Bush Wants Wider War
   by Robert Parry

Bush and his neoconservative advisers saw the Israel-Hezbollah conflict as a chance to get
the Israelis to spread the war to Syria and achieve the long-sought goal of "regime change"
in Damascus. But sources say the Israeli government torpedoed the scheme, deciding instead
to concentrate on rooting Hezbollah guerrillas out of southern Lebanon

Misleading headline, because "the US" can't conspire.
They mean the BFEE was involved.

If we had a Democratic congress
we could put the guilty bastards under oath.

If they tell the truth, they go to prison.
If they lie, they go to prison.

Whitewash Panel had Doubts

The 9-11 commission was so frustrated with repeated misstatementslies by the Pentagon
and FAA about their response to 9-11 that it considered an investigation into possible deception,
the panel's chairmen say in a new book.

Republican Thomas Kean and Bush lapdog Lee Hamilton also say in "Without Precedent" that
their panel was too soft in questioning Giuliani - and that the investigation may have suffered for it.

Ya think?

The book, a behind-the-scenes look at the investigation, recounts obstacles the authors say were
thrown up by the Bush administration, internal disputes over Bush's misuse of the attacks as a reason
for invading Iraq, and the way the final report avoided questioning whether U.S. policy in the
Middle East may have contributed to the attacks.

That's fucking bullshit.
Hamilton was hired to cover this up because he was so helpful at covering up Iran Contra.

Job well done, Lee, and another black eye for the cowardly Democrats who let the Bushies
hand-pick their good ol' boys to "investigate" the biggest crime of the last 50 years.

"Whatever Bush wants, Bush gets.   He's the best president ever!"

"Unka Dick held my
  hand while we lied."

Govs bristle at latest Bush power grab

The nation's governors are closing ranks in opposition to a proposal in Congress
that would let Bush control the National Guard without consent of governors.

The idea, spurred by Bush's katrina disaster, is part of a House-passed version of
the National Defense Authorization Act. It has not yet been agreed to by the Senate.
The measure would remove the consent of governors for the federalization of the Guard,
which is shared between the individual states and the federal government.

"Federalization just for the sake of federalization makes no sense," said Gov. Blanco.
"You don't need federalization ... Just making quick decisions can make things happen."

Bush is a total disaster at everything he does.
He should be stripped of power, arrested and put on trial for war crimes,
felony stupidity and aggravated dumbfuckedness.

Subject: One of your subscribers has died

Hi Bart,

It's not a pleasant thing to have to do, but one of your suscribers has died.
It was my husband, Michael Hurley.
If you could stop his PayPal subscription, I'd appreciate it.

I didn't even know he'd become a subscriber until a couple of months ago.
I always kept telling him to go to visit
He finally did and liked it.

M, sorry you had to send that.
I can't fathom what you're going thru.
Your immediate future will be hell, but
as time goes by, the weight will be less.

Try to hang in there...

"So this was what was happening by the Summer of '86, when Barger and I finally did
a story - we had 24 sources by this point.  It wasn't like two sources, or three sources,
we were up to 24 and we did this story in June of '86 where we laid a lot of it out.
And finally Congress - which had been very afraid of touching this - the democrats were
extremely timid - finally Lee Hamilton, who was then Chairman of the Senate Intelligence
Committee takes our little story with the rest of the Intelligence Committee over to the
White House and they sit down with Ollie North and they say, "Colonel North - we have
this story that says you're doing these things which are kind of illegal, uh, what about it?"
He said, "It's not true," they said "Thank you," and they went back to Capitol Hill. And I
get a call from one of Hamilton's aides, and I'll never forget this, because it was probably
my worst moment in the whole Iran Contra Scandal - he tells me that Lee Hamilton has
looked into my story, and he had a choice between believing these honorable men at the
White House or my sources and it wasn't a close call."
-- Robert Parry, breaking Iran Contra, but "Whitewash" Hamilton shut it down     Link

Aryan Nation in Baghdad
 Why are they recruiting skinheads?

Where is it that the Vice Lords meet the Aryan Nation? Why, in Baghdad, where potential
domestic terrorists and "army of one" nutjobs are getting top-notch weapons instruction and
plenty of target practice. It's sure to come in handy when they get home. With the military
unable to meet recruitment goals for an unpopular war, gangbangers and white supremacists
are having a far easier time getting "moral waivers" to enlist.   The upshot: a future compromised
in yet another way, as we train and further desensitize the psychologically fragile and psychotically
embittered. Some of them, baptized in hellfire like McVeigh, the DC sniper a long list of others,
could turn around and bite us.

