Bush Family's Prosecutor Games
  by Robert Parry

 consortiumnews.com

 Excerpt:
George W. Bush learned at least one lesson from his father: You want your federal prosecutors to be
team players who will throw a political elbow or two when the White House needs some help.

When George H.W. Bush faced a tough reelection battle in 1992, his administration tried to destroy
Bill Clinton by implicating him in criminal investigations. But those plans collapsed when federal law
enforcement officials, including a U.S. Attorney in Arkansas, resisted what they saw as improper
White House political pressure.

Now, the younger George Bush is moving to ensure that he won't be sabotaged by similarly independent
-minded prosecutors. The WaHoPo says that the White House approved the firing of seven U.S. attorneys
at the end of 2006 after the Justice Department identified them as insufficiently supportive of Bush's policies.

The Justice Department got input on the firings from congressional Republicans, including Sen. Pete Domenici
of New Mexico who criticized the performance of U.S. Attorney David Iglesias, the Post reported.

Domenici admits tampering

 Link

 Excerpt:
Sen. Pete V. Domenici (R-Scumbag) admits that he contacted the U.S. attorney in Albuquerque last year
to ask about an ongoing corruption probe of Democrats, but said he "never pressured him nor threatened him in any way."

Domenici also told the Justice Department it should replace U.S. Attorney David Iglesias, one of eight federal
prosecutors fired in December. But Domenici claims the recommendation came before his call to Iglesias about
the criminal investigation.

"In retrospect, I regret making that call and I apologize," Domenici said of talking to Iglesias. "However, at no time
in that conversation or any other conversation with Mr. Iglesias did I ever tell him what course of action I thought
he should take on any legal matter. I have never pressured him nor threatened him in any way."

Of course he didn't.
If the GOP was corrupt, the voters would vote them out of power.

Subject: Bremer's lost cash

Hi Bart, eemember when Bremer lost a "TON" of money that was flown to Iraq - and got a medal for it?!
and the nearly 100K acres of paraguay real estate?  who would have thought things were so expensive in
Iraq that they needed ONLY $100 bills?

With that kind of money who needs to "steal" oil  when its so much easier just to print it and lose it?
Or should I say its easier to "lose" the money when you have that much?

Forget oil.  Oil is just a metaphor for power (or so it seems.)
Cash gets the job done on the ground.
 Araw

You're forgetting the insatiable greed of oil men like Bush & Cheney.
They're not happy stealing billions, they want it all.

Subject: suicidal bombers FAVOR Americans!

Bart, you wrote, in part:

> "Bush's bloody quagmire, plus Abu Graib and green-lighting Israel's invasion on Lebanon
> haven't exactly made us favorites in the world of suicide bombers."

"'Some say,' au contrere, mon frere!"  The behaviour of this administration has the 'cidal bombers ranking us
as "most favoured status" for them to retaliate against us.  At any moment look for another '9/11' incident,
where our limited remaining defense forces are ordered out of stand-by, and into 'war games'; which, of course,
leaves the door open again, just like the BFEE planned for the previous 9/11.

To quote a sage American, "Have I told you lately how much I HATE these people?"

Be well,
Alvin in L.A.

I think they'll wait until election eve for the next attack.
That will give Bush an excuse to postpone the elections "for our safety."

Obama, Clintons rock Selma

 Link

 Excerpt:
More than a thousand people gathered Sunday for the 1965 "Bloody Sunday" voting rights march
and remarked how the original protest paved the way for modern-day candidates to break political barriers.

Participants retraced the steps to the bridge where marchers were beaten back by racist republicans
as they marched from Selma to Montgomery in support of opening polls to blacks across the South.

"We're in the presence today of giants whose shoulders we stand on," Obama said . "People who battled
on behalf not just of African-Americans but on behalf of all Americans, who battled for America's soul,
that shed blood, that endured taunts and torment."

"I know if cousin Pookie would vote, if brother Jethro would get off the couch and stop watching TV
and go register some folks and go to the polls, we'd have a different kind of politics," Obama said,
the crowd rising to its feet. "Kick off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes!"

"We've got to stay awake, we've got to stay awake because we have a march to finish,"
Mrs. Clinton said, "a march towards one America."

Her voice rising, she said: "Poverty and growing inequality matter. Health care matters.
The people of the Gulf Coast matter. Our soldiers matter. Our future matters."

