Quotes

"It sucks. Honestly, it just feels like we're driving around waiting to get blown up.
That's the most honest answer I could give you. You lose a couple friends and it gets hard."
--Spec. Tim Ivey, 28, in Baghdad, "'Waiting to Get Blown Up'",  WaHoPo

"Think of what you hate most about your job. Think of doing that for five straight hours,
every single day, sometimes twice a day, in 120-degree heat. Then ask how morale is.
 Frustrated? You have no idea."
--Army Staff Sgt. Jose Sixtos,   WaHoPo

There's no end to "and what makes it worse is..." but I saw Rummy on TV today saying
the men who thought they were coming home just got transfered from Mozul to Baghdad
where they'll have to do another four months before they're scheduled to go home.

And I don't want to attack the soldiers or their families, but where the hell are they?
Why are they being so quiet about what they're going thru?

If this war ever ends, we're going to hear how much they're suffering, with lost limbs,
lost sight, lost memories, broken marriages (not to mention the thousands dead) but
if they'd speak up now they might save others from their fate - but they're quiet.

They should be doing what Cindy Sheehan is doing.
Cindy says, "I don't want other mothers to lose a child the way I have,"
but the great majority of military families are sticking with Bush - why?

Seems to me, if they're going to complain (and their complaints are valid)
the time to do that is NOW, not later, when 5,000 men are dead.  Or 10,000.

Whose 'Moral Clarity'?
   by Robert Parry

 consortiumnews.com

 Excerpt:
George W. Bush is polishing up his "moral clarity" argument as he and Condoleezza Rice
signal to the Israelis that they should press ahead in crushing "terrorist" organizations like
Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza.

Yet if there is any place in the world that lacks "moral clarity" it is the Middle East - which is
why Bush's vision of the region has proved so dangerous. Rather than perceiving shades of gray
and finding areas of compromise, Bush insists that everything is black and white - and thus
justifies the use of overwhelming force to destroy evil wherever Bush sees it.

But even on issues where U.S. government officials and leading pundits speak in unison
- denouncing "terrorist" groups like Hezbollah, for instance - there is far more ambiguity
than Americans are being told.

Take, for instance, the widespread agreement that Hezbollah earned the opprobrium as
"terrorist" because one of its suicide bombers destroyed the U.S. Marine barracks in
1983 killing 241 American servicemen in Beirut.

While this incident is routinely cited as the indisputable evidence that Hezbollah is an evil
"terrorist" organization, the reality is much murkier. Indeed, under any objective definition
of  "terrorism" the Beirut bombing would not qualify as a "terrorist" act.

Cruella demands Dean apologize

 Yahoo News

 Excerpt:
U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris (R-Too Much Makeup) demanded an apology
Thursday from Demo chair Howard Dean, who told the simple truth.

In Palm Beach, Dean made the remark in reference to Harris' handling of the 2000
presidential election fraud when she was Florida secretary of state and an honorary
chairslut of George W. Bush's Florida campaign.  Harris certified Bush's 537-vote win
in Florida over Gore, putting a Fascist in the White House for the first time ever..

Dean's crime?

Dean said that Bill Nelson is "going to beat the pants off Katherine Harris, who didn't
understand that it is ethically improper to be the chairman of a campaign and count
the votes at the same time. This is not Russia and she is not Stalin."

ha ha

Dean says Cruella is not Stalin - and Harris wants an apology?

ha ha

Howard - I say apologize to her - tell her she IS Stalin
and that you're damn sorry you got things backwards.

"Congress is the biggest single problem we have. This is a Congress that doesn't want
to ask questions, or if it asks questions is willing to take no for an answer. Here we are
three years into this war and there's not been a single significant hearing on the conduct
of the war. The division commanders have never been called up before Congress.
How did it go? What's your relationship with Rumsfeld like? Not a single general
has been relieved by the leadership."

Subject: did Jesus exist?

Bart, there were literally hundreds of gospels floating around by the time Paul was writing
in the 60's. However, when the 4 Gospels and other works were selected by the church for
the New Testament, most of these other Gospels were destroyed.

Also, although it is true that Jesus lived in a very literate time, most peasants were not literate
and it is likely that many of his followers were peasants. As to why Jesus is called "Jesus" and
not Joshua, the gospels we have are written in Koine Greek, not Aramaic or Hebrew, so it makes
sense from that respect. Just as Peter is referred to as "Peter" in most translations and not "Cephas".

It is likely that Jesus did exist historically, especially considering that there are a couple of historical
mentions of his crucifixion. In these mentions he does not seem to be a very important person, however.
Who and what exactly Jesus was is basically impossible to know; he could have been a great spiritual
leader or a schizophrenic or a hack magician or a doomsday prophet etc.

They Took Your Rights Away

 campdemocracy.org

 Excerpt:
Can you name the one country on earth where the government can steal elections,
strip away basic rights, spy on citizens, and launch wars based on lies, but where
the people do not take over the nation's capital in protest?

