Foley 'October Surprise' Claim Flops
  by Robert Parry

 consortiumnews.com

 Excerpt:
The Republican "October Surprise" theory accusing Democrats of waiting until the final weeks
of Campaign 2006 to spring the Mark Foley page-sex scandal appears to have collapsed.

Republicans implied that Democrats had put congressional pages at risk by withholding Foley's e-mails
so they could be leaked only weeks before the election.  Bush added fuel to the conspiracy-theory fire
while praising Hastert. "We want to make sure we understand what Republicans knew - and what
Democrats knew - in order to find the facts," Bush said.

Bush's reference to "what Democrats knew" fit with the aggressive campaign that had raged across the
right-wing media - from Fox News to talk radio to the Internet - raising suspicions about Democrats
and thus blunting the political damage from a Republican child-sex scandal.

The speed and the breadth of that Republican counterattack recalled how valuable
the Right's three-decade investment has been in building a powerful media machine.

Bush upbeat about Nov 7 Elections
That's scary - what does he know that we don't?

 WaHoPo

 Excerpt:
Amid widespread GOP panic about the election, Bush & Rove are inexplicably upbeat.

Some Republicans on Capitol Hill are bracing for losses of 25 House seats or more.
But Rove is predicting that, at worst, Republicans will lose only 8 to 10 seats -- shy of
the 15-seat threshold that would cede control to Democrats for the first time since 1994.

Rove believes a Democratic victory in the Senate would require them to "run the table,"
to pick up the necessary six seats -- a prospect Rove regards as nearly inconceivable.

Election night 2000, after the networks rightly called the race for President Gore, Bush
summoned reporters to his hotel and guaranteed them that he was still going to win.

How did he know?

Subject: Osama and 9-11

Bart

These 9/11 conspiracy theorists smack of reverse racism to me.

A. They seem to be all saying that a bunch of towel headed camel jockeys
wouldn't be smart enough to pull something this big off.

B. My question which always goes unanswered is, how many people
would have to keep their mouths shut to pull something this big off?

Keep swinging the hammer, I may not agree with everything you say
but it's still a semi-free country.
 The Hawk

A. It seemed like a pretty simple plan to me,
but I've never planned a terrorist attack.

Seems like one "good" idea, times four, with 19 suicidal friends
wouldn't take a lot of money or a room full of intelligence.

B. The answer to your question is "a bunch for a long time," and they did.
They kept Bush's torture prisons secret for years.
They have an entire shadow government with a black budget,
yet nobody is talking about that, either.
The NYWTimes knew for a year or longer than Bush was spying.
The phone companies knew for years Bush was tracking and listening.

The BFEE is giving everyone the same options they gave Afghanistan and pakistan.
"You either go along with us or we'll murder you."

That's very effective.

Remember, Bush can legally kidnap, torture and/or murder anyone he wants.
That's a good incentive to keep his secrets to yourself.

'Katrina' Heads for GOP House
  by Charlie Cook, GOP strategerist

 cookpolitical.com

 Excerpt:
This is without question the worst political situation for the GOP since Watergate.
A 30-seat gain for Democrats is more likely to occur than a 15-seat gain, the minimum
that would tip the majority. The chances of that number going higher are also strong,
unless something occurs that fundamentally changes the dynamic of this election.
This is what Republican strategists' nightmares look like.

It is very ugly for Republicans.

Subject: Behind closed doors

The Republicans say that they want to get to the bottom of the Mark Foley sex scandal
and that they aren't trying to cover it up. Well then, why are the hearings behind closed doors?

When they were crucifying Clinton, they put it on live TV and made it as public as possible.
But when it comes to their sex scandal, (which is a felony) they kide the truth from us.

Foley was co-chair of the Exploited Children's Caucus and was trying to have sex with underage boys.
And with Foley hiding out in an alcohol rehab center and the investigation hidden till after the elections,
Republicans are hoping that the voters will forget it their crimes and cover-ups in the next few weeks.

If the Republicans have nothing to hide then why hold hearings behind closed doors?

Time to Apologize

 observer.guardian.co.uk

 Excerpt:
This is what British troops and up to one in 40 Iraqis died for. It is the closing chapter and the legacy
of the invasion Bush's Poodle commended to history. It is the scandal from which ministers avert their eyes.
Obviously it would be wrong to deny all hope. The Iraqi government and institutions may live on, long after
U.K. General Dannatt's troops have gone, but the chances of peace are diminishingly slender...

If so, it is time to admit it. It is time to say sorry for the folly and the carnage, not to pretend,
as a nation is eviscerated, that all can be redeemed and excused. Bush's Poodle may forgive
General Dannett for speaking the truth. History will not be so merciful to Tony Blair.

BFEE almost has Iraq's oil
Bush allies locking up Iraq's oil - by law

 alternet.org

 Excerpt:
Iraq has some of the lightest, sweetest, most profitable crude oil on earth,
and the rules that will determine who will control it are about to be set.

