How Neocons Duped U.S.
    by Robert Parry

 consortiumnews.com

 Excerpt:
How did the United States get into the Iraq mess, which has claimed the lives of more than 2,800
U.S. soldiers and possibly hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. What went wrong with Washington
and what can citizens do about it?

Part of the answer to what went wrong is that the normal checks and balances - in Congress,
the national news media and the U.S. intelligence community - collapsed in the face of Bush's
determination to invade Iraq. Pro-war neoconservative opinion leaders also acted as intellectual
shock troops to bully the few voices of dissent.

Now, the Senate Intelligence Committee has issued a post-mortem on how the INC influenced
this life-and-death debate. The report reveals not only specific cases of coached Iraqi "defectors"
lying to intelligence analysts but a stunning failure of the U.S. political/media system to challenge the lies.

Courting The Bigot Vote

 tompaine.com

 Excerpt:
Ah, autumn -a brisk snap in the air, the deep hues of trees changing colors and
Republicans telling you that black men are coming to have sex with your daughters.
All right, that isn't completely accurate.

Black men are coming to have sex with your daughters, Republicans warn, but gays
are also going to turn you into one of them, and if we don't act soon the halls of power
will be crawling with sex perverts.

We've all heard about the ad directed against Harold Ford in Tennessee, in which a ditzy young
closes the ad with, "Harold, call me!" - and you know what they'll be doing if he does. But that
isn't even the most racist ad that has been aired in that state, nor is the one that features thumping
jungle drums every time Ford's name is mentioned.

Subject: Kerry

You've been going on and on all this time about timid Democrats who cringe and cower
in their pink tutus while these rightwingnuts smear them with impunity.  Then Kerry fires back
(way too late for him, I'll admit) and what do you do....join those same rightwingnuts in spinning
what really happened, taking everything way out of context, making the most outrageous conclusions,
and piling on Kerry.

Kerry fired back?  What attack was he responding to?

He wasn't answering an attack - he was just screwing up.
He screwed up the stupid joke, then he screwed up the damage control.
Democrats had momentum and then Kerry gives them an early Christman present.

THIS is why Democrats do not win elections.
Rather than defend our own against Republican sharks, we join in the feeding frenzy ourselves.

He did something super-stupid - twice - and I expressed my outrage.

I'm pretty damn tired of the rightwing deciding what it is America should be outraged about.
Kerry flubbing a joke about der monkey is not the issue....but thanks to some on the left,
including you Bart,  it is now.

Jay in Kansas

You seem to think if *I* handled this differently, it wouldn't have been an issue on
ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX, the NYWTimes, the WaHoPo etc etc etc.

I wish I was one percent as influential as you think I am.

Subject: Your heroine at work

 Link

 Excerpt:
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton: "What Senator Kerry said was inappropriate and we can't let it
divert us from looking at the issues that are at stake in our country. We do need a new policy in Iraq."

The people who came to listen to her agree with her thoughts on Kerry's comments.

Marie: "I think she's doing a wonderful job. That's one thing I will say."

Sal: "It was definitely taken out of contest but he did misspeak. Frankly he should have apologized.
It would have been a lot easier to just apologize and get it over with. By taking the stance he took
- it was a very aggressive stance - he might have hurt Democrats a little bit, I don't know."

Kerry did misspeak.
What Kerry said was inappropriate.
Kerry was late to apologize for screwing up.

Should She be penalized for being right? Koresh, she was speaking at a VFW event.
Agreeing with Kerry's accidental statement that soldiers are stupid is a bad idea at a VFW event.
Can we direct some anger at the guy who screwed up - twice?

Also, she's not "my heroine."
She's the Democratic front runner to defang the heartless BFEE bastards.

Maliki orders our troops to stand down

 Link

 Excerpt:
The move lifted a near siege that had stood at least since last Wednesday. U.S. military police
imposed the blockade after the kidnapping of an American soldier of Iraqi descent. The soldier's
Iraqi in-laws said they believed he had been abducted in the Karrada area of Baghdad, where U.S.
military checkpoints were also removed as a result of Maliki's action. The crackdown on Sadr City
had a second motive, U.S. officers said: the search for Abu Deraa, a man considered one of the most
notorious death squad leaders. The soldier and Abu Deraa both were believed to be in Sadr City."

Is the WaHoPo coloring the news to made Bush look good again?
Maliki ordered our generals to have the troops dismantle the checkpoints.
That's a lot different than U.S. military checkpoints were also removed as a result of Maliki's action.

That makes it sound like we decided to remove them.
If only we could get the truth from America's whore media.

Bart, could you please help me understand the 'Stockholm Syndrome,'
from which Mr. Sullivan seems afflicted?

Thanks, Bart.

I'm not sure the Stockholm Syndrome is the correct term.
The Stockholm Syndrome is when a captive or hostage begins to sympathize with his kidnappers.

Sullivan has always been a dirrty, rotten GOP whore.

Ann Coulter going to jail?

