Mt. Rushmore.

Without Richard, comics would still be doing "My wife's cooking is so bad..." jokes.
Richard was, is, and will always be, The King.

What I meant was, of all the up-and-coming young pups, I think Chris Rock is tops
and Dave Chappelle is right behind him ...and there are some good white guys, too :).

Didn't you already just know? Didn't you already sort of see it coming? That is to say, didn't millions
of us already sense, deeper down, despite all this mad orgasm of technology and despite all this
incredible ability to stay in constant touch and despite how you can now travel almost nowhere in the
world save for remote parts of the Amazon jungle where you cannot be tracked or e-mailed or faxed
or called on the cell or FedExed a package from Amazon.com, don't you just know that we are, in fact,
lowering our IQs and slaughtering brain cells like Karl Rove murders joy?"

Hey Smirk, tell him the one Adolph told Grandpa Prescott.

 Indignation grows over British Memo
Bush and Blair never saw diplomacy as an option with Hussein.

  Click  Here

Reports that Bush and the Blair poodle agreed by July 2002 to invade Iraq
appear to have blown over quickly in Britain. But in the United States, where the
BFEE was protected for weeks, there has been growing indignation among Bush critics
who say the two made a secret decision to oust Saddam nearly a year before launching
their attack, shaped intelligence to that aim and never seriously intended to avert the war.

The picture that emerges from the documents is of a British government convinced of the
U.S. desire to go to war and Blair's agreement to it, subject to several specific conditions.

In other words, the Poodle did what his master ordered him to do.

"The right wing Republicans are just plain perverted: Former wife of David Hager
claims he continually sodomized her against her will. Hager is Bush's "Family values"
appointee to the Advisory Committee for Reproductive Health Drugs in the FDA.
Anti-Abortion  terrorists having sex with mules? GOP congressmen choking their mistresses?
Anti-gay Repub mayor accused of`child molestation and paying gays for sex?
They are all psychotic! This is a major story from "The Nation." "But it was the painful,
invasive, totally nonconsensual nature of the [anal] sex that was so horrible."
Whoa! Lock up the women and children; the Republicans are in town."

 I like the new format.
Your current one is okay but the new one is easier on the eyes.

The new format being forged between the artists, the managers and without
a doubt - the most dangerous mind on the internet - Marc Perkel.

 That could pop up Monday.
(I need a weekend with training wheels to get a running start at it.)

I read a ton of stuff each day both on my job and for entertainment.
 GuitarBob is only one opinion.

I have been a loyal reader since 1998. I was living in the Caribbean for 2 years
and Bartcop was one of a few sites that kept me sane through 4, category IV storms.
The power would go out but the phone lines ran on DC batteries.
 Thank Koresh!

Do what you need to do to keep the hammer banging.

"I am not so arrogant to think that I should impose my judgment and perspective

 Subject: women's rights

 Yeah. Right.
It's all about ~Women~ and your fond concern for their ~Rights~.

Thoughtful of you [wish you'd show a little of that compassion to the babies
 - or to making a world worth having a crack baby in]. Somehow I don't get the
impression that you send money to orphanages or inner city restoration projects.

Insert vile names for greedy republican assholes like myself here____ [in leu of reply]

Robb, I knew you weren't a gal from your disgust for women's rights.

As far as helping the children, that's what "worthless social programs" are for.
I support them, I assume you follow Rush's lead and say, "Fuck 'em, I got mine."

Tell me - what if there was a law in America that for you, Robb, in order to change jobs,
you would have to obtain written permission from a woman to make that happen?

I'll bet your reaction would be "Fuck that - I don't need some bitch's permission
to work wherever the hell I want to work. What's wrong with those uppity bitches?"

Men have no right to tell women what to do with their bodies, especially men who are
religiously insane, trying to please other religiously-insane people or some non-existent God.

Since you were born with a penis (probably) you think you're King Shit.
How do you think women feel - always having to ask permission from a man?

