Katrina Report Rips Der Monkey
Even 'Jomentum' critical of his pal George

 Link

 Excerpt:
A Senate inquiry into Katrina failures ripped Bush anew Thursday and urged the scrapping of FEMA.
But with hurricane season just weeks away, senators conceded that few if any of their proposals could become reality in time.

The bipartisan investigation into one of the worst natural disasters in the nation's history singled out Der Monkey
and the White House as appearing indifferent to the devastation until two days after the storm hit.

It said the Homeland Security either misunderstood federal disaster plans or refused to follow them.
And it said New Orleans for years had neglected to prepare for large-scale emergencies.

FEMA worked great under Clinton.
When Bush "fixed" it, it went to hell.

Armed Madhouse

 Excerpt:
Here is our new world of militarized greed, where America's panic over lunatics with box-cutters
has metastasized into a billion-dollar fear industry; where Republicans sucking on Super-sized Slurpies
are hunting dark-skinned voters to eliminate their rights; where James Baker's fixer in alligator boots
sets up the grab for Iraq's oil on her way to the rodeo; where miners are suffocated by the same
investment bankers who are siphoning off auto workers' pensions. I add 50 illustrations, including
those intriguing ones marked 'secret' by the State Department and the World Bank, plus a brilliant
recipe for shrimp curry -- and Dick Cheney.

FBI After Jack Anderson (Deceased)
  by Molly Ivins

 Link

 Excerpt:
For some reason, (Bush's) FBI thinks Jack Anderson had some papers involving two employees of the
American Israel  Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) who have been criminally charged with receiving classified
information. That case is a crock in itself, and to use it to dig through Anderson's archived stuff is just ludicrous.

Among Anderson's targets of old was the Federal Bureau of Investigation itself - gee, still worried he might
have photos of J. Edgar Hoover in a dress after all these years?

Gas prices

It cost me $44 to fill up yesterday.
When Clinton was president, it cost me $24 to fill up.

That extra $20 was profit for the oil bastards and their White House puppet.

        "Duh!"

I didn't give that extra $20 to them, they stole it from me, the same way
they're stealing an extra $20 a week out of every gas tank in every car in America.

Since most families have two people (at least) working, that's $40 a week
that BIG OIL is taxing us - call it $2000 a year, the blod-thirsty bastards.

Is that why 2396 military families lost a member?
So Bush and his oil bastards could steal an extra $2000 a year from every family?

Subject: Lend and forgive cycle

U.S. Secretary of the Treasury John Snow said Sunday that the United States should end it's policy
of lending money to poor nations and forgiving the debt. I question if it's wise to take that position now
that we are 9 trillion dollars in debt ourselves. At some point in the future we are going to have to stop
our borrow and spend policies and start paying down our national debt.

If America takes a harsh position against the debt of poor countries then who will have compassion for us
when we come to the world with our hat in our hand asking for help? America needs to be compassionate
towards others and fiscally responsible for our own borrowing. Right now we are neither.

Rosie O'Donnell Takes Over 'The View'
Will the other three ever get to talk?

 Link

 Excerpt:
Rosie O'Donnell is expected to make a surprise return to daytime television
by taking over exiting Meredith Vieira's slot on the talk show "The View."

O'Donnell's appointment was reported Thursday by the newsmagazine "Extra."
It was confirmed by a person close to the show.

Which O'Donnell will screech the most?
The "I love Bush and Bill Clinton makes me sick" O'Donnell?
Or the "I hate both Clintons and the Bushes" O'Donnell?

Good luck getting a word in edgewise, girls.
Can you see O'Donnell sharing anything with three other people?

Sleepwalking Nightmare
 by Gene Lyons

 Link

 Excerpt:
Has the White House lost its collective mind? Do the president and his minions believe that Americans
can be stampeded into another needless war to save his party from the consequences of the catastrophe in Iraq?
Is the Bush administration seriously thinking of bombing Iran for political purposes? Of a nuclear strike?
Is it actually possible that Bush believes himself to be on a divine, messianic mission? If the answer to any of
these questions is yes, then our democracy may be sleepwalking into its worst crisis since the Civil War.
A pre-emptive strike on Iran, because it might hypothetically develop nuclear weapons five or 10 years hence,
would be a naked act of aggression. Not to mention an offense against the U. S. Constitution.

Subject: Dem-bashing

Bart,

I enjoy your site and think you have a lot of good info and insights.
I don't agree with your constant Dem-bashing, however.

If there were a third party we could go to and vote for in November, I'd say good on you, but there isn't!
What is our alternative to voting Democrat? They're our only hope (for now) to awaken from the Bush nightmare.

Not only that, but what exactly is it that you'd like the Dems to do?
 Madame B

I want Democrats to:
Stop snivelling!
Speak in plain, simple terms, not 20-letter words in 80-word sentences
Pretend what they do is important
Stop attacking each other and go after the Republicans
Stop giving Bush the benefit of the doubt.

Foreclosures Up 63 Percent
Bush is killing the middle class

 Link

 Excerpt:
The 2006 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, which shows 101,597 properties nationwide entered some stage
of foreclosure in March, a 13 percent decrease from the previous month but a 63 percent increase from March 2005.
The report shows a March national foreclosure rate of one new foreclosure for every 1,138 U.S. households.

Jobs lost, interest rates rising, cost of gas rising, soldiers dying...

What happened to the "Misery Index" they invented to ridicule Jimmy Carter?
Did the Obedient Media shelve that to protect Bush from setting new Misery records?

Subject: Doonesbury

Bart, right now I think the current Doonesbury strip is as heart-pounding as "24".
I've been reading Trudeau since Day 1, and this might be his best stuff yet,
and that is really saying something.