You're a 42 year old grandfather?  That's OK, we want you.
You're 100 pounds overweight?  That's OK, we want you.
You read at a 6th grade level?  That's OK, we want you.
You have emotional problems?  That's OK, we want you
You have anger management issues?  That's OK, we want you
Long and violent criminal record?  That's OK, we want you
Hate darkies and want to kill 'em?  That's OK, we want you

You a faggot?   Not in this army, mister!
We'd rather have another 9-11 than be warned by some fag translator!

Welcome to George Bush's military.

Mel's Tequila Sunrise
  by Maureen the Dragon

I asked Leon Wieseltier, editor of The New Republic, how he would help Mel heal.
"It is really rich to behold Gibson asking Jews to behave like Christians. Has he forgotten
how bellicose and wrathful and unforgiving we are? Why would a people who start all the
wars make a peace? Perhaps he's feeling a little like Jesus, hoping that the Jews don't do
their worst and preparing himself for more evidence of their disappointing behavior."

I wonder what kind of Cuervo the $300M man was drinking while driving?

Gibson charged with 3 crimes, not 5

Prosecutors charged Gibson with DUI, having an elevated blood-alcohol level
and an open container of liquor in his car when he was pulled over in Malibu last week.

Hmmm, I guess it's no surprise that the super-rich get special treatment.
After all, the vulgar Pigboy should be in jail for a bunch of crimes.

If you're not Mel Gibson and you drive 85 in a 40, you get charged with reckless driving.
If you're not Mel Gibson and you try to leave during a stop, you get charged with resisting arrest.

Katrina Diary

It took me three days to clear out the first floor. The only people in town were doing the
same sorta thing. I cut-up downed trees in my parents' yard for something like a week.
People helped each other. One day, I saw a sleek, smallish corporate-looking jet circling.
I figured it was Heckuvajob Georgie, and started gesticulating wildly, screaming
"FUCKYOUBUSHFUCKYOUFUCKYOU".   People who heard me looked at me
like I was crazy, I yelled "BUSH!! BUSH!!" and pointed at the jet. They joined in,
screaming at the jet and yelling "FUCKYOUFUCKYOU", at the jet. Then the jet
peeled off, and everyone went back to work.

Subject: your mideast argument

I think there are some points worth addressing in your current conflict argument.
If someone brings a missile launcher to your apt building YOU get the F out.
O.K. you have got that point all day.

No, the crazies refuse to conceed that point.
Survival is for cowards, haven't you heard?

The town of Qana was ruthlessly bombed under the claim that missiles came from that apartment.
The red cross was there and said no missiles came from there. Are they just a bunch of anti-semites too?

I have no opinion.
Some people say there were missles, some people say there weren't.
Who can we trust to tell the truth over there?

I was greatly disappointed to see you say that respected journalist Robert Fisk was 'like Mel'
inferring that anti-semitism caused him to report some untruth to merely slander the poor Jews.

His bias is clear - that's part of the problem.
Who can we trust to tell the truth over there?

Did you read Rachel Corrie's diary when it was published.
Was she just an anti-semite?   She was run over by a military bulldozer.

Bart's Law #3

Do not lay down in front of a bulldozer or a train or become a human shield.
The "president" will have you killed, rather than call off his bloody and profitable attack.
Apparently, the Israeli government feels the same way about protestors in front of tanks.

That's one difference between our president and a Chinese tank commander.
In China, when that man stood in front of the tank in Tienneman Square, the tank stopped.

In America and apparently, Israel, the "tank" keeps coming and crushes you.

Voting Bush's war
  by Helen Thomas

The political fate of Joe Lieberman (R-Kissyface) is on the line Tuesday in an election that has
become a referendum on Bush's war. Lieberman, an all-out supporter of Bush's Quagmire, is
being challenged by an anti-war political novice who is giving Lieberman a run for his political life...
I hope there is a grand awakening for the senator when he learns that voters do care why we got
into the war and, better still, how we can get out.

"Kiss me, Georgie, right on the lips!"

Joe, don't worry.
After CT voters fire your Bush-loving ass, you can get a job with the RNC.