Big Dog, the most blessed speaker of the three, half-joked that he had been bested by the other two.
"All the good speaking has been done - I'm just sort of bringing up the rear," he lied.

Meanwhile, McCain (R-Torture-Happy) couldn't be bothered.

GOP heroes in short supply

 smh.com.au

 Excerpt:
Giuliani talked about how he destroyed the Mafia in New York when he was mayor, basically through
the use of informers and electronic surveillance and even occasionally killing a few of them when they
tried to shoot it out with the police.

All those techniques, he said, could be used to fight terrorism - "remain on the offence" as he put it - if he
became president. No mention of gay rights or abortion or even gun control, which he favours. Perhaps the
fact that members of the National Rifle Association seemed to make up half the audience meant Giuliani had
decided talk of gun control here might not be a great idea.

He left the stage to the sound of Frank Sinatra singing New York New York, which seemed appropriate
given the late Sinatra's alleged ties to the Mob.

If you watched TV this weekend, you know McCain ain't going to make it,
Rudy ain't going to make it and neither is Romney - so who does that leave - Gingrich?

Quotes

"How can you have the mess we have in New Orleans, where 22,000 people were so
uneducated and so unprepared, they literally couldn't get out of the way of a hurricane."
-- Newt Gingrich,  'Failure of Citizenship'",   Link

Damn, I've seen Newt say some really hateful things over the years,

Subject: Polygamists

Bart,

I was listening to show 108 and you were talking about Mitt the Morman.
Living in Utah, I have worked with many Polygamist women, the men do not work in the public domain.
For the older women from outside the fundie LDS church this lifestyle is a choice.  But for the women
born into it they are traded from family to family with no choice in who they are forced to marry.
And the young male polygamists are sorted into castes, where only the chosen few are allowed to
remain in the church.  The other young males "lost boys" we call them are ordered to leave town
and are totally ignored after that.  Since the fundie church "owns" all property of the flock when a
person leaves the flock all they take with them is the clothes on their backs.

My point here is the reference you made to polygamy in your show that "everybody wants to stick
their nose in other peoples business".  Bart, polygamy is NOT a choice for these young people - they are
born into it and then brainwashed.  They few women that escape are shunned by the fundies and can't take
their children with them, even though the male children will be forced to leave when they are eighteen.

So please don't say it is nosey to want to limit this lifestyle.  There are lots of victims.
By the way I love your shows and listen to them repeatedly.
 Utah Jim

The Case That Should Have Changed History

 joanmellen.net

 Excerpt:
Working with thousands of unreleased documents and drawing on more than one thousand interviews,
with many witnesses speaking out for the first time, Joan Mellen revisits the investigation of New Orleans
district attorney Jim Garrison, the only public official to have indicted, in 1969, a suspect in JFK's murder.

Garrison began by exposing the contradictions in the Warren Report, which concluded that Oswald was
an unstable pro-Castro Marxist who acted alone in killing Kennedy. A FAREWELL TO JUSTICE reveals
that Oswald was no Marxist and was in fact working with both the FBI and the CIA, as well as with U.S. Customs,
and that the attempts to sabotage Garrison's investigation reached the highest levels of the U.S. government.

Subject: Identifying a Nazi

Hi Bart,

Over the last six years our nation has had a chance to put the pieces of the puzzle together, and finally,
albeit a little too late, our President is seen by the majority as what he is.  He is an unabashed Nazi.
Call it "corporatism", as Dick Cheney once quoted Mussolini as calling it.  Whatever you call it,
it is the rule of the privileged few over the subservient masses using the power of money.

At least ten years ago I recall identifying the problem of fascism in America, and discussing it with people,
only to be made to feel like a lunatic by most.  It couldn't happen here.  Well, it has.  We even see our
President planning to move his base of operations to Paraguay to join his Nazi friends.  He is NOT the
President of the People of the United States of America.  He is a traitor, pure and simple.  He and his
cohorts belong in the history books alongside Hitler, Mussolini, Mengele and the hoards of monsters
that want nothing more than to bring down our country and its people, and watch from a distance.

Do we all see him and his criminal friends, finally, for what they are?  Are we finally ready to defend
our nation by driving these criminals back into the slimy bogs from which they crawled?  What will it take
for all of us to see how we have been betrayed, and what we will have to do to restore our Constitution
and Laws even to a weak semblance of what they were just a few years ago?

