False and True Quotes

"Senator Kerry drew very similar conclusions as the president did before the war,
calling Saddam an imminent threat, saying he was a part of the war on terror."
--Dan Bartlett, White House Liar, Face the Whore, 10/3/04, Attribution

"I will give to the President is for one reason and one reason only: To disarm Iraq of WMDs,
if we cannot accomplish that objective through new, tough weapons inspections in joint concert
with our allies. In giving the President this authority, I expect him to fulfill the commitments he
has made to the American people in recent days to work with the UN to adopt a new resolution
setting out tough and immediate inspection requirements, and to act with our allies at our side
if we have to disarm Saddam Hussein by force."
--John Kerry, Congressional Record, 10/09/02,  Attribution

John, just curious - why did you wait seven months to clear that up?
Is this race so in-the-bag that you wanted to give the enemy a head start?

 Edwards/Snarl Debate Assumes New Importance
Can Cheney bully the always-smiling John Edwards?

  Click  Here

  Excerpt:
Tonight's vice presidential debate, which we presumed would be a sideshow,
has assumed critical importance, as Cheney tries to halt the ticket's slide in momentum.

After Bush's faltering performance with Kerry, GOP strategists said Cheney's aim is to return
public attention to 9-11 (Again?) and the administration's broader handling of terrorism and away
from what they called a "second-guessing" debate over the bungled decision to invade Iraq.

 Quotes

"Bush failed to explain his wrong choices.  Here are four mistakes Bush made:
First, he failed to defend his go-it-alone foreign policy that has alienated our allies.
Second, he chose not to level with the American people and our troops about the
  deteriorating situation in Iraq:
Third, instead of owning up to his mistakes, he smirked and scowled and refused
to directly answer the hard questions.
Fourth, when John Kerry outlined his plan, Bush said he wasn't sure we could afford it,
even as he continues to promise more tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans."

In the middle of an answer Thursday night Bush said, "Now let me finish" as if someone

Listen to the mp3 yourself - or watch the video at c-span. did anyone out there record the debate.
We've got to get this video clip out there - the president needs an earpiece to make it thru a debate!

  Excerpt:
U.S. warplanes pounded the vast Baghdad slum of Sadr City overnight after
an American patrol came under gunfire, the military said Tuesday. In Ramadi,
a car bomb explosion was followed by clashes between U.S. troops and insurgents.

You live in sixth century Iraq - great.
You're stuck in the worst of Baghdad's slums - even better.
You've lost your home, your husband and two children - so far.

 Subject: the Bush/Kerry debate

Bart, the whole time I was watching the debate I just wanted to see Kerry do one thing
that would have gotten him more than just points in the "polls", it would have gotten him respect.

On the paper both candidates were given he should have wrote the word "Idiot" on it in big letters
and drawn an arrow pointing to Bush.  It was have been perfect since through out most of the debate
the networks were using a split screen format.

 Keep swinging the hammer Bart.

  White House releases similar-style documents

  Excerpt:
At the very least, the timing of the release shows that the White House deliberately withheld
a genuine document which contained the characteristics of the memos which are said to have
been forged. From the beginning, Bush's supporters have claimed that typewriters of the
period could not produce the documents.

It's also the fourth time the White House has released Bush documents since they said they
had released all of Bush's non-medical documents. White House liar Dan Bartlett told the WaHoPo
that he had put out "absolutely everything" he had of Bush's nonmedical military records in February.

The document in question was released to an independent researcher as part of a FOI Act request
in 2000, but was not made available to the general media until the White House released it - under
a federal court order after a lawsuit by the Associated Press - on Sept. 24.

It's a good thing CBS hired partisan Republicans to look into this.
I'm sure their final report will be fair and objective.

 Hey Bart!