Subject: Friday's breast picture

The picture is a child of Qana.

On the one hand you say "Tough luck.  They should have moved away from the rockets."
And on the other hand you use a picture of one of the victims as an example of "shocking [and] horrifying."

I hope you don't take this letter as a personal attack.
It wasn't meant that way.

The fact that you had to worsen my position down to "Tough luck,"
means my stated position isn't bad enough to cause the outrage you need.

It angers some people that I don't share their bias.

Lieberman loss could be hueueueueuege
America's history could change if an upset happens

The passion and energy fueling the antiwar challenge to Joe Kissyface could signal a power shift
inside the Democratic Party that could reshape the politics of national security and dramatically
alter the battle for the party's 2008 presidential nomination, according to strategists in both political parties.

I agree 100 percent.

A victory Lamont on Tuesday would confirm the growing strength of the grass-roots and Internet activists
who first emerged in Howard Dean's presidential campaign. Driven by intense anger at Bush and fierce
opposition to the Iraq war, they are on the brink of claiming their most significant political triumph,
one that will reverberate far beyond the borders here if Lieberman loses.

Once again, exactly right.

An upset by Lamont would affect her, who like Lieberman supported giving Bush authority to wage
the Iraq war, and could excite interest in a comeback by rightful-president Al Gore, who warned in 2002
that the war could be a grave strategic error. For at least the next year, any Democrat hoping to play on
the 2008 stage would need to reckon with the implications of Lieberman's repudiation.

Exact-a-mundo, and bet that she, unlike Bush, has an exit strategery already in place.

Even Kissyface backers are now expecting this scenario.
Two public polls in the past three days show Lamont with a lead of at least 10 percentage points.

Bye, Joe.
You can retire with Bush's love, and turn full-out Republican.

Also, if Kissyface somehow wins this primary, wouldn't that be the end of Diebold
and no-paper-trail electronic voting?  If Kissyface's own people expect him to lose by
10 or more points, how can the BFEE engineer an electronic upset for him?

If Lamont wins, it's immediate problems for Bush and the war-loving GOP bastards.

It would also embolden pink-tutu, bean-eating, nancyboy, surrender-monkey Democrats
to finally stand the F up and tell Bush and Rove that they're thru being their bitches.

Wouldn't that be great to see?

And it all happens TUESDAY night.

Let's get ready to rumble.

Casey leads Santorum by SIX

The latest poll shows Democratic challenger Bob Casey with a slight lead over
Republican sex freak Rick Santorum in their hotly contested Senate race.

The poll found 45 percent of the voters questioned supported Casey,
39 percent supported the sex freak, the No. 3 Senate Republican.

"I didn't leave my base, my base left me!"

Subject: stop being a Jag

Bart, your logic on the Lebanese civilians is totally skewed.

Moving away from danger is skewed thinking?

So, if a belligerent regional power says
"Hey, we're gonna destroy the area around your home, and maybe most of the
infrastructure in your country.", then it's the fault of the civilians when they die
because they didn't flee far and fast enough?  OK.

ha ha
Why did you ask ME the question if you were going to supply my answer?

Now explain to me how a woman walking in a bad neighborhood at night deserved to get raped.

If a woman is told a rapist just escaped prison and he's in her area,
*I* think it's a bad idea for her to sunbathe topless in the front yard.
Or will you argue she has earned the right to sunbathe nude?.

I think your opinion on this matter came about after a bottle of Chinaco
and a long discussion with a tumbleweed in your back yard.
  Jim in Illinois

Sober or not, being aware of danger is always a good idea.

Who knows the truth?

There were no rockets fired from Qana, Bart.
I know, the smart guy that you are.
Have not started listening, to the liars. You know, the ones who
have been lying to us for years - the mainstream media....

A rare miss for Perkel

Marc, you're normally dead-on nails with your takes,
but you've slammed the hammer on your thumb here.

Had Hezbollah not come across the border and kill/kidnap Israelis,
the rest of Lebanon -- that Israel was playing mighty nice with
-- wouldn't be under a constant blitz.

Israel respected Lebanon's right to exist.
It was Lebanon, i.e. Hezbollah, that doesn't respect Israel's right to exist.

Israel says Qana fired rockets, so they took out the launcher.
Others say there were no rockets fired from there.

Who knows the truth?

Israel says their border soldiers were kidnapped.
Anti-Israelis say they were caught on the Lebanon side - fair game.