        "I'll be someone's BITCH"

 cbswhorenews.com

 Excerpt:
Ann Coulter has refused to cooperate in an investigation about whether she voted
in the wrong precinct, so the case will likely be turned over to state prosecutors.

Elections Supervisor Arthur Anderson said his office has been looking into the matter
for nearly nine months, and he would turn over the case to the state attorney's office by Friday.

Knowingly voting in a wrong precinct is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison,
said Mike Edmondson, a spokesman for the state attorney's office in West Palm Beach.
Edmondson said his office generally reviews such cases, then turns them over to local
authorities for a full investigation that could result in an arrest if intent is proven.

A Letter To Bartcop

 leftwingwackos.com

 Excerpt:
Recently I expressed my opinion about Madonna to Bartcop.

It's pretty useless to take this any further, but in my reply email I'm just going to send him
the third paragraph below. If it still doesn't make sense to him then, I think it's a lost cause.
It's like he thinks I'm either for Madonna or against her, and if I'm against her, I must be
defending the media. Whatever! I've put the whole letter below, just so my ranting and
raving will offend both my readers!

In a nutshell, I saw your letter as a critique on Madonna's talent or lack thereof.
That's a whole different subject than the one I wrote about.

Sidebar:
I think Madonna made it to the top the same way Pete Rose did:
Not with the most "God given" talent, but by working harder than anybody else.

My problem is with the media jumping in and (we can't rule this out) giving the "father"
money to say bad things about Madonna to generate a story where none existed.

And if the kid has a "father," why was he in an orphanage?

Lastly, I like the idea of debating by linking to your website. That way I can't be
accused of "chopping out all the important points," as some have alleged.

Macaca blames Webb for scuffle

 Link

 Excerpt:
George Allen (R-Racist) entered the final week of his failing and sometimes bizarre campaign
refusing to denounce his supporters' manhandling of a man and accusing Webb of provoking the incident.
Polls show their race is close and could help determine whether the GOP retains its U.S. Senate majority.

Webb said he knew nothing of the incident Tuesday in which men wearing blue Allen lapel stickers put
Michael Stark in a choke hold and slammed him to the floor after an Allen rally at a Charlottesville hotel.

"It was typical of the Webb campaign, wanting to provoke an incident," Allen said Wednesday.
He did not say why he believes the Webb campaign provoked the stunt.

Webb said he did not know Stark.

If you saw the film (not NBC's spliced-to-make-Macaca-the-victim version) you know
the man was pot in a choke hold and thrown to the ground for asking a question.

You can't do that - it's a crime to do that. It's called "battery."
That Stark fella neeeds to stop giving interviews long enough ti file charges.

If the cops look at that tape and refuse to press charges, then that means
it's legal to put people in a headlock and slam them to the ground.

Subject: Get off of John Kerry's Back!

Dear Bart,

John Kerry didn't say anything wrong!

Sure he did.
In his own words, he "botched" what he meant to say.

There was nothing in his joke about the military!

Are we talking about his "you end up in Iraq" comment?

You all who are criticizing him are the ones helping mr. bush and his minions.

Kerry's Milky Way-sized stupidity helped Bush.
I wish he'd keep his mouth shut for the next 5-6 days.

The truth was said, so what, they should get good grades, work hard, so they can
have a choice to work at a job because you had some education or wait until someone
with intelligence can take control of the White House or go into the military because of
a lie some idiot told to get some OIL that doesn't belong to him.

Thank you

Open letter to the people of Colorado

Subject:  Even if you hate marijuana, vote Yes on Prop 44

 Link

 Excerpt:
The current "war on drugs" depletes the resources and ability of the police, the prosecutors,
the judges and the jails, to apprehend, prosecute and incarcerate the sort of people we ALL
agree should be kept behind bars. In light of alcohol's ubiquitous use, it certainly seems unjust
to make marijuana illegal, but I want pot legalized to make more room in the criminal justice
system for REAL criminals to be dealt with harshly.

Even if you are a beer drinking, martini sipping, wine connoisseur hypocrite, please VOTE YES
on PROPOSITION 44 so we can put REAL criminals behind bars and keep them there.

Dr. Laura was involved with the creation of the doll to try make it as true to life as possible.

For $29.95 your Dr. Laura doll can rag on your other dolls for having serious problems.
Just keep her away from that Lance Bass action figure you just added to your collection.

I wonder how far apart that doll's knees can get?

Subject: Can we duct tape Kerry's mouth?

No damn kidding.  Not only does he make a mess trying to tell a joke
(how many campaigns will it take to convince him he can't do it?), but then
the same day Bush hands him an issue on a platter when they lifted the blockade
on Sadr City and decided to forget all about rescuing one of the soldiers Bush is
always so hot to exploit.

God knows what they're doing to that soldier, thanks to Guantanimo, Abu Ghraib,
our fearless AG, and No-brainer Dick.

No, we never leave a man behind - except when Bush's puppet in Baghdad tells us to,
so we can all pretend he's really in charge and the Iraqis are standing up so we can stand down.

