Bill, good thing CNN has Wolf Blitzer because

 Is Impeachment the Answer?
by Robert Parry as seen on  consortiumnews.com

  Link

 Excerpt:
The conventional wisdom - virtually across Washington's political spectrum - is that the impeachment
of Bush and Cheney is unthinkable, and without doubt, it would be extremely difficult to engineer.

(I think he means because they'd fight back instead of surrendering, like Dems did in 1998.
Republicans stand with their president no matter what while Dems stab theirs in the back .)

But a better answer to Americans interested in holding Bush and Cheney accountable is that
impeachment is possible - if enough voters want it to happen.

Say, for instance, 75 percent of voters favored impeachment and considered it a decisive issue in how
they will cast their ballots. Would politicians facing such a popular groundswell risk their own jobs to
save Bush and Cheney?

Or, put differently, what would happen if voters - beginning with state and local elections on Nov. 8
- rejected every Republican on the ballot? Would the public hunger for accountability begin to sink in then?

Crazy? Well, there are signs that even in Red States, Bush is becoming a drag on Republicans.

Bigger then Watergate
Frog march, frog march, frog march, frog march...

 Link

 Excerpt:
Treasongate includes many of the essential components of Watergate: smearing opponents of the Iraq war
and their loved ones, financial shenanigans and a cover-up. Actually it was a cover-up of a cover-up; they lied
about trashing Plame. Outing a CIA agent is the rancid cherry on top of a triple-dip blob of corruption.

You can bet there's more to come. "Trust us," they ask. "We're incompetent, not evil." That's their defense.
"One can believe that the neocons are utterly wrong without also assuming that they are evil," Nicholas Kristof
argues in a Times op-ed. But people willing to lie their country into war and stab the people who protect it in the
back--if we're to believe them, by not bothering to check Plame's status--are evil. It's like a case of vehicular
homicide: Did Bush and his goons hit Plame on purpose or was it an accident? Either way, I want them off the road."

Subject: I'll see your random thought

Why do you think Scooter lied?

I surmise it was to drag out the prosecutor's investigation PAST the 2004 election and along with
the ballot fix in Ohio ENSURE that W got "re-elected".  He was willing to hit the sacrifice fly
(since like Fitzgerald, I like baseball metaphors) which allowed W to steal home.

Had Scooter told the truth, it would have come out BEFORE the election that the leak
started in Cheney's office and it might have made for a different election outcome.

I think you're exactly right.
Scooter knows he has a pardon coming, too.

Libby to Take First Frog March Hop

No legal leg to stand on

 Link

 Excerpt:
Hopping Libby was expected to plead innocent Thursday in his first Traitor-gate court appearance.
Libby signaled his determination to fight the charges after Friday's grand jury indictment, which has provided
more fuel to the political debate over the White House's misuse of prewar intelligence on Iraq. Being super-rich.
he hired well-known criminal trial lawyers Ted Wells and William Jeffress to bolster his legal team.

He is expected to squeal like Ned Beatty once his situation is explained to him.

Subject: Gore caved on pot

Hi Bart,
I thought I'd write on something we both agree on.

Gore lost because he wasn't honest!
He came out during the "debates", and claimed that
there is no evidence that medical marijuana works effectively!

I didn't know that (or I forgot) but that's just crazy.
I wish I belone\ged to the party of science and logic.

Not only is there a literal mountain of evidence going back to the
1800's, but also 70% of nationwide voters support the patients right
to use cannabis, if recommended by a physician!

I know, because I saw the data during the California Prop. 215 campaign.
Gore is just another lying shill for the corporate ruling elite.

I would guess he was afraid of being branded "Al the Druggie."
Politics is so screwed up - the first person to come forward to say,
"Let's use medical science to help cancer patients and the dying,"
f-ing Jay Leno and (sorry) f-ing Letterman would go postal on him.

Comedians can sometimes be very effective in a debate,
but maybe I shouldn't complain about that fact..

It's truly pathetic that folks think Gore is honest.
Even more so that they think we live in a "democracy".

Best Regards,
Rob

Gore's certainly more honest than the bastard who lied 2020 soldiers into their graves.

more than 50 years of unfettered Democrat control. We came to Washington full of ideals

You know what would be way cool?
To have her and the First Lady (the amazing Stockard Channing) butt heads.
Two of the most powerful female characters on TV duking it out - that would be great TV.

