Cheney puts head in noose

So what was Cheney thinking? My guess is that he fears he is in trouble. This fear has been created by Obama, but indirectly.
Obama has declined to launch a prosecution of Cheney for war crimes, as many in his party (and outside it) would like.
He has set up a review of detention, rendition and interrogation policies. And he has simply declassified many of the
infamous torture memos kept under wraps by Bush.

He has the power to do this, and much of the time it is in response to outside requests. But as the memos have emerged,
the awful truth of what Cheney actually authorised becomes harder and harder to deny. And Cheney is desperately trying
to maintain a grip on the narrative before it grips him by the throat.

The threat, however subtle, is real. Eric Holder, the new attorney-general, while eschewing a formal investigation, has told
Republicans "prosecutorial and investigative judgments must depend on the facts, and no one is above the law". The justice
department is also sitting on an internal report into the calibre of the various torture memos drafted by Bush appointees in
the Office of Legal Counsel. The report has apparently already found the memos beneath minimal legal credibility, which
implies they were ordered up to make the law fit the already-made decision to torture various terror suspects.

Put the bastards on trial.
They put the lives of every American traveling outside this country in danger .

How many men and women and children were raped?
How many men and women and children were kidnapped?
How many men and women and children were tortured?
How many men and women and children were murdered?

Don't we have a right to know what they did in our name with our money?

Norm Coleman's a sore loser
But why won't the press label him like they did Gore?

Any day now, a three-judge panel in Minnesota will rule on Norm Coleman's lawsuit to overturn the results of the recount,
which was completed in January. The complete hand recount concluded that Sore Loser Coleman lost to Al Franken by 225 votes.
Coleman demanded a full court case; today, almost nobody, including Coleman's own attorney, thinks the Nazi pig will prevail in
the judges' upcoming ruling, which follows a tedious seven-week trial.

End of story, and after a drawn-out, 18-week process, Franken will finally be seated in the U.S. Senate, right? Wrong.
If Franken prevails, Coleman will then have another 10 days to file yet another appeal, this one to the Minnesota Supreme Court.
If Coleman loses there as well, Republican leaders in Congress are encouraging him to not give up his legal challenge and take his
case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which could create a scenario in which the Minnesota election might not get decided
until the fall -- almost a year after voters went to the polls -- even if the Supreme Court refuses to hear the appeal.

As we discovered in Florida back in 2000, the U.S. election system is hopelessly fucked. And when contests are close and invite
unprecedented scrutiny, questions always arise. But states do their best to ensure accuracy, and in the end, even in ridiculously
narrow contests, a winner has to be declared and the loser has to accept defeat

The Story of Ryan Moats

The first time Ryan Moats touched a football in an NFL game he ran it 40-yards for a touchdown. Currently, Moats plays
for the Houston Texans in the football mad Lone Star State. This would seem to be a charmed life. But none of that protected
Moats from one of the uglier cases of DWB (driving while black) that's come across the wires. Moats' money and fame
couldn't insulate him. A police dashboard video camera, however, recorded the ugly interaction shedding light on a practice
all too common in these United States.

Moats was rushing, hazard lights on, with his wife, Tamishia and her family to the hospital. Tamishia's mother was dying from
advanced breast cancer, and the hospital put out the word that they had to get there right away if they wanted to say good bye.
But then their lives collided with a nasty-ass racxist cop and the Moats family ordeal became more than a personal tragedy...

Moats said after the fact, "For him to not even be sympathetic at all, and basically we're dogs or something
and we don't matter -- it basically shocked me," he said.

I saw the tape - I guess you did, too - and that racist cop was waaaay out of conttrol.
I saw his apology, too, and I didn't believe a word of it.  He was sorry he fucked with a
person who was in a position to put a spotlight on a racist cop.

Bad cops get off on "hassling niggers," and that's what this looked like to me.
If Moats wasn't an NFL player, he'd just be another "one of them" lying about a cop.

Subject: Jeff Beck vs Jimmy Page

Hi Bart,
Jeff Beck is a guitar player.
Jimmy Page was a guitar player.

Last I heard, Page is still alive.

My guess is Page is sucking up for a job as Jeff Beck's guitar tuner!
ha ha
I hear he's almost broke.

You can't seriously compare Jeff Beck, to some guy who was a side-man for Robert Plant.

You're right - there's no comparison.

I'm not impressed with Led Zeppelin any more today than I was 40 years ago.

I've never heard anyone say that before.

