Bush Misleads On Iraq
by Bob Woodward, a known liar

Bob Woodward says that Bush has not told the truth regarding the level of violence in Iraq.
He also reveals key intelligence that predicts the insurgency will grow worse next year.
Wallace tells 60 Minutes this Sunday that Henry Kissinger (R-Bloody Hands) is advising Bush.

Woodward sats insurgent attacks against coalition troops occur, on average, every 15 minutes,
a shocking fact the administration has kept secret. "It's getting to the point now where there are eight-,
nine-hundred attacks a week. That's more than 100 a day. That is four an hour," says Woodward.

The situation is getting much worse, says Woodward, despite what the White House and the Pentagon
are saying in public. "The truth is that the assessment by intelligence experts is that next year, 2007,
is going to get worse and, in public, you have the president and you have the Pentagon [saying],
'Oh, no, things are going to get better,'" he tells Wallace. "Now there's public, and then there's private.
But what did they do with the private? They stamp it secret. No one is supposed to know,"
says Woodward.

"The insurgents know what they are doing. They know the level of violence and how effective they are.
Who doesn't know? The American public," Woodward tells Wallace.

Too bad Bob Woodward can't be trusted.
His honesty and loyalty sways more than Andrew Sullivan.

Subject: Did Kerry take a dive?

Hey, BC, haven't heard much about the hunt for the anthrax killers, have we?

The weenie Democrats have long disgusted me, even more so after seeing Skull-n-Bones
rich guy Kerry take a dive.  As you keep pointing out, all they'd have to do is state the facts
forcefully and repeatedly and (if there were a free and fair election) they would win.
But they choose not to.

Maybe there's a reason more sinister than deep-seated weeniehood?

For Kerry at least, there must have been more than weeniehood involved.
I'm convinced he really did take a dive.  Was he a mole?  Was he blackmailed?

Like a lot of mysteries, we won't know unless the do-er confesses.

Boys gone wild
 by Ted Rall

Right-wing Republicans are weird.
When gays and lesbians want to marry and raise kids in the suburbs, the right-wingers freak out.
"Perverts!" they scream at these bland strivers. But when supposedly straight soldiers in the army,
marines and CIA engage in male-on-male rape and other acts of homo-sadism so bizarre and extreme
they turn off the average, gay-marriage-craving civilian, Republican legislators think it's the best thing ever.

Think Abu Ghraib - Iraqi inmates led around like dogs on leashes. Iraqi prisoners, almost all later
released as innocent, stripped of their clothes and forced to pile on top of each other naked.

Hundreds of photos showed sex acts between and among soldiers and detainees. Male prisoners were
videotaped while being forced to masturbate and have sex with one another.  U.S. soldiers, CIA torturers
and private mercenaries hired by Bush's Defense Department sodomized them with flashlights and possibly
broomsticks. They were kept naked for days at a time. Some were smeared with feces.

I find it amusing that you are criticizing Senator Allen for allegedly using the n-word
30-something years ago, yet you use it frequently on your site.

Allen is a racist bastard who, his friends say, but the head off a deer and asked
where the nearest nigger family lived, then put that head in their mailbox.
That's different, believe it or not, than using the n-word in a quote or as humor.

Allen says that word is not part of his vocabulary - bullshit.
Ever hear a Republican talking off the record?
He says he hasn't used that word in 30 years - more bullshit.

If you ask, "Bart, have you ever used the n-word?" I'm going to say, "Yes."

Also, if you're going to bash Allen for his alleged (and unproven) racist past,
why don't you do the same to Robert Byrd, who is a well-known former Klansman?

Let me guess.
It's because Allen has a "R" after his name and Byrd has a "D" after his, right?

Allen's problems include:
A, he's a racist bastard and
B, he can't stop lying.

Since the "Macaca" racial slur, he's been caught in one lie after another.
His best chance to keep his senate seat involves duct tape over his pie hole..