So now we've abandoned a soldier, and it doesn't occur to Kerry to say,
"See, what did I tell you, they don't give a fuck about you, if you don't get a good education,
you'll get stuck in Iraq. This is what the Republicans stand for--abandoning the troops."

The only thing he can do is apologize?

He's beyond pathetic. What can we do to get him out of the way in 08?
 Martha

Kerry is too smart (I can't believe I'm saying this) to get his ass kicked by a girl in 2008.
He's going to sit this one out.

Baghdad is under siege

 news.independent.co.uk

 Excerpt:
Sunni insurgents have cut the roads linking the city to the rest of Iraq. The country is being
partitioned as gangs fight bloody battles for control of towns to the north and south of Baghdad.

As Bush and his Poodle argue over responsibility for the crisis in Iraq, the country has
taken another lurch towards disintegration. Well-armed Sunni tribes now largely surround
Baghdad and are fighting Shia militias to complete the encirclement.

The Sunni insurgents seem to be following a plan to control all the approaches to Baghdad.
They have long held the Jordanian highway west and east into Diyala province.
Now they seem to be systematically taking over routes leading north and south.

The Sunnis are backed by Syria, our partner in torture.
The Shiites are backed by Bush's old partners, Iran and Hezzbollah.

Bush's puppet Maliki in Baghdad is loyal to the Iranians, who are about to
get a nuke for the expressed purpose of "wiping Israel off the face of the Earth."

Why are we helping Iran fight our torture partners?

Subject: screw Mike Malloy - the fake Bush hater

Bart, you wrote:

>> When I become president, I'm looking at Malloy for Secretary of State.
>> I haven't asked him yet, but he's a patriot

I don't want to interfere with your mutual (?) admiration club, but If you think Mike Malloy
(who's a filthy gatekeeper) is a patriot, you just might be a filthy gatekeeper yourself, Bart.

Mike is a filthy gatekeeper?
Sounds like an insult - what's a gate keeper?
Wait, isn't Zuul the gatekeeper?

How can I be a gatekeeper if I don't know what that is?
Can you call me some names I'm familiar with?

http://911u.org/CoDR/audio/MalloyShow-(03-003-08-2006)_WebsterTarpley@82m=GatekeepersInAction.mp3

That link doesn't work - what's it supposed to be?
Goggle says there's no "gatekeepersinaction.mp3" on the internets.

http://911u.org/CoDR/gatekeeping101.html

OK, that link worked.
It says gatekeepers are liars.
Why are you calling me a liar without listing my lies?
Are you looking for a size 11 up the ass?

Opinion-leader Malloy tells his audience that Bush's statements are "impossible" when, clearly, they are not:
http://911blimp.net/graphics/DISAdenial.gif

Most of Bush's statements are horseshit.
Why didn't you send me an MP3 of Mike lying?

So Malloy is lying when he says, in effect, "Nothing to see here, Citizen, move along.  Just Bush lying again..."!

Wait, if Mike is lying, why not quote him?
Why do you say he's lying "in effect?"

Screw Malloy, the fake Bush-hater.
Malloy could be Bush's whore, except that job's already been taken by Barrie Zwicker,
who lied 5 times in 2 minutes to save Bush's neck:
http://911u.org/CoDR/audio/BarrieZwickerLIEStoSaveBush-BushNEVERsaidOrdinaryTV.mp3

I've never heard of Barrie Zwicker - is he a gatekeeper, too?
How many of us gatekeepers ate in the gatekeepers club?

Pull your head out already, Bart, or you risk blowing your cover.

 CoDR.student127@911u.org

Wait, my cover for what?
My gatekeeper cover?
I wish you were smart enough to make sense.
It's like you speak a different language.

Is everyone at  http://911u.org/CoDR/ an incoherent handjob?
If you want a piece of me, I'll screw you so hard, yo mama walk bow-legged.

You make so little sense, I can't tell if you're pro-Bush or anti-Bush.

Wikipedia says Zwicker is "Canada's Michael Moore."
(Wikipedia is written by everyone on the internet - so they can't be accurate.)
Yet you say Zwicker lies FOR Bush, and that Malloy and Ol' Bart are liars, too?

If Malloy and Bart are Bush lovers, can you show me what dissent looks like?

Years ago, I wrote that if Bev Harris was telling the truth and if her wild-ass predictions came true,

Why do the families stay silent?

Brave New World of Torture

 Link

 Excerpt:
The Military Commissions Act is an unprecedented power grab by the executive branch.
Among the Act's worst features, it authorizes the president to detain, without charges,
anyone whom he deems an unlawful enemy combatant. This includes U.S. citizens.
It eliminates habeas corpus review for aliens. It also makes providing "material support"
to terrorists punishable by military commission. And the military commissions' procedures
allow for coerced testimony, the use of "sanitized classified information" - where the source
is not disclosed - and trial for offenses not historically subject to trial by military commissions.
(Terrorism is not historically a military offense; it's a crime.)

Finally, by amending the War Crimes Act, it allows the president to authorize interrogation
techniques that may nonetheless violate the Geneva Conventions and provides future and
retroactive "defenses" for those who engage in or authorize those acts.