They were nothing more than copycats.

Subject: Obama's plan to get bin Laden?

Mr. Cop:
Looking at your latest page, I see this quote first thing:
> "Am I the only American who remembers that candidate Obama had a plan to capture
>  Osama and fix our previous ‘mistakes’ in Afghanistan?  Obama doesn’t have a clue."
>     --  --Ralph Peters, LTC, USA-Ret
Mr. Cop, am I the only American who remembers that it was candidate McCain that claimed to have a plan to capture Osama?
I might also be the only American who remembers McCain also offered to help Obama,
to bridge their differences, and help "defend our security in a dangerous world?"
Maybe former candidate McCain could make good on that pledge and share his little plan
for capturing Osama instead of griping about Obama all day long.
About your Kos being CIA thing, I've seen that before, and I don't know what to make of it.
I don't think of Kos much at all... but I do know this... I'd prefer to drink Chinaco with you,
my friend, than sip wine coolers with Kos any day.

Obama - Riding the Pigboy

Piggy Pigboy became a stand-in for White House view of Republicans as a party that is not constructive, not willing to
seek common ground and out of touch with a bipartisan thirst for solutions to pressing economic problems. Obama’s aides
connect the dots and see a picture of a dark, unappealing political landscape on the right in which Republicans have become
so in-grown that not one of them felt free to repudiate Limbaugh for saying he wants the new American president to fail.

Right now, an administration official said, "the American people are not ideological…they are pragmatic.
They are interested in beating the recession. Politics will take care of itself."

From that perspective the political heads at the White House don’t have any doubt that Obama won his fight with El Pigbo
and Obama's aides see that victory extending beyond Limbaugh to Republicans on Capitol Hill who remain unified in loudly
opposing the president’s stimulus package and budget proposals.

If they insist on being the "There's nothing wrong that a tax cut won't fix" party
I say we sell them the rope.

Fear and Anger in Michigan

Fear and anger are rising in Michigan: Fear that things are about to get much, much worse than they already are;
anger that the federal government is strong arming the Mitten State just a short while after opening up America's coffers
to Wall Street with no strings attached.  New York gets what it wants, when it wants it from Washington, Michigan gets
slapped in the face. The fat cats on Wall Street caused this problem, they sank the economy, and they got paid off by a
robber-baron president as he scuttled out of office and tossed the keys to the new guy. Executives in Detroit get tarred
and feathered and escorted to the door.

Fearful, angry arguments are never subtle, never accurate, but always hotter than molten steel.
Fear and anger reduces politics down to the simplest of all logic:  they did this to us, and they will pay for it.

Subject: Is Republican Budget an April Fools Joke?

I'm still waiting for the Republicans to say "April Fools" after presenting their "Alternative Budget".
Surely they can't be serious. What the Republicans are proposing is the old Bush budget that got us
into this mess in the first place. Surely they don't think that going back to the Bush era policies are
going to fix the economy. But perhaps when you have a party that advocates failure as success,
as Rush Limbaugh has done, then this budget proposal of theirs is consistent with that goal.

Hey Bart, I like your site, but I'm tired of the attacks on people that I don't have a real problem with.

Dude, could you send me a list?

Kos, Sirota, the "Pink TuTu" Democrats, etc., etc.
Is there anyone other than Hilary Clinton who is not on your shit list?

I'm worried about Kos no longer making a million dollars a month.
That's gotta hurt - going from a million a month to $150K per month.
What if he's eating dog food?

David Sirota has honesty problems and the pink tutus gave Bush permission to torture.

Not that anyone should be immune from an ass-kick when required, but holy jeebus.
How about focussing your ire on blue dogs, repukes, and media assholes who really deserve it?

Have I mentioned that Rethugs are racist scumbags without souls?

Need to take a sudden trip?

Here's the deal:
I have a pair of Southwest Airlines tickets I could sell.
These days, prices are pretty cheap if you can give them 2 weeks notice.

This won't work if you're flying from Tulsa to Dallas but  if you need
to take a sudden expensive trip, maybe we can do some business.

If you're on one coast and need to fly to the other coast right away,
two tickets on Southwest is going to cost you at least $1,000 and
I could sell you a pair of tickets waaaaaay cheaper than that.

You PayPal me, I call SWA and put the tickets in your name,
I e-mail you the confirmation number, you go to the airport and
punch in the code and your boarding passes will print out.

I'll leave this up for a few days - see if I get any nibbles.
