Bush Flummoxes Kafka, Orwell
by Robert Parry as seen on  consortiumnews.com

 Link

 Excerpt:
George W. Bush's latest mind-bending rationalizations about torturing detainees from the Iraq War
and the War on Terror might have left Kafka and Orwell scratching their heads. Bush's lawyers are now
arguing that while a new law may bar cruel and inhuman treatment of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay,
the detainees have no legal standing in U.S. courts to contest the abuse -- and thus there is no way
they can stop it. Under these legal theories, the only person who can enforce this law is President Bush
-- and he's one of the key people responsible for the illegal treatment in the first place.

Army Probes Tillman Death
Was he murdered for being anti-Bush?

 Link

 Excerpt:
The Army said Saturday it will launch a criminal investigation into the death of Pat Tillman,
the pro football player who was shot to death by fellow soldiers in Afghanistan in what
previous Army reviews had concluded was an accidental shooting.

Col. Joseph Curtin, an Army spokesman, said the Defense Department office of inspector general
had reviewed the matter at the Army's request and concluded that a criminal probe was warranted.

I took so much shit for standing up for Pat Tillman who was rich and famous before he gave his life for his country.
Left-wall huggers called him "that steroid-laden, Bush-loving murderer," if memory serves.

Remember in Farenheit 9-11, Michael Moore visited the families with nothing?
If you've never seen $5,000, you'd join the military to get that for your family.

Tillman had at least a million, and fame, and as many pretty girls as he wanted, yet he
put his life on the line to serve his country, ...and some on our side piss on him for that.

Missouri's official religion
They're trying to force us to their God

  Link

 Excerpt:
Missouri legislators considered a bill that would name Christianity the state's official "majority" religion.
House Concurrent Resolution 13 has is pending in the state legislature.

Many Missouri residents had not heard about the bill until Thursday.
Karen Aroesty of the Anti-defamation league, along with other watch-groups,
began a letter writing and email campaign to stop the resolution.

The resolution would recognize "a Christian god," and it would not protect minority religions,
but "protect the majority's right to express their religious beliefs.

Subject: You never cease to confound me

Bart, you wrote:

> "So our best option is to let Iran have the bomb." After Bushed warned them...."

No, that's not what I wrote.
You're the first person I've seen misquote someone using copy and paste.

I wrote:
"So our best option is to let Iran have the bomb?"

So, apparently you're on board with the BFEE and believe attacking Iran is the "right" thing to do?

No, and what a crazy assumption to jump to.
How many years have you been reading this page?

Which part of "We gotta get these blood-thirty fools out of the White House," sounds pro-Bush to you?

Over 1700 issues and ten years on the job and you ask if I'm onboard with the BFEE?
Are you fucking nuts?

You are so absolutely brainwashed by the neo-con the "Ayrabs hate us for our freedoms" bullshit....

<snipped a whole lot of baggage>

You know what, I'm done with you man. I have tried in vain to ween you from the neo-con tit,
but you persist in regurgitating the company line. I'm sure you'll be thrilled to death when the racist Israelis
start WWIII when they bomb Iran in a few weeks. I hope you reap what you sow, Bart.

So, I'm not only Bush's twin who loves Rush, I'm a puppet of the Israelis, too?
If you ever regain your sanity, you'll remember that even tho I have an IQ of 64,
I'm too smart to get involved in that never-ending handjob.

You and your ilk will be the end of the freedoms that our Colonial ancestors fought so hard to obtain
- not the fuckin' Ayrabs. Smartin' up buddy - there is no RADICAL ISLAMIC THREAT.

Gee, if only I had a web page, I could fight the bastards who have stolen our country.
Did you forget who you were ranting at?
Are you writing this drunk?

This is the "big lie" propoganda strategy thought up by Goebbels and implemented by Ws' Grandpas' buddy Hitler.
If ther were a real threat of Ayrabs bombing this country they would have started on the shopping malls long ago.

You read that on this page a hundred times.
*I* am the guy who constantly says we're not being attacked because Al Qaeda has been told to stand down.
How do you not remember hearing that here, first?
Plus, has any other web site said that besides this one?

How fucking hard would that be as compared to 9-11?

My point exactly, and I've said so 100 times.
Stop and think, John - you're reading  bartcop.com
How drunk are you?

Speaking of the "inside job" that was 911, I see no mention of Jeanine Garafolos' recent expression of the same opinion.
Is she now persona non grata in your eyes. I thought you admired her?