Barrick (BFEE controlled) bids $9.2bn for Gold firm

 Link

 Excerpt:
Bush-controlled BARRICK Gold Corp has triggered a fresh rush of consolidation in the worldwide
gold industry with a $US9.2 billion ($12.3 billion) bid for Placer Dome, its fellow Canadian producer.
The move could give the combined group control of one-fifth of Australia's gold output.

The unsolicited takeover bid, if successful, would make Barrick the world's largest gold miner above
Newmont Mining of America, which took top position following its $3.8 billion purchase of Australia's
Normandy Mining in 2002. Placer Dome has yet to respond to the offer, which was made on Monday night.
The company said that its board would consider Barrick's proposal "in due course."

Gold prices have climbed to a 17-year high.

Gold prices rise when the world becomes more unstable, say, ..when some idiot Monkey starts a war
just to make his friends and family mega-billions richer, no matter how many American soldiers die.

Six GIs Killed in Iraq; 20 Die in Bombing

 Link

 Excerpt:
A suicide bomber detonated a minibus Wednesday in an outdoor market packed with shoppers
ahead of a Muslim festival, killing about 20 people and wounding more than 60 in a Shiite town.
Six U.S. troops were killed, two in a helicopter crash west of the capital.

The town police chief, Lt. Col. Ahmed Mijwil, said 22 people were killed and 61 wounded.
The figures could change as rescuers searched the area for more wounded or deads.

I think I have a good imagination.
But I can't imagine what it's like to be walking or driving a car and then turning a corner
and then seeing the result of a bomb blast that killed 22 and injured at least 61 people.

Blood, body parts, hair and "tissue" everywhere, the stench of gunpowder and death.
This is what Bush's greed has brough to Iraq - Total anarchy with bodies every f-ing where.

Subject: Did you see what happened?

Bart, Harry Reid f-ing rocks!

Today the GOP went all Fallujah on Harry.
They're bashing his action yesterday, claiming that the WaHoPo called it a "cheap trick".
But that's just not true --

The desperate fascists picked two words they liked -- but here's the full quote:

"It was a cheap trick -- and it worked brilliantly. CNN called it "Congress in Crisis."
MSGOP showed a mostly empty hallway outside the Senate chamber and a clock
showing elapsed time since the Senate went into closed session.

"Republicans knew they were licked. They agreed to set a schedule for the investigation.
"Today, the American people had a victory," Reid declared."

Enough is enough, and Harry Reid knows it. We must have accountability for President Nimrod
and the White House cover-up. I support his action completely, and so do more than 10,000 others
who have written notes of thanks to him in less than 24 hours.

A year ago today we lost an election.
That process did not end a year ago. It continues right now -- as we fight on the life and death issues
that matter today, and as we build a permanent Democratic Party that will win elections in decades to come.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
We will not be silent.

I will personally deliver your note of thanks to Harry Reid, along with my own, because our elected leaders
must know that when they show courage they speak for all of us.

Thank you.
Howard Dean

Subject: Bart, you're missing a third option

Mr. Bart, you wrote

> "Either Libby cops a plea and gives up Cheney OR this trial drags on and on
> during an election year.  ... If Libby pleads innocent ... there's gonna be a trial."

You're 3rd-force blind here - FuriousGeorge will pardon him before anything happens at all.
One thing FOR SURE - there will be NO trial - they CANNOT afford that to happen.

These shits get away with crimes all the time and they will do it again - Sorry, but I've seen them
worm out of every corner every time, & I'm getting disgusted and depressed and cynical about it all.

But keep hammering - we're watching and listening.
TQ

TQ, I laid out a plan for how to prevent that, but the Democrats never take advice from me.
If they were to guarantee Bush that he would be impeached if he pardoned Libby before his trial,
and shut down the government if the Republicans don't go along and then follow thru with that.

Then - a pardon would be Bush begging to be impeached.  That would also tell voters that Bush
would rather be impeached than let the truth come out - all the while claiming there's no "there" there.

If there's no "there" there, then why did Bush risk impeachment?

It's called setting a trap, and it's so damn easy to do - all they gotta do is write a f-ing letter
and get it signed by every Democrat and talk about nothing but that letter for a week on every TV show.

Why can't the Democrats see the obvious?
One guarantee by Conyers would set it all up - and it's free!

If they'd listen to me, they could force Bush to act.
But if Bush acts first, there's nothing they can do.