Almost half the men in America consider their woman their property.
 That's what this is about.
If men could get pregnant abortion would be a sacrament.

Rice: Sorry about flushing the Koran
Torture/abuse at Gitmo causes Afghan riots

  Click  Here

Kinda Sleazy Rice urged Muslims around the world to resist calls for violence from
people outraged by a report that interrogators at Gitmo had desecrated the Koran.

American torturers at Gitmo reportedly put Korans in toilets and in at least one case flushed
the holy book away, triggering violent demonstrations in Afghanistan, where seven people have
died in related violence. The Pakistani government has also formally protested.

"I am asking that all our friends around the world reject to violence because America is the only
country that has a right to use violence on helpless countries," she mocked with a smirk and a giggle

"I want to speak directly to Muslims in America and throughout the world. Disrespect for the
Holy Koran is not now, nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be tolerated by the United States,"
she lied. "Just like we'd never fake our reasons to invade a helpless, third-world country."

Rice said the allegations about desecration of the Koran were being investigated by military
authorities and "if they are proven true, we will take appropriate action."

What, you going to charge Lynndie England with this, too?
We've seen what happens when the BFEE investigates itself.
Maybe get Uncle Lee to look into it?

Just when you think Bush's torturers can't come up with new ways to outrage...

WaHoPo doing all to protect Bush

"Blair spent much of the past month on the defensive, attacked for supposedly misleading
the nation into war in Iraq and for being too smooth, too glib or in some other way unlikable."
--Washington Post, protecting their boy on the White House,    Attribution
"Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam through
military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence
and facts were being fixed around the policy."
--Excerpt from the secret Downing Street memo   Attribution

The Washington Whore Post will twist the facts every way they can to protect Bush.
Were they purchased by the Moonies like the Washington Times?

I'm so old, I remember when  the Post uncovered corruption.
Now they do all they can do help the crooked president fool the people.

Shame on the Washington Whore Post.
 Shame, shame, shame.

 Subject: Sears

My Sears Mastercard statement came recently with this message (REALLY!):

If you pay more than the total minimum due (but less than calculated acct balance.)
we may apply excess amount to future total min due sums for up to 2 months.

I just copied it exactly from my March statement.
If I want to pay down the balance, how can I?
Sounds a lot like 'theft by conversion'.

Chriss, welcome to Bush's Amerikka, where "Screw the little guy" is the official motto.

 Hackworth supported our troops

  Click  Here

When Hack questioned the Bush on Iraq and Afghanistan, the criticism was coming from
a man who literally wrote the books ("The Vietnam Primer" and "Steel My Soldiers Hearts")
on guerrilla warfare. In a time when billions of dollars are being shoveled into buying weapons
that are unneeded and unworkable on a battlefield, Hackworth knew - again, from years in
combat experience - that every battle from Lexington and Concord to the Sunni Triangle is
won or lost by the man with the rifle - the infantryman.

That was why, of all the awards bestowed upon Hackworth, he was proudest of his Combat
Infantryman Badge. There's only one way to get one: serve in a front-line infantry unit for 90 days
under fire and survive.    Hackworth will be buried with full military honors at Arlington on May 31

Subject:  cartoon on Volume 1550 - FL & TX

This cartoon reminds me of something I read in Eric Alterman's book "The Book on Bush"
(which is 100% excellent - I recommend it to everyone)

When the insurgents were increasing there attacks on the US, either Bush or one of his other goons said:
"You see, the more we succeed in Iraq, the more desparate they become, and the more they attack us."

So Eric points out, by that logic, if the insurgents killed every US soldier and Iraqi citizen,
the mission could be declared a complete success!

McClellan: No Need to Notify Bush
Besides, the real president had things under control

  Click  Here

On the day after more than 30,000 people -- including Unka Dick and Pickles -- were evacuated
from their offices or homes in Washington, D.C., but the president, who was tricycling in Maryland
was not notified until the threat passed, reporters grilled Press Secretary Scott McClellan at his daily briefing.