Jeanine is smart.  I've heard nothing from her that would shake my admiration of her.
You, on the other hand, have lost your mind and have chosen to attack me for ...what, I'm not exactly sure.

Fuck it Bart, you're a lost cause and it's 4 in the morning and my left arm is buzzing and acheing
from all this superfluous (that's useless to you) typing.

Yeah, from the length of your nonsensical rant, you must've been drinking and typing for hours.

Wake the fuck up and smell the coffee. You've been had.
I'm out.
John who left the country (to stay)

I hope your new country has competent psychiatrists.
Maybe your first question should be, "Why do I scream at my friends?"

Cruella DeVille Shuns Spending Requests

 Link

 Excerpt:
U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris, (R-Whore) linked to a campaign finance scandal,
is turning away even routine requests to provide funding for special interests.

Harris has taken pride in going after pork barrel spending, but on Thursday she stayed away
from meetings with special interests, including executives from Florida's university system.

Among the reasons for her absence was a meeting with lawyer Ben Ginsberg,
whom she hired as a "precaution," Harris spokeswoman Kara Borie said.

On the sixth day after she was identified as a recipient of illegal campaign contributions,
the Republican slut stayed behind closed doors. She issued a statement in which she denied
knowing that contributions made to her by defense contractor Mitchell Wade had been illegal.

Quit Bargaining With the Lives of Our Loved Ones
    by Stacy Bannerman   truthout.org

 Link

 Excerpt:
It's easy to make deals with soldiers' lives when it's not your soldier. It's pretty simple
to postpone coming up with an exit strategy when your loved ones are already home.

What's not so easy is sitting across from a familiar stranger, someone who looks like
your loved one, but isn't - not quite. What's even harder is dining next to an empty chair,
day after day, month after month and year after year. Taking your meals at the bedside of
what's left of your son, lying in intensive care at Walter Reed Army Medical Center,
is a whole different degree of difficult.

Diane Benson's 26-year-old boy was still unconscious when he arrived at Walter Reed after
being hit by a roadside bomb north of Baghdad. Latseen Benson had his legs blown off,
along with part of an arm. If he survives - and it's still a pretty big if - he will never again sit
in his old chair at his mother's table. Negotiate that, Senator Clinton.

(Al Gore sigh...)

I can only assume Stacy thinks four more years of BFEE wars and invasions
would be preferred over a Hillary Clinton administration and I can't see why.
Hillary didn't blow that man's legs off, but Stacy projects that on to her.

She pretends Hillary did that.
She's lying to herself and that's a crime.
Stacy seems more angry with Clinton than Bush, the moron who lied us into this war.

Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) said an immediate pullout "would cause more problems
for us in America."  Does "us" refer to you folks on Capitol Hill?

She never mentions Bush - this is all Hillary's fault - 100 percent.
If only Hillary wasn't such a shameless whore for BIG OIL, right Stacy?

So here's today's question:
What is our biggest obstacle in 2008?

The crooked Diebold voting machines?
The media covering for their boy Bush and lying about Democrats?
Our self-defeating, suicidal hatred of the front-runner?

GOP Turns on Monkey
  by Gloria Borger

 Link

 Excerpt:
So it has finally come to this: Congressional Republicans, once a compliant bunch, are now openly defiant.
In some ways, it's not surprising: The president is a lame duck, leading an increasingly unpopular war in Iraq,
and his personal popularity is at an all-time low. After all, members of Congress are most loyal to themselves
when it comes to saving their jobs. And Republicans are worried that they could actually lose control of the
House in the upcoming midterm elections. "It's not that we feel we now can [criticize the White House],"
says one nervous House Republican. "It's that we feel we must." Survival is a basic instinct."

How Gullible are We?

 Link

 Excerpt:
Never before has one word, or its relentless repetition, done so much for one man as the word "terror"
("terra" in Texanese) has for the Texan who now resides in the White House. No other word, it seems,
has done more to sustain and enhance Bush's fame among a certain naive group of Americans.
The word terra remains the cornerstone of this administration's past, present and future plans of action.
Be it Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Katrina, domestic elections, the holding of sham legislations, the Gitmo Gulag,
the discovery of torture dungeons or the scandal of spying on its own citizens, no American crisis has
ever been strong enough to withstand the administration's mantra of terra, terra, terra.