Random Thought...

A line for the Democrats:

"The more the Republicans try to hise the pre-war intelligence, the more we wonder why.
What's in that hidden evidence that they don't want the voters to see? If there's nothing there,
like they keep telling us, why not show us so we can get back to doing the work of the people."

See how easy that is?

Subject:  Oh, the outrage

I sit here in total amusement watching Republican senators responding in total outrage to
the Democrats declaring a "Closed Session" of the senate to discuss the issue of whether the
Bush administration fabricated a fraud that led America into a war for false reasons.

Republicans are totally shocked declaring that they have never seen such a thing before.
"They have no convictions, they have no principles" declares Senator Frist. Republicans can not
imagine that a politician would be so low as to stoop to using "dirty tricks" for political advantage.
Is this the beginning of Armageddon? Oh what a shocker!!!

Halloween has just past and the Democrats have risen from the dead!

U2 continues US tour

Concert Review:   U2: Los Angeles Show 11/1

Simply put, Preachy.

Like the Rolling Stones said to  Living Colour and Guns N' Roses after their very public,
cultural dispute over gays and blacks during a tour in the 1990's:  Shut up and play!
Bart, I care about politics. But just the same, I wouldn't spend a whole night listening to .it

I saw U2 for the first time in the fall of 1981at Vanderbilt University, and then again in the summer
of 1992 in New Jersey.  Both times, I was able to recognize a song after the first few notes.
Tonight, Bono would be into the chorus before I would be able to say, Oh, that's Sunday, Bloody, Sunday!

Morale of the Story:
If you want to mix politics and rock, make sure you stick to the music the people are coming to hear.
Mix in the politics and mix up the lyrics and melody, and you lose your audience.

Not a good Rock show, at all.

LHM in LA

LHM, I'm not sure I ever heard anybody say that about a U2 show before.
Bono has always been preachy - well, since 1987 when I first saw them.
Remember in 1992 when he called the White House during every show?

And since you knew he was preachy when you traded your hard-earned money for U2 tickets
I guess you're saying he was more preachy than usual this tour.

Thanks for sending in your report.

'Gang of 14' Fractures Over Alito
OR: Dems refuse to bend over again

 Link

 Excerpt:
The 14 centrists who averted a fascist re-writing of the rules last spring are showing signs
of splintering over the not-yet indicted Monkey's latest nominee for the Supreme Court.

That is weakening the hand of Democrats opposed to conserv-Nazi Alito
and enhancing his prospects for confirmation.

.
What?
Is Karl Rove back at the editor's deask at the Associated Press?

The GOP says, "Vote with us or we'll arrange for your votes not to count anymore."
In other words, "Get in the trunk of this car or we'll shoot you."

Fuck that.
I ain't getting in no damn trunk of a car.
I'll take my chances right here, in a parking lot full of witnesses.

If the GOP wants to make the Democrats' votes useless, they could say,
"Why, when Bush is about to be exposed for lying America into a war that made him richer,
are the Republicans trying to silence the minority?  What are they afraid of? What are they hiding?"

If only the knew how to play their hand.
When that pandemic of testosterone broke out in Harry Reid's pants. it was a cool breeze in the desert.
But the beast is wounded, and he's going to fight back harder than Luca Brassi with a pierced hand.

The Democrats need to taunt the GOP.

"What are you afraid of?"
"Why are you allergic to sunlight?"
"What secrets are we getting close to revealing?"
"Why did Bush hide Reagan's papers?"
"Why did Poppy have to pardon Weinberger before the trial?"
"Why is Bush looking to pardon Libby before the trial?"
"Why can't you tell the simple truth?"

It would be so easy to win this fight - because everybody hates Bush.
If the Democrats would push back, they'd win the war of public opinion.

Subject: BCR show 84 was great - I want them every day!

Bart--

I am usually too busy to write but I had to tell you,
I just finished Show 84 and it was so good, like all the recent shows.

I really wish you were on AirAmerica Radio every day so I could get my Bartcop fix more often.
Or maybe you should consider satellite like Howard because I'd hate to see you have to lose the profanity.
I think it's great. It certainly expresses how I feel about the BFEE.

Deb, as I get older, my fingers hurt more after each issue, so it's possible that
we may have to go to an all-audio format at some point in the future.
That, or I could buy a lot of shares of stock in Aspercreme :)