Who knows the truth?

Every letter I get is from someone certain they have a monopoly on the truth.
They are so convinced, so adamant that their version is the correct one.
Anyone who disagree is not mistaken, no - we can't have that.
They are "criminals" who "enjoy murdering the little children."

Robert Fisk is biased against Israel, Christiane Amanpour is biased for Isdrael.
Both sides in this fight cite them as experts who wouldn't distort the facts.

Who knows the truth?

Dan writes and says, "Having factx helps," as if *I* have been lying.
People need to learn that sending me some link is NOT proof that they're right.

There are no facts coming from this war.
It's all spin.

Do you see why it's a mistake to even try to get into this?
Even if we could get hard facts, people aren't going to change their minds.

Moral of the story?
Religion kills.
Faith in the never-existed ghosts kills your kids.

People would rather watch their kids die than embrace logic.

Bush Blew a Guy

Iraq pumps 2,000,000 barrels a day,
(and that was before the 2003 Halliburton Upgrade)
times today's oil price which is going to $100 a barrel
makes $200,000,000 Bush will steal every day.

You heard it here first.
Oil is going to $100 a barrel, then to $200

No wonder they were so eager to start a war

Bush's "Bring 'em on" death taunt is up to...

more Americans than his old partner Osama.

The Methodists don't have one.

Instead of moving the entire population to Oklahoma (that would work)
why can't they just move and spread themselves out in America's fifty states?

Oh, that's right.

The Agony of New Orleans
Watch for it on HBO this month

When Spike Lee saw the first images of floating bodies and of desperate people, mostly black,
stranded on rooftops, he quickly realized he was witnessing a major historical moment. As those
moments kept coming, he spent almost a year capturing the hurricane's sorrowful consequences
for a four-hour documentary, "When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts," to be
shown on HBO this month...Mr. Lee's reputation helped get his camera crew into the city's
water-soaked homes, he said. It allowed him to stretch out a complex story, with themes of race,
class and politics that, he said, have too often been sensationalized or rendered in sound bites.
He received permission, for example, from Kimberly Polk to film the funeral of her 5-year-old
daughter, Sarena Polk, swept away when the waters ravaged the Lower Ninth Ward.
"She came to me in a dream," Ms. Polk says in the film. "She said, 'Mama, I'm falling.'

Where was George "I don't like black people" Bush those five days?

        "Lookie me, Pickles - I'm a gee-tar player!
By the way, those darkies can swim, right?"

I'll bet cash money that the people that changed the "patriotically" renamed Freedom Fries
back to french fries are blue collar workers in D.C. who knew no one would call them on
that change in the disfavored Bush trainwreck of history.

I don't want an inquiry into who did it,
I want to know who didn't ridicule the idiots who started it.

Once again, the cowardly Democrats let the GOP set the tone.
They should be rubbing their face in the fact that France was right,
but nooooooooooooooo.

They're too afraid to stand up and tell the truth.

Maybe the Lamont win will slap them back to their senses?

Caught, fired by his own team
 Cycle-boy had synthetic testosterone

Floyd Landis was fired by his team and the Tour de France no longer considered him
its champion after his second doping sample tested positive for not-natural testosterone,
indicating that it came from an outside source.

''The 'B' sample of Floyd Landis' urine confirms testosterone was taken in an exogenous way,''
Pierre Bordry, of the anti-doping council. The lab said the test was ''foolproof.''

The anti-doping council?
Who'd want to work for them? :)

Also, could the senate Democrats borrow some of that synthetic testosterone?
Karl Rove stole theirs and they're currently sac-less.

Did Clinton Kill Lieberman?

Clinton's Lieberman visit was widely viewed as the watershed event in that senate race.
The support of Bill, who still commands the loyalty and admiration of millions of Americans,
it was thought,  (?) would give Lieberman the jolt he needed to pull away from Ned Lamont.

Yet the latest poll, taken after Clinton, shows Lieberman falling far behind.
If Lamont wins, will mention Clinton's failure to change the electoral dynamic.

I'm not convinced those articles will be accurate.
I think it's entirely possible that Bill Clinton did make a difference in the race.
In favor of Ned Lamont.

I didn't read any further, this may've been a slam against our best president ever.
But I know Bill's sharp enough to serve his ice-cold revenge while making Kissyface smile.