Kabul like Baghdad

 Link

 Excerpt:
Standing behind His Master Bush inside his Kabul palace yesterday, Hamid Karzai (R-Oil Puppet) radiated
the trappings of a powerful president: a confident smile, massed security guards and the legitimacy bestowed
by the 2004 election in which he won 55% of the vote. He appeared proud as Bush gushed praise on Karzai.
But outside the palace walls, Karzai's hold on power vacillates sharply...Beyond Kabul, Bush's Puppet's control
ranges from minimal to non-existent. "You have a government but you do not have a state, with institutions and
infrastructure," Ayesha Khan, of thinktank Chatham House, based in London.

Subject: your musical tastes

The Sex Pistols couldn't play.  They didn't have to.
The Stones can't play either.  Same for the Monkees, the Partridge Family etc..
Right place right time that's how it works.

How many times have you come across a smokin band playing in a local dive?
I know I have many times(at least five I can think of right off hand).
Talent and good musicianship are great things, but sadly,
they are niether essential for success or gaurantees of it.

Dude, I thought I was the only one.
I'll bet neither of us ever heard the five best guitarists of all time,
because they never got discovered or maybe they cared "too much" for the wife and kids.

In 1975, one of the best guitar players I ever saw put a motor in my 1974 LeMans.
He couldn't make a living playing live rock in a college town - and he smoked on guitar.

Someone else wrote and said, "The Pistols weren't a band, they were a political statement."
That's what I sorta meant to say, but I'm held back by my IQ of 64.

Subject: Bush following Clinton

Bush has obviously had more than his share of problems the last 5 years. It seems that we have witnessed
one disaster after another and a whole list of scandals. In addition, Bush has had to follow one of the greatest
presidents of all time in terms of accomplishments. Bill Clinton gave us unprecedented peace and prosperity
for 8 years. He never sent a man into battle that didn't come back alive.  Clinton presided over the greatest
economy in U.S. history. Records were set for the Dow and NASDAQ. He created over 20 million new jobs.
He gave us a record budget surplus. During his presidency we could truly be proud to be American.

George W. Bush lied us into an unnecessary war. Bush condoned illegal torture. He showed unparalleled
incompetence for victims of Katrina.  Bush condoned spying on Americans. He let Arabs take over many of our ports.
Bush turned a record budget surplus into a record deficit. He has no negligible new job creation in 5 years.
His war designed to enrich war profiteers and big oil companies is turning into a Civil War.
How many more or our troops will die for nothing?
Bush's approval rating is 34% and heading south.

It's time to end the madness know as the Bush presidency.
We need to impeach the incompetent and corrupt president.

GOP CD Gathers Data
Bastards are spying on the faithful

 Link

 Excerpt:
A computer disk that the Minnesota Republican Party prepared to support a ban on
gay marriage has another purpose: gathering data on the politics of the people who view it.

And that's stirred up a technological tempest on the Internet and among Democrats who say
the disk will improperly gather data from people who run it on their computers. Privacy experts
say they're concerned that the GOP won't adequately warn users that it's collecting the data,
and they worry where the information will end up.

But GOP officials said the final version of the CD that's due to be mailed soon to hundreds of
thousands of Minnesotans will contain a notice that the information gathered may be used by the party.

Translation: Now that they've been caught, they're forced to notify their victims.

Subject: Jessica Alba and Playboy

Hey Bart,

Even if it is a publicity ruse on Alba's part insofar as going after Playboy in a public sense,
Playboy still acted unethically (and basically illegally) by using a stock publicity photo of Alba
that was taken on the set of her film "Into the Blue" to promote an article in the magazine.

Dude, I may be undefeated in court (306 wins) and I'm no lawyer, but isn't the point of a
publicity photo to get others to run it and talk about the subject in the photo?
Britney and Lindsay and Paris don't give written permission to run their pictures.

In other words, Alba never posed for Playboy;

Well Playboy never said she did.
I said it was a posed picture, meaning it's not a papparazzi shot of her at the mall.
They awarded her the honor, "Sex Star of the Year."
No harm in that for a girl who makes her living wearing bikinis and low-cut tops.
Can you sue if someone sets your career forwards?

Playboy acquired an image and put it on the cover to promote a story in the magazine
that happened to mention Alba, but was not solely about her.

She's a public figure - why can't a free press mention her, with a picture?

This is an _easy_ win for her in terms of gaining financial remuneration from Playboy.
MDG

I'll bet you a shot of Chinaco Anejo that Playboy doesn't write her a check.