And Byrd? He isn't running for president - he's about to retire.
I know Byrd is/was a racist, you know it, too.
Should I mention it every issue?

Torture legalized

Senate Republicans fought off limp opposition to Bush's plan to torture the whole world,
and pushed thru a bill the GOP says makes them the right group to govern.

GOP leaders laughed at the Democrats less-than half-assed efforts, ensuring final passage.
The bill would create legal torture, a first for Amerillla. It also describes - at times vaguely -
ways that the CIA can torture detainees, in effect granting the president wide leeway to
decide what is legally permissible.

I think I heard on AAR that rape is not illegal under this bill.

Now there's no need to murder the girl and her family after they rape her.
See? Bush is saving lives with this "rape her legally" bill.

Bush is calling this his "Murder Prevention" bill.

Subject: TV

You're watching a TV show and you're wondering why someone doesn't behave rationally.
IT'S NOT REALITY, IT'S TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kathy, believe it or not, I know it's not real.
Almost every time I write about a movie or a TV show, someone writes to ask
if I understand that movies and TV are scripted, with actors - I wonder why?

I have not watched television for most of my adult life.
I cannot understand how people live vicariously through a box in their home.
Turn off your television and get a life.

Otherwise, I enjoy your site.

I have failed to be clear.
I was trying to make two points:

It's illogical for a female detective to urge others to report a rape if she doesn't report hers.
IF one is a victim of a drug attack in public, there are steps you can take to minimize your danger.

I know it sounds superior to say, "I don't watch TV."
You can dismiss TV the rest of your life - it won't affect me at all.
Do you go to movies or read books or walk in the park?

Maybe you need to stop doing those things and get a life.

The Death of AAR

AAR fired Mike Malloy - allegedly to save money.

Then they cut back Randi from 4 hours to three.
Want to bet they cut her pay 25% as well?

Springer is gone - couldn't afford his salary?

Thursday, Al Franken told Wolf the Whore he hadn't been getting paid
and that AAR was staying alive on a "day to day basis."

So how did they fuck that up?

You would think they could survive just on New York City revenues.
How can they be on in 30 cities and can't stay on the air?

I talked to a recently fired AAR insider (not Mike Malloy) and he said,
"Air America Radio is what happens when you form a corporation
 to solve America's problems."

I also heard a rumor that Al Franken gets more than $1M a year,
but they had to release Malloy for making less than $100K?

Bottom line - soon you'll turn on AAR and it won't be there.

So how did they fuck that up?

"In 1976, the Bush family sent George W. Bush to El Paso's Worthy Creations,
a Christian gay conversion center. From that time on, Bush became a tool of the
Christian right and a self-hating homosexual. The investigation of Bush's gay

Hey Bart!

Here's an idea that might help us save America!
We need to take a page from the Iraqi election.

If every person in America who votes Democratic  were to dip their fingers in BLUE INK
and showed them to the TV Cameras as they exited their polling stations we'd have indisputable
PROOF of a majority that the Diebold machines couldn't take away from us.

It would take some organizing to get videocameras set up everywhere and it would require some
bravery on the part of common citizens to publicly display how they voted but I believe a lot of
people are fed up enough to take this action to be sure their votes count!

Time is running out!

Keep swinging, Bart!

Jerry, great idea, but we'd need to get the big websites involved

Bush hides new NIE report
It must be bad if Bush is hiding it

Demo Rep Jane Harman disclosed the existence of a classified intelligence community report
that gives a grim assessment of the situation in Iraq, and called for it to be shared with the
American public - before the November elections.

White House Homeland Security Advisor Fran Townsend acknowledged the existence
of the report, but said it wouldn't be available until January 2007:

"My understanding is the planned release date, given the work that must be done to have it
be comprehensive and complete, is January of '07. But I will tell you, that's still quicker than
most NIEs get done. The timing has nothing to do with the election," he said with a straight face.

Remember right after 9/11 when Kindaloser Rice said "nobody could have foreseen airplanes
being hijacked and used as missiles"?  I am sure there was a movie about that very thing.

