Why Joe Biden?

Obama is on the defensive, already being forced to explain why he chose Joe Biden to be his running mate.
Critics of the decision point out the following:
1) Biden voted in favor of the Iraq War, which contradicts Obama’s central message of judgment;
2) Biden has been a Senator for almost 40 years, which contradicts Obama’s message of change,
3) Biden is from a small New England state, this makes Obama’s 50-state strategy look like a PR campaign only,
4) Biden’s age makes it unlikely that he will be able to run for office after Obama's two terms.

You could write good and bad things about anybody Obama picked, so I'm OK with this.

Truth is, once you take Hillary's name off the list, there aren't that many good prospects.
Obama is still kind of unknown, so picking a longtime Washington insider could help.

Picking a different woman would've guaranteed Denver in flames and Biden is a better
choice than Richards, Kucinich, Dodd or Koresh-forbid John Edwards and his love child.

However, when's the last time we won with two Northerners?

"Obama has decided he rather not have Clinton than lock up this election.
It was inexcusable of him. Too much is at stake in this election for such pettiness."
       -- Big Tent Democrat     Link

If Obama would fight back,  I wouldn't care if he picked Daffy Duck.

But I'm worried that, like Kerry,  Obama will order all Democrats
at the convention to refrain from attacking McCain.

Then next week at  the Bush bastards will spend every minute calling
Obama "a inexperienced Muslim with ties to Al Qaeda" and people will get scared and vote GOP.

Why do we always have to go first?
We never get to answer their lies if they always get to go last.

Why doesn't Obama Fight Back?
 by Paul Krugman

Over the past month or so many Democrats have had the sick feeling that once again their
candidate brought a knife to a gunfight.  Obama’s campaign, inexplicably, was unprepared for
the inevitable Republican attack on the candidate’s character. By the middle of last week,
Obama’s once formidable lead had virtually evaporated.

Mr. Obama’s waning advantage brought back bad memories of the 2004 campaign...

When will Obama come to work?
When will he join the battle that McCain's been fighting for three months?

I'm nervous and worried that he's going to stand there and take it, like Gore and Kerry.
The biggest political story of the summer is Obama's refusal to fight.

You can get crazy mad at me for telling the truth, but can you name one
Democratic pundit who says Obama is doing an adequate job of fighting back?

Why won't Obama attack?
 by I-hate-Hillary John Aravois

People are now telling us that they fear we're going to lose the election.
This is something we're hearing a lot of from a lot of people.
There is an incredible discontent out there with the way this campaign is being run.
The fact that the discontent isn't being recognized, isn't being assuaged, is disturbing.
People aren't worried about the election, they're becoming despondent about it.
They're not motivated to work twice as hard, they instead feel as if they've had the
wind knocked out of them. This is far beyond a healthy skepticism as to whether
Obama can win. While Obama's attacks (recently) on McCain are heartening,
we need to see more of it. People need to see that Barack Obama has as big
of balls as John McCain and, well, Hillary Clinton.

What does it mean when the Hillary haters want Obama to be more like her?

Random thought...

Think how different American history would be if the Bush bastards had gone into a
different line of work than oil, weapon sales and multi-national crimes against humanity.

There'd be no al Qaeda, the Twin Towers would still be standing, 4100 soldiers would still be
looking forward to that last Labor Day picnic of the summer, the world wouldn't hate America
and Al Gore might've ridden Clinton's economic boom to see the Dow break 30.000 in his second term.

Instead - we have the nightmare that we have.

It's like we're in some angry Terminator movie, but we can't go back in time to stop Bush.
We're stuck with the history we're stuck with.

...and it's because the Democrats wanted to place nice instead of defending their ground.

THEIR guy is guilty of ordering rapes, torture, mass murder, stealing billions from Iraq each week,
and getting 4100 soldiers killed for nothing and OUR guy was impeached for having a girlfriend?.

"Bart, you're making us look like inept cowards..."

Hey, *I* am not making you look like anything.
 The facts are the facts.

