Masseuse says Gore tried to jump her
Al Gore won't face charges for claims made by a massage therapist who says
she was the subject of his unwelcome sexual advances.
According to
the Oregonian, the masseuse,
54,
issued a detailed statement to local police back in January 2009 stating that
she was groped and kissed by Gore during a late-night massage session back in
2006, a claim that she also made at the time.
She said that she kept the clothes that she was wearing that night and even told
a couple of her friends about what had happened.
Police didn't move forward with the investigation due to lack of evidence and
were recently compelled to issue a statement explaining
why after the National Enquirer reported the allegations
on its Web site. "The case was not investigated any further because
detectives
concluded there was insufficient evidence to support the allegations," the
Portland Police Bureau said in a statement released Wednesday.
Detective Mary Wheat, a Portland police spokeswoman, said that following up with
the woman's friends and hotel staff would have
been a dead end. "We're not disputing Al Gore was in the hotel room with this
woman," Wheat said. "The two people in that room
were Mr. Gore and this woman. If a bellhop came in and saw something, that would
be different."
So what's the rule here - never get a massage when you're alone?