Thursday's strip? Man oh man…

Keep swinging the hammer!
 Dan In Boulder

Dan, I agree.
Like Jon Stewart, Trudeau is doing the work the "serious" media are afraid of.
Reading the strip, you get a feeling of the panic and the stupidity of the giant clusterfuck
that Bush sent these untrained, unarmored men into for no other reason than personal greed.

I've read stories of truck drivers and medics and accountants who get to Iraq expecting to do
their jobs, then suddenly, a gun is thrust into their hands and they're told to sweep a neighborhood
house-to-house looking for bastards like Zarqawi the Beheader - with no training!

Another thing Trudeau is doing - did you see that strip a while back when BD with the PSTD
and the blown-off leg said his daughter was afraid to be alone with him because he'd "go off?"

Who else is even talking about that?
We've got (or will have) 300,000-500,000 mentally shaken kids (I'm 53, that's what I call them)
trying to adjust to life back home, where a slammed door makes them fall to the ground in fear.

And when that Bush bastard was running in 2000, at every stop he told the military families,
"Don't worry, because help is on the way."

by my good friend Howie Klein

 Excerpt:
Conventional wisdom has pretty much made it clear that Bush and his regime are incompetent, venal and corrupt
and that his war is one of the most catastrophic foreign policy blunders every made by a U.S. president. What Neil
has done with LIVING WITH WAR is made these idess easily digestible for post-literate western society at large.
He's managed to create a body of work that will help make it easy for people to talk about the war, Bush's
short-comings and how to deal with them. But who's going to stop Bush and the crazed, obsessed fanatics he's
surrounded himself with? LIVING WITH WAR will filter up into political policy circles, not with answers but
with the questions he's raised from us and for us.

Subject: What's fair is fair

Bart,

I heard a conservative talk show blow hard this morning defending the retiring CEO of Exxon
that is getting the $400,000,000 going away package. He said that the guy deserved whatever
he could get, like ball players that make millions a year. OK, that's fine, but this is the same guy
that cries and rants when the want to raise the minimum wage to 7 bucks an hour.

WTF!

It's OK for this guy to get two power ball jackpots plus the millions he was paid as salary for the years
he worked, but don't give single mom's, kids starting out and families that are not sure where the money
to pay the food and electric bills is going to come from a couple thousand dollars A YEAR to survive.

Yeah, that's fair and balanced.
Douche bags.

Dennis in STL

Dude, it sounds like you're reading from the NaziCon 2004 Platform.
Not only are you correct, but they're not even bothering to deny it.

Bush tells idiot voters,
"When I give the oil companies a billion dollar tax cut, you're better off."

And the voters buy it, year after year.

If every voter who lost money under Bush would vote Democrat,
we'd win 80 percent of the House and the senate this year.

Subject: stop being stupid

If you do not know the difference between music, which is about performance and interpretation,
often of someone else's songs, and writing a column, you're dumb enough to be a Bush voter.

The Seegar Sessions are not Springsteen's finest work, but his interpretations of classic songs
are nonetheless excellent. If you want "new," ahve you heard "Devils and Dust"?
Take a listen and then tell me in your best Tony Snow voice that it's weak writing.

Or if that doesn't do it for you, check out another fine US songwriter, John Prine.
His recent cd is among the best he's ever produced.

If you like Springsteen more than I do, that means I'm:

Subject: gas prices

Bart, last issue, JD Wrote:

> Supplies would increase, prices would decrease,

Not true, supplies would stay the same or lower because the BFEE would reduce pumping and refining.
The cost would go up because the BFEE would still expect the same revenue stream with lower usage.
 Paul

Paul, I agree.

They would have a refinery "fire."
Then an "unexpected storm" would cause damage to some piece of equipment, somewhere.
Then a sub-prince in Nigeria would stub his toe on a heavy chair.
Then Bush would invade Iran, kill all their leaders, and convert them to Christianity.
Then a hurricane would "damage" some out-of-commission oil platforms, etc.
Then, summer would surprise them AGAIN and they'd be caught short-handed.

With those oil bastards, what goes up does not come down.

Disturbing Trend...

You know I like Jon Stewart, but he's getting bigger.
In Jon's case, that might not be great news.

Lately, he's been getting "A List" celebrities on his show, that's the good news.
The bad news is, the "A List" celebs are only there to promote their latest project.
I hate to say this, but to some degree, he's turning into Jay Leno.

Before he got big, he'd talk *politics* with his guests, but not anymore.
When Jon has on a big, big star, they talk about how great and funny the new movie is.

That's not why I watch Jon Stewart.

Subject: The $100 bribe

In the face of rising gas prices and record profits by the oil companies the Republicans have a
brilliant idea as to how to fix the gas price crisis. The solution - give everyone a $100 election year bribe.

It's not just that it's a really bad idea, but that the Republican's think the voters are dumb enough to fall for it.
Or maybe they understand the voter, which is even worse.
I guess they are so used to getting bribes that it never occurs to them that it's wrong.
We are a nation in serious trouble.

Once the sick bastard invades, that's 5M barrels a day
times today's oil price which is  $70.97 a barrel
makes $354,850,000 dollars Bush will steal daily

That's a third of a billion dollars every day

Bush's Economic Typhoon

 Link

 Excerpt:
Gold traders love George Bush. They know that his blundering mismanagement of the economy will keep
gold soaring well into the future. In the last year alone gold increased nearly $200 an ounce capping off a
5 year run that has taken it from $274 per ounce to $635 at Friday's close.

These are serious numbers and they reflect the uneasiness with the global political situation (Iran, Nigeria)
as well as concern about the oceans of debt generated by our Oval Office numbskull.

After 6 years of looting the public till, the cupboard is just about bare. Bush has chalked up another $3 trillion
of public debt which sounds the death-knell for Social Security, public education, and the social safety net.