It was called "Executive Order"or something like that.
Some guys hijacked a 747 and they were headed for NYC.  (What a coincidence!)

Anyhow, the military had some kind of new gizmo so they could transfer some men from a bomber
flying just below the belly of the Boeing.  They foiled the plot at the last minute, just before POTUS
was going to have to give the order to shoot the plane down in order to save New York.

Anyway, my point is that somebody DID foresee the 9/11 scenario, or something close to it.
Unfortunately it was not Bush, nor was it his (our?) National Security Advisor, Kindaloser.
Otherwise 9/11 probably wouldn't have happened.

Dave, when you read about the Lone Gunmen Pilot Episode,

Osama's terrorists could hijack an airliner and fly it into government buildings like the Pentagon.

"al Qaeda suicide bombers belonging could crash-land an aircraft with high explosives,
CIA headquarters or the White House," the September 1999 report said.

In Case I Disappear
 by William Rivers Pitt

I have been told a thousand times at least, in the years I have spent reporting on the lies and failures
of the Bush administration, to watch my back. "Be careful," people always tell me. "These people are
capable of anything. Stay off small planes, make sure you aren't being followed." A running joke
between my mother and me is that she has a "safe room" set up for me in her cabin in the woods,
in the event I have to flee because of something I wrote or said.

I always laughed and shook my head whenever I heard this stuff. Extreme paranoia wrapped in the
tinfoil of conspiracy, I thought. This is still America, and these Bush fools will soon pass into history,
I thought. I am a citizen, and the First Amendment hasn't yet been red-lined, I thought.

Matters are different now.

Habeas corpus has been suspended for detainees, so the rule that a person can face his accusers is now gone.
Once a suspect has been thrown into prison, he does not have the right to a trial by his peers.
Suspects must accept one of Bush's military lawyers as their defender.

Yes, torture is legal now - so is rape.
Bush has been kidnapping at random, hoping to catch "one of them."

If the Democrats could find the courage to disagree, I think the nation would follow them,
but they just stood there and pretended they were powerless while Bush raped the Bill of Rights.

Twelve Democrats voted for torture:
Tom Carper (DE),
Tim Johnson (SD),
Mary Landrieu (LA),
Frank Lautenberg (NJ),
Kissyface (of course)
Bob Menendez (NJ),
Bill Nelson (FL),
Ben Nelson (NE),
Mark Pryor (AR),
Jay Rockefeller (WV),
Ken Salazar (CO), and
Debbie Stabenow (MI)

Subject: Americans who died on Bush's watch

Bart, you forgot the civilian contractors who have died in Iraq.
I heard Barry McCaffrey, on Hardball say that about 600 civilian contractors
have already died with about 1300 wounded.....add that to the military death toll
because they are doing jobs that the military would ordinarily do...

L, that number sounds crazy-low to me.
Bush has unlimited money from a black budget.

He could be paying former special forces $10,000 a month each - or more.
At those prices, and with Bush's economy, they'd have another small army.

Clinton fights back
 by Gene Lyons

Something shocking and unusual happened recently on "FOX News Sunday." A prominent Democrat
took issue with host Chris Wallace's cheap-shot interview techniques, made him look foolish and
completely out of his depth, and left him whining about his subject's bad manners. Unfortunately, that
prominent Democrat Bill Clinton, whose political career is history. Even so, after a week most Democratic
officeholders spent huddled under their desks like schoolchildren, seemingly fearful of challenging Bush's
disgraceful advocacy of torture, it was bracing to see at least one Democrat speak his mind. Instructive, too.

Then Clinton did something Bush rarely does when journalists irk him.
He answered the question.

Hey Bart!

Tired of all those Hillary-haters?
Sick of hearing how she's 'no better than the GOP'?

Hillary scores in the high 90's. in almost every poll.

