Subject: Hang in there, Kid

Dear Bart -

I've been reading your site since about mid-way through the 2000 election cycle,
and think I have a pretty good idea of your values and desires and so forth.

In 2000, you were incredibly aggressive in your criticism of the Gore campaign,
for their failure to fight back against the Republican smear campaign.  Invented the Internet;
wears brown suits to appear to be an environmentalist; flip-flopper; etc.  Every time the
Buch campaign put up an ad, you offered solid response tactics.

Many of your most loyal readers complained that you weren't supporting the Democratic Candidate.
They said you should shut up and throw your weight behind Gore and help cheerlead.

You stuck to your guns and kept calling it as you saw it.
The Gore campaign didn't take any of the actions you recommended.

Gore won the election, but "lost" Florida and chickened out of the vote-count war that followed.

You asked: "How did I get in this party of surrender monkeys?"

In 2004, you were incredibly aggressive in your criticism of the Kerry campaign, for their failure
to fight back against the Republican smear campaign.  Ivy-league elite; phoney patriot; lies about
his military service; etc.  Every time the Buch campaign put up an ad, you offered solid response tactics.

Many of your most loyal readers complained that you weren't supporting the Democratic Candidate.
They said you should shut up and throw your weight behind Kerry and help cheerlead.

You stuck to your guns and kept calling it as you saw it.
The Kerry campaign didn't take any of the actions you recommended.

Kerry won the election, but "lost" Ohio and chickened out of the vote-count war that followed.

You asked: "How did I get in this party of surrender monkeys?"

In 2008, you are being incredibly aggressive in your criticism of the Obama campaign,
for their failure to fight back against the Republican smear campaign.  Unqualified; black;
pedophile; etc.  Every time the McCain campaign put up an ad, you're offering solid response tactics.

Many of your most loyal readers are complaining that you aren't supporting the Democratic Candidate.
They say you should shut up and throw your weight behind Obama and help cheerlead.

Stick to your guns and keep calling it as you see it.
The Obama campaign may or may not take any of the actions you recommend.

Obama may win the election, but "lose" <name of key battleground state here>
and chicken out of the vote-count war that follows.

You'll ask, again: "How did I get in this party of surrender monkeys?"

I wish with all my heart that the Obama campaign wakes up, and that you don't have to live
through the "trifecta" of watching the party kill itself off, day by day, inch by inch.

To EVERY reader of this site:

Trust Bart.  Believe that watching this happen again and again and again makes him feel sicker
than ANY of you will ever know.  He's been 100% right EVERY SINGLE TIME.  And look at
what it gets him.  His readers bitch and moan that he's not a team player.  His monkey opponents
heap ridicule on him.  His subscribers abandon him in favor of the "mainstream" "liberal" blogs,
like Kos and HuffPo and Salon, where they can feel all warm and safe and fuzzy while watching
their annointed candidates crash and burn.

Believe that he will NEVER LIE TO YOU.  Not to make you feel good.  Not to "get along".
Not to "support party unity."  Not to avoid "being such an asshole."  Not to get YOU to change your minds.

Believe that he WANTS Obama to be the next President.
Believe that every single post he puts up comes from his deepest belief that if the Obama campaign
repeats the same mistakes Gore made, and the same mistakes Kerry made, and the same mistakes
Obama has made so far, the sainted Barack will crash and burn on the same rocks as his predecessors.

Stop bitching about Bart's "negativity."  Stop accusing him of "not getting it."
Stop losing your faith in his vision and his passion and his plain common sense.

It's too much to ask you people to takle what Bart says and use it to write letters to the Obama campaign,
offering his advice as your own.  It's too much to ask you people to take ownership in the SUCCESS of
the Obama campaign, instead of putting your blind trust in the same planners and strategists who lost the
2000 and 2004 elections.

So I won't ask you people to do that.

But I will ask you people to be willing to listen to valid criticisms of a campaign strategy that
has been demonstrated TWICE as being a failure.

Bottom line:  Trust Bart.  If you feel you can't; if you genuinely think that Bart's posts will
actively HURT the Obama campaign; then go away.  Go over to Kos or Salon or HuffPo.
Go drink the koolaid that says Obama can't lose and that the election is in the bag.

I'm staying here.  I'm too broke to contribute anything but this letter of support, but I'm staying here.
I don't agree with everything Bart says (I'm more partial to playing K-7 offsuit from the small blind than he is),
but I'm staying here.