Iraq's puppet government faces a December deadline, imposed by Bush, to complete its final oil law.
Industry analysts expect that the result will be a radical departure from the laws governing the country's
oil-rich neighbors, giving foreign multinationals a much higher rate of return than with other major oil
producers and locking in their control over what Bush called Iraq's "patrimony" for decades,
regardless of what kind of policies future elected governments might want to pursue.

Iraq contains 112 billion barrels of proven oil reserves, and possibly much.

Iraqi oil is close to the surface and easy to extract, making it all the more profitable.
The Global Policy Forum says that oil companies "can produce a barrel of Iraqi oil for
possibly as little as $1, including all exploration, oilfield development and production costs."

There you go.
That's why Bush saw Saddam as a "threat," so that oil had to be stolen.

2769 American victims had to die for false reasons
so Bush's cartel can sell us $5 oil for $100 a barrel.

Then $200.

Subject: Her

Hey, Bart!  When are you going to put Hillary in your ballerina conga line?
She's avoiding taking any stands on any issues.  Isn't that your definition of cowardice?

Biden, Kerry, and Pelosi are looking like statesmen compared to Hillary.

No, you didn't just say that...

Oh, I forgot.  She's in a barn burning senate race in NY.
 Tom M

ha ha
How's that barn burner looking?

I've answered this a dozen times, and when I do, haters reply,
"She's no different than every other elected Democrat," which is horse hockey.

She's a freshman at her first job - hardly in a position to bark orders to lifers like Kerry & Biden.
That will all change early next year.
She's the only working suvivor of a 15-year jihad by the Fascist dogs.
Speaking out now, as a lone voice, gets her what?
If she did, the haters wouldn't ease up, they would just change the reason they hate her.
Sidebar/example: If science proved, beyond all doubt that gay was genetic, the GOP
would not welcome them, they would just change the basis for their hate from
"They want to be perverts" to "God says we must hate perverts."
If the haters can't be convinced, why bother?
All speaking out too soon would accomplish would be to unite the right & left against her
She's the only woman in the senate whose underwear drawers were searched for pure spite.
There's a reason why she's 20-25 points ahead of "the others."
She's highly regarded by the sane governments of the world.
That might come in handy when we need help leaving Iraq.
She's going to be president if the Dems don't knife her in the back.
Can any other candiate say that?

Does anyone need to hear another Monica Lewinsky joke?
-- USA Today movie critic Claudia Puig, on Robin Williams newest movie  Link

How can anybody - even a Republican - disagree with that?
Monica jokes were old and stale while Clinton was still in office.

After six years of Bush's crimes, how funny is a Monica joke?
Worse still, they use the Monica joke in the ads for the movie.
What were they thinking?  This movie probably cost $30M,
so why couldn't they write jokes from the 21st century?

Did Dennis Miller have a writing credit?

Subject: polling at 30 percent

I would like you to use this comment to further YOUR candidate
and think it should be addressed sooner rather than later.

It has been addressed, over and over and over.
She's 25 points ahead of EVERY Democrat and everybody hates the GOP.
The GOP and sites like dailykos want you to think she can't win.
Don't believe them.

If your argument is: that one should not vote for an 'unelectable' (3rd party) candidate.
How do you reconcile : a vote for an 'unelectable' (woman) candidate?
 Chu

Calling her "unelectable" helps the Fascist dogs who are killing this planet.
She's 25 points ahead of EVERY Democrat.
Why do you keep screaming "unelectable?"
If She's "unelectable," what does that say about candidates 25 points behind her?
Don't believe them.

Reagan was "unelectable."
Der Monkey was "unelectable."
Jesse Ventura was "unelectable."
Musclehead was "unelectable."
Why let someone else tell you who's "unelectable?"

I have an opinion:
If we fail to run Her, our next president will probably be kinda sleazy.

"Stay the course!"

That means the Bush horrors will continue AND they'll have a semi-legit claim
that the Fascist Republicans is the party that stands with women and minorities.

Having said all that, I'll vote for the Democrat in 2008.
Can you say the same?

"I don't understand him, and I don't want to sit too close to him now," Lyons continued.

On NPR today Ann Garrells said that the major tax revenues in Iraq were
from their oil "such as they are", implying they are getting very little out of it.

Well of course they aren't since there are no meters on the oil pumps
as Bart and other major media have pointed out.

She said the majority of the money supporting the Iraqi government are US tax dollars.

So we are paying for the BFEE to not only wage war, kill our troops and innocent Iraqis,
as well those who dare to oppose an invasion of their homeland, kill jihadists and steal oil
but to finance both sides in a civil war too?

Bart-

Thanks for the heads up on the Pretenders special on VH1.
I remember the original band tearing through a killer set at the Orpheum Theater in Boston in 1981.

They were a ferocious band and without Chrissie Hynde many of the female artists of today,

It's too bad James Honeyman-Scott and Pete Harndon aren't here to enjoy it as well.