If you said the United States, you'll be wrong on September fifth when Camp Democracy
begins on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

At long last, Americans are preparing to say "Enough is enough," and to do what
Ukrainians, Mexicans, or any other people not drugged into acquiescence would do
when things got this bad: occupy the capital city to demand peace, justice, and accountability.

Your Bartness,

1) Andrea Yates testified to killing her children for religious reasons.
2) A Texas jury concluded that Ms. Yates killed her children.
3) The same Texas jury absolved her of guilt by reason of insanity.

Ergo

4) Texans implicitly concede that religion is insanity.

Govt. Contracts Abused
They were not - they were utilized

 WaHoPo

 Excerpt:
The multibillion-dollar surge in federal contracting to bolster the nation's domestic defenses
after 9-11 has been marred by extensive waste and misspent funds, according to a new report.

Lawmakers say that since the Homeland Security Department's formation in 2003, an explosion
of no-bid deals and a critical shortage of trained government contract managers have created a
system prone to abuse. Based on hundreds of audits, 32 Homeland Security Department contracts
worth a total of $34 billion have "experienced significant overcharges, wasteful spending, or
mismanagement," according to the report.

The WaHoPo is so surprised that billions of dollars are missing.
Duh!
Do you think Bush fabricated a war
so he could be honest with the accounting?

Yo'd think the WaHoPo never heard the phrase "evil men," until this year.

The Clintons bet on America, the Bushes bet against us.
The Clintons bet on peace, the Bushes own oil, which goes up in war.
The Clintons brokered peace agreements, the Bushes own gold, which goes up in war.
Clinton told the world, "Bet on America," when he paid down Reagan's deabt.
Bush borrows from others, because nobody wants to bet on a loser.
Clinton prevented terrorist attacks, Bush creates terror every day he's in office.
With Clinton, we had peace, a surplus, a Constitution and the world's respect.
What do we have now, besides 2560 dead soldiers?

These people who say, "They're all the same" aren't paying attention.

Ashamed to be Republican

 Excerpt:
Rep. Tom Reynolds (R-N.Y.), who is in charge of keeping Congress in GOP hands this fall,
is airing TV ads that make no mention of his party affiliation...  Reynolds is one of several House
GOP leaders who do not mention their party affiliation on their campaign websites. In ads posted
on their sites, Roy Blunt (R-Fascist) and Deborah Pryce (R-Crook) also fail to mention the GOP.

Army Dismisses Gay Arabic Linguist
We'd rather be attacked than let "one of them" protect us

A decorated sergeant and Arabic language specialist was dismissed from the Army under the
"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, though he says he never told his superiors he was gay and his
accuser was never identified. Bleu Copas, 30, told the Whore AP he is gay, but said he was
"outed" by anonymous e-mails to his superiors in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Ashcroft Nostalgia

 WaHoPo

 Excerpt:
Alberto Gonzales is achieving something remarkable, even miraculous, as attorney general:
He is making John Ashcroft look good.

I was no fan of Asdhcroftl, who may be best remembered for holding prayer breakfasts with
department brass, hiding the bare-breasted statue of Justice behind an $8,000 set of drapes,
and warning darkly that those who differed with administration policy were giving aid to terrorists.

But as I watched Gonzales testify last week, it struck me: In terms of competence (the skill with
which he handles the job) and character (willingness to stand up to the president), Gonzales is
enough to make you yearn for the good old Ashcroft days.

I, too, hate to say anything positive about that bastard, but apparently he resigned when
he learned Bush was breaking shitloads of laws and you almost have to respect him for that.

Almost.

Bart,
The polls after Big Dawg's visit showed an overwhelming number of people will not vote for Joe
because Big Dawg came to speak for him.  Bill is way too smart not to know that standing beside
Joe would kill Joe with all those Repugs that would vote for him as an Independent.

He praised Joe like he was a good puppy, not at all impassioned.
The Big Dawg didn't forget Holy Joe's Blow Job Sermon to the Senate -- and I think he just got payback!!

Subject: Skull & Bones

Bart,

I found this "white paper" written in 1991 that completly describes the history and power
of the Skull & Bones and what they stand for.  It is a compelling article that I could not stop reading.
The S&B is even more powerful than I ever thought and also more insane.  As you read this you will
see where the PNAC philosophy comes from.  Keep in mind this article was written in 1991 to describe
the mindset and goals of the first Bush.  Is it no wonder that they want his insane son in power now?

 Link

 Excerpt:
Despite the possible personal biases in these two accounts of the history of the Order of Skull & Bones,

it must be acknowledged that the membership of the society has tended over generations to converge
upon a small group of New England families who have intermarried and then sponsored their sons and
nephews into the Order. This kind of inbreeding always tends to produce narrow-mindedness and
prejudice against outsiders, which can be a serious shortcoming, particularly among individuals
responsible for charting the course of a nation as powerful as the United States.

Enjoy,
Chet

Don't forget the people of Iraq.
If they took a poll that asked, "Would you rather have Saddam back?"
I'd bet real money the majority would say yes.