Wake up, America!
 Nelson

Bush's 'Torture Taxis'

 Link

 Excerpt:
Human rights activists and foreign governments friendly to the U.S. are outraged
because of a kidnapping operation being run by American intelligence agencies.

Why would that outrage anybody?

People have been snatched in broad daylight and then whisked to secret prisons, possibly for torture.
The planes used in this illegal operation are often seen in Las Vegas, but the connection goes much deeper.

The I-Team first reported on the so-called "torture taxis" in 2006 and has spotted these planes
coming in and out of Las Vegas on several occasions.  The aircraft are owned by shell companies
set up by unknown agencies, but probably the Central Intelligence Agency

Bush to L'il Kim: I brought the Butter

 underbearsnews.net

 Excerpt:
Der Monkey will soon recommend releasing a shipload of frozen North Korean bank accounts, officials say,
that closeted-gay Neocons hope will keep North Korea from reneging on its pledge to scrap nuclear weapons.

Bush has declared that several million dollars connected to North Korea are not tainted by links to rogue
nuclear proliferation or allegations of counterfeiting, smuggling and other crimes as Bush has alleged for years.

The U.S. move is expected to free up to $12 million in blocked assests for L'il Kim's North Korean forces.
Bush administration officials said Bush and L'il Kim would probably consumate the deal in late Spring.

Why I Hate Her
 by Scott Ritter

 Link

 Excerpt:
Let there be no doubt that Hillary Clinton is about as slippery a species of politician that exists,
one who has demonstrated an ability to morph facts into a nebulous blob which blurs the record and
distorts the truth. While she has demonstrated this less than flattering ability on a number of issues, nowhere
is it so blatant as when dealing with the issue of the ongoing war in Iraq and her vote in favor of this war.
This issue won't be resolved even if Hillary apologizes for her Iraq vote, as other politicians have done,
blaming their decision on faulty intelligence. This is because, like many other Washington politicians at
the time, including those now running for president, she had been witness to lies about Iraq's weapons
programs to justify attacks on that country by her husband and his administration.

Why did he say, "like many other Washington politicians...?"
Everyone knows the war is her fault and hers alone.

Bart, Bush visited Louisville yesterday.
Darrell

Iraq pumped 3.5M barrels daily before Bush invaded
and then they got their 2003 Halliburton upgrade

Bush is stealing $220,000,000 every day.

No wonder they were so eager to start a war,

stealing  $220,000,000 every day.

It's the biggest theft in Earth's history.

Exxon made $10B profit in 90 days
$100M a day - all profit - because Bush started a fake war

 Link

Bush's "Bring 'em on" death taunt is up to...

3,166....3,173 American victims

We lost 7 more since last issue
while the Little Dictator plays with himself.

...and how much did BIG OIL make yesterday?
Exxon makes $108M - every day

(And that's just ONE oil company)

7 more soldiers dead,
but Exxon makes $75,000 profit per minute

Bush can live with that,
because Iraq's oil wells have no meters.

Bush has killed more Americans than Osama.

The Big, Unanswered Iran Question
 by Ray McGovern

 consortiumnews.com

 Excerpt:
Iran: How far from the Bomb?

That was one of the key questions asked of newly confirmed Director of National Intelligence
Michael McConnell at a Senate Armed Forces Committee hearing on Tuesday.

Why had McConnell avoided this front-burner issue in his prepared remarks?  Because an
honest answer would have been:  "Beats the hell out of us.  Despite the billions that American
taxpayers have sunk into improving U.S. intelligence, we can only guess."

But the question is certainly a fair, and urgent one.  A mere three weeks into the job, McConnell
can perhaps be forgiven for merely reciting the hazy forecast of his predecessor, John Negroponte,
and the obscurantist jargon that has been introduced into key national intelligence estimates (NIEs)
in recent years).  McConnell had these two sentences committed to memory:

"We assess that Iran seeks to develop a nuclear weapon.  The information is incomplete,
but we assess that Iran could develop a nuclear weapon early-to-mid-next decade."

Isn't a better question: How soon could Iran buy a nuke?

Russia had what, 20,000 nukes, and then it splintered into a dozen pieces and fell apart?
All it takes is one greedy Russian general (insert appropriate bad guy here) and boom!

Why spend a decade to develope your own if you can purchase one this year?