For those who might have missed it on TV here are some choice excerpts, as McClellan continually refers
to "protocols" and reporters essentially ask, "Wouldn't most men like to know when their home is
evacuated and their wife is hustled to a secure bunker?" They also wonder about the small matter
of the president being commander in chief and the capital, theoretically, coming under attack.

I'm not sure what the fuss is about.
There must be thousands of people who are able to read "My Pet Goat" in an emergency.
Why would they want the Panic Money there, screaming, "Save me, save me!"?

Rush Limbaugh said on his lil' hate show that Evanston Township High School students
''don't know anything about World War II'' and ''they've probably never heard the name Adolf Hitler''
because they're so focused on a multicultural curriculum. Some Evanston kids want to show Limbaugh
what they know. They want to debate him on American history...

'Maybe he might be a little intimidated because I don't know his basis for saying we don't know anything,"
Sarah said. "But I think he might be interested if he wants to live up to his reputation and back up his ideas
 so he doesn't look stupid.'"

Subject: Bush not told of danger

 Dear Bart:
Funny how planes were dispatched to intercept that plane almost instantly even though
Bush was uninformed.  Their cover story for why they waited over an hour to dispatch planes
to intercept the hijacked planes on 9-11 was that only Bush could order the interception and
he was reluctant to order the military to shoot down commercial passenger planes.

Bush, Cheney, Meyers and Rumsfeld all told lies intended to make us think that intercepting
a plane meant shooting it down.  This pattern of disception is compelling proof of guilty knowledge.
Check out the articles about 9-11 by the folks over at tenc.net .
Good thing they can count on the media to not point out this inconsistency.

Daniel in H-Town(?) is confusing sales, royalties and media contracts with quality of work.
U2 and Rock were ok in their day (Rock's last HBO was tiresome)
but I'll take Chappelle and Garbage any day. Cutting edge stuff.

Garbage Enthralls Madison With A Killer Show
    thanks to J. Butcher

  Click  Here

The band took the stage in near-darkness, beginning slowly with the simmering "Queer."
The show leapt to life with Marker's sneering opening chords for the second song, "Bad Boyfriend,"
as Manson strutted and vamped around the stage, part Betty Grable and part Chrissie Hynde.

Four plasma video screens and a giant LED screen behind the band played repetitive images,
such as flashing hot-button words like "slut" and "stud" during "Sex Is Not the Enemy,"
Garbage's defiant response to the  Bush's New Puritanism.

By the time Garbage hit the fourth song, the crowd favorite "Stupid Girl," the show was in high gear
and moving from one cathartic moment to the next. Manson happily strides in her red high heels along
the line between diva and rocker, exuding the charisma of the former and the raw authenticity of the latter.

 Subject: Dennis Miller fired

For someone who enjoyed and respected Dennis Miller's work as a teenager, it's sort of sad to
see him fall like this.  This was once the man who pointed out Pat Robertson and Newt's own
affairs when they were bashing Clinton for adultry, said that we must look into our own hearts to
truly decide if abortion is right or wrong, and used all kinds of neat references that I got most of the time.

Eventually I went on to other commentators, but to see Miller abandon his ideals and jump ship
was like seeing a childhood hero go to pot.

Carrie, Dennis was the architect of his fall.
He decided to bet his career on the Murder Monkey and lost.

I used to call Dennis Miller, "the funniest white man in America."
Think of the shame I feel...

 Subject: pensions

I've been downsized by CitiGroup and just by a hair, I'm supposed to be
vested in a small pension after spending 5 miserable years with them.
Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they do everything they can to screw me out of it,
before severance or retroactively like United, Firestone et al have done to their employees.

Gene, years ago, United employees conceeded a lot of their paycheck for stock options.
Those stock options were sacrificed.dowen to less than a penny on the dollar, effectively
wiping out the savings of everyone who trusted United's big shot Republican bosses.

Making things worse, pilots have to retire at 60, so they'll soon have no pension and no job.

This is what happens when a greedy Republican fucks the system.