She scored a 95 with the ACLU, NAACP, NARAL etc.
The two handjob Okie senators scored 3

Yet some Nader fans continue to spead the insanity that
they are twins, programmed and employed by the same evil forces.

I see a difference between 95% and 3%.
Nader fans have been sold the lie that 95 and 3 are equal.

When to storm the school?

   Sheriff's son was inside

The man in charge of defusing the hostage situation at a Colorado high school
emotionally defended his decision after the death of the gunman and one hostage.

"I'll be honest, I was scared to death," Sheriff Fred Wegener said, his voice breaking.
"Nobody ever wants something like that happen at their school certainly we've talked
about, we've trained for it. I was just praying we were doing the right thing."

Officers who once were taught to wait for SWAT teams are now trained in "active shooter"
programs that call for officers to enter and quickly locate the gunman, Trump said.

"That means in those situations, they're trained to walk past injured people on the floor," Trump said.
"You neutralize the shooter so that you can save additional people from being injured and killed.

Subject: U2 is like going to church - without all the horseshit

Actually, Bart, U2 _is_ going to church.
Bono has a really, really special position among believers:

I can't remember whether you pointed me to Bono's Sermon.
Bono is the antidote to goons like Benny Hinn and Robert Tilton.

Bono's sermon

If you're wondering what I'm doing here, at a prayer breakfast, well, so am I.
I'm certainly not here as a man of the cloth, unless that cloth is leather.
It's certainly not because I'm a rock star.
Which leaves one possible explanation:
I'm here because I've got a messianic complex.

 ha ha

Yes, it's true. And for anyone who knows me, it's hardly a revelation.

Well, I'm the first to admit that there's something unnatural...something unseemly
...about rock stars mounting the pulpit and preaching at presidents, and then disappearing
to their villas in the south of France. Talk about a fish out of water. It was weird enough
when Jesse Helms showed up at a U2 concert...but this is really weird, isn't it?

I get e-mail, "Oh Bart, there's your hero, Bono, kissing Bush's ass again."

Bono and Clinton are both better men than me.
Bono worked his way into the position that he could ask Der Monkey,
"Give me $10 billion for Africa and I'll treat you better than I treated your Dad."

Der Monkey, always the whore for political capital, agreed - so Bono sold out?

I've never been to Africa. I've never seen a village of starving kids.
Bono has, so if he feels like he needs to make a deal with Neo-Hitler to save their lives,
I'm not going to attack him for that because he didn't need to go to Africa for the photo op.

Why I hate Bill Clinton
  by Nora Ephron

So Bill Clinton was sandbagged by Chris Wallace. By Chris Wallace? And he lost it.

Lady (probably) Wallace was the host - who else can sandbag you in a 1-on-1 interview?

And he wasted a TV appearance - when he could have been talking about taking back Congress
-- talking about (no surprise) Bill Clinton.

He was answering the questions asked by the host.
Was his performance that good that this snotty nit-picking is all you've got?

Poor Bill Clinton. The victim of Fox News, the media arm of the right-wing conspiracy.

Does this make any sense - even to the Clinton haters?
We have a Democrat fighting back with the truth and this nut mocks him for it?

The man who went after Bin Laden and was accused of wagging the dog.
'I tried,' he said. I tried? How lame is that?"

She apparently wants Bush to look better than Clinton.
Clinton tried, Bush never did, and see mocks that, too?
If a fireman gets third degree burns but fails to locate a child
in a burning house, would Nora mock him, too?

"I tired? How lame is that?"

I don't understand the need for lefties to fabricate "evidence" against the Clintons.
If they are the worst people of all time, why fabricate "evidence" like this?

"I tired? How lame is that?"

I haven't been able to listen to that since the sixties, when Werner Erhard, of all people,
became famous for demolishing that excuse. When people said "I tried" to Werner Erhard,
he would put a glass on a table and say to them, "Try to pick that up."

Oh really?
Catching bin Laden is as easy as lifting a glass from a table?

Would I be out of line using the c-word here?