David was right about you: "...you do not say what folks want you to say."
I winced when you were noting the bare facts of how Kerry was getting bashed by
poorly thought out "strategery". But that is what I like about you - you are critical
where you need to be, even on the Democrats. I did not interpret your criticisms
of Kerry as wrong - he needed a kick-in-the-ass so he wouldn't blow a decent chance 11/2.

I had NO DOUBT that Kerry would do Bush in during the 1st debate. Bush cannot handle
unscripted, confrontational questions. He is the bubble-boy president for sure. It was a painful
sight watching Bush emotionally tank on national TV.

"This is our president?" kept running through my mind. Jeez.
Yes - it is true - our press corp was asleep in 2000.
Some (not Blitzer or other lackeys), gratefully, have woken up.

Thanks for keeping the fires burning - even if it torches the stuporous Kerry campaign.

For Bush, financing the Iraq war is a greater priority.  The question is, are terrorists a threat to America or aren't they?
If Bush expects terrorists to strike any time soon, why isn't he acting accordingly? How does Bush think he's making
America safer by spending far more money in Iraq than on security here at home?  What good will it do if we somehow
end up victorious in Iraq but at the same time experience terrorist attacks on one or more of our airlines, ports or

 Subject: Debate responded

Kerry's use of the Bush 41 quote about not invading Iraq was doubly smart.
Not only did he quote a Republican president who believed as Kerry believes,
but conflicting quotes from Bush 43's father is the best way to make him angry
and to look as he did on TV.

 Tim P

There's something weird going on with Bush and his daddy.
I used to think he wanted to impress Ol' Dad, but now I think he wants to one-up him.

In 2000, he never said he wanted to be like his Dad, it was always "Reagan this" and "Reagan that."
I think Bush hates his daddy, and wants to finish what he started NOT to compliment him,
but to show him how a REAL man would've handleds Saddam - the "right" way - back in 1991.

Further proof: How Bush 41 and Scowcroft and and Stormin' Norman and all of dad's old team
said before the war that it would be a grave mistake to (A) try to take Baghdad and (B) get into this
war without a healthy alliance (including Arabs) behind him the way 41 did for his fake war.

I think the drunken Smirk still wants to go "mano-a-mano" with his old man.

--Karl Rove, when asked why Dubya kept silently staring into the camera when it was his turn to speak

 Subject: Bush's immature debate actions

 Bart,

MW said it first. I was thinking that all the so-called pundits either got it wrong or were just
too chicken to state the obvious. GW Bush is a pampered little bully, a privileged frat-boy who,
when among his friends, is never told he is wrong about ANYTHING.

Remember that one interview he did where he said "I don't feel I have to explain myself to anyone"?
 He really believes that.
He is the leader of the free world, and he doesn't have to explain himself to anyone?!?!

Thanks, MW. You, and you alone, decsribed exactly what was going on in the debate.
Dubya was ANNOYED that someone was pointing out that he was WRONG!

 jmcros

Also, since Bush can't explain anything to anyone, being an arrogant prick helps him
keep the facade in place by pretending he could explain, but feeling like he doesn't have to.

Kerry did not "volunteer" for service in Vietnam. While in college, he applied for deferment
from military service four times and got it each time. He was rejected on his fifth try.
In desperation, he joined the Naval Reserve, hoping he would never be called up.

George W. Bush joined the Army Reserve during the Vietnam conflict.
He spent many hours and took exhaustive training, qualifying to fly fighter jets in combat.
(Jets that were too old to be serviced.)
He could have been called up for active service at any time.

Kerry's attempts to avoid military service were in vain. He was sent to Vietnam, where he spent a month
behind the lines being trained as a junior officer. He then served for 10 weeks on Swift Boats before he
cut and ran for home. This is heroism?

Kerry proudly boasts that he won five medals in 10 weeks of active duty (a record!).
He received a Silver Star, a Bronze Star, and three Purple Hearts. But for what?

Hey asshole - he was given the Purple Heart for the shrapnel still in his body.

 Subject:  split screen?

 Bart,

I watched the C-SPAN coverage of the debate and assumed the split-screen format was used
by the other networks... I asked some friends for a Tivo'ed copy of the debate so I could archive it
for posterity, and ended up with a CNN feed that showed one candidate at a time.

Is this how all the other networks covered it?
I thought they were rejecting the agreement by the campaigns covering how the debates
would be covered... what networks actually showed both candidates simultaneously?

The split-screen coverage was absolutely critical to understanding the debates..
Was C-SPAN the only one to deliver the complete coverage I had expected would be had everywhere?

 Best,
 RH, Los Angeles , Dude.

RH, I think the other networks did the split screen now-and-then.

 Quotes

"The president, in his folksy way that no one inside the Beltway recognizes, was able to speak
in real clear terms about why we're at war against terror. John Kerry didn't pass the living room test.

Subject: Looking forward to VP debate

I think the Vice Presidential debate Tuesday evening will be even more of an interesting contest
than the Bush - Kerry debate. The incumbent, Vice President Cheney, is a seasoned politician
who has had a lifelong career in government and as CEO of Haliburton. In the 2000 VP debate
Cheney stomped Senator Joe Lieberman into the ground.

His opponent, John Edwards, has less political experience. But he has come from nowhere to national
contender in record time. Edwards is considered a legendary trial lawyer. He has won cases for victims
where no lawyer has won before. To be a lawyer of that caliber, you have to be very sharp - think fast
 - and be able to get the jury to vote your way.

This is a match up of a reigning champion against a highly talented hotshot newcomer and I think it will be
a much more exciting event to watch than the presidential debate was where one party was clearly smarter
than the other. The presidential debate might be more important - but I think the VP debate will be more
interesting. I'm looking forward to watching it.

 Tony Blair echoes Mussolini

  Click  Here

  Excerpt:
Having taken part in the killing of as many as 37,000 Iraqi civilians, Blair's distractions, not his victims,
are news: from his arcane "struggle" with his Tweedledee, Gordon Brown, to his damascene conversion
to the perils of global warming. On the atrocity at Beslan, Blair is allowed to say, without irony or challenge,
that "this international terrorism will not prevail". These are the same words spoken by Mussolini soon after
he had bombed civilians in Abyssinia.

The Iraqi occupation is a systematic, murderous assault on a civilian population by a corrupt American officer class,
given licence by its superiors in Washington. In May, the US marines used battle tanks and helicopter gunships to
attack the slums of Fallujah. They admitted killing 600 people, a figure far greater than the total number of civilians
killed by the "insurgents" during the past year. The generals were candid; this futile slaughter was an act of revenge
for the killing of three US mercenaries. Sixty years earlier, the SS Das Reich division killed 600 French civilians at
Oradour-sur-Glane as revenge for the kidnapping of a German officer by the resistance. Is there a difference?

"I myself was to experience how easily one is taken in by a lying and censored press and radio in a totalitarian state,"
Shirer wrote. "Though unlike most Germans I had daily access to foreign newspapers . . . and though I listened
regularly to the BBC and other foreign broadcasts, my job necessitated the spending of many hours a day in combing
the German press, checking the German radio, conferring with Nazi officials and going to party meetings. It was
surprising and sometimes consternating to find that notwithstanding the opportunities I had to learn the facts and
despite one's inherent distrust of what one learned from Nazi sources, a steady diet over the years of falsifications
and distortions made a certain impression on one's mind and often misled it."

Shirer then recounted how, in conversations with his German friends and strangers he would meet in cafes and

Our motto for this year is - "No Anti-Bush Site Left Behind". So - if you have an anti-bush site and you are
choking on hosting fees or dealing with threats - let us know and we'll help keep you online.

We also have that strongest server side spam filtering on the planet.
Check out Marx Mail for info on how you can have a Spam Free Email Account.

BCR Show 55

This is the first non-Tommy show in over six months.