 Subject: Walking the Walk

My take is that Dems should fight as hard as the GOP:
Go 100% positive for our guy and 100% negative on theirs.
You don't seem to agree entirely, but my belief dictates that I should support you 100% anyway.

So, to "Walk the Walk", here's my way of going 100% positive to our guy (you) no matter what:
a donation instead of an argument. If time permits, let me know what you think of this approach.

You da man,
-Rex Devious

Rex, if I read you correctly, that was the most politely worded complaint ever!  :)

I am trying to be honest.
I remember the final days of the 2004 campaign, when Randi Rhodes gave her listeners her
Nancy Grace Guarantee that Kerry was going to win and I can't lie to you that way.

Truth is, our guy's getting hammered by the puppet who personifies Bush's Third Term.

CNN said Obama out-spent McCain $55M to $33M in July and he lost ground,
If effect, Obama is losing to the Worst President Ever - what does that tell us?

Maybe he can stop the bleeding now that his Hawaiian vacation is over,
but I'm angry with Obama for (apparently) taking this race so lightly.

Do you think Obama thinks he's still ahead and the polls are wrong?

Obama seems to not understand how racist our country is - the Bradley Effect.
We have no idea how big the Bradley Effect is - is it 8 points?  12 points?  20 points?

There's a reason why there's not one elected Black Republican in Washington.
America is a racist country - and we're called racists for speaking that truth.

I want Obama to win for 100 reasons but there's also a personal one - I'll get blamed for his loss.
If Obama loses, nobody's going to say, "You were right, Bart. We needed a fighter!"

If he loses, people will say it's because "People like Bartcop failed to adequately cheer for him,"
but my problem is I just can't fake orgasms as well as some professional talk show hosts.

Granted, I would be in a very different place hits-wise and financially if I was an early
infectee of the Obama Magic, but I can't say it or write it if I don't believe it.

Obama is getting hammered by the senile old man who's into war, torture and GW Bush.
That still could be turned around - but when is Obama going to start fighting back?

I'm watching him live on CNN right now (noon Central) and he's saying NOTHING!
When we he start to fight for us like he promised?

Is it too early to panic?  Yes, but the Panic Date is getting closer every day.
If Obama has a secret weapon, when's he going to use it? So far, McCain's killing him
and Obama is playing like he's 30 points ahead in the fourth quarter of a football game.

Obama doesn't get any closer to the White House if people like me say,
"Obama is the greatest of all times and he can't possibly lose."

But if enough people like me ask, "When is Obama going to start fighting back?"
that might make a difference - if he gets the message that the time to fight is NOW.

Halliburton 'Repairing" Iraq's Oil Meters

Saudi Arabia’s Oil Production History

Bart's Law #2
Any time a person or entity makes a "mistake" that puts extra money (or power) in their pocket,
expect them to make that "mistake" again and again and again.  That's why refineries have fires now and then,
because a fire allows them to scream "unexpected shortage" so they can gouge us on the price of gas.

Put another way,

...each time Bush identifies a "menace" in an oil-rich country, and makes billions of dollars by
invading and my stealing their oil, thereby doubling the price of gas, expect more invasions.

Do the soldiers care that the Blackwaters and Halliburtons
are getting 10-20 times more money than they are getting?

Instead of signing up for another tour, why not go home
and apply for a job at Blackwater and Halliburton?

Where's the honor of being maimed for 10% of the money?

Subject: Why don't the Democrats fight back?

Bart, I keep hearing people say they wish the Democrats would come up with their own
3-word slogan the voters can identify with. Why not, "Peace, prosperity and a surplus?"
along with 22 million new jobs, $1.40 gas and a 7300 point gain in the stock market,
which is what we had 8 years ago thanks to the Big Dog.

Why don't the Democrats use that?

They say they don't want to "look backwards."

Instead of running on an impressive record like that,
these pussies keep telling the Clintons to go fuck themselves.

As I write this to you, once again we're practically begging our candidate to fight back.
Bill Clinton gave them the blueprints to win the White House and these f-ing idiots refuse
to use those blueprints - but then again - politeness is #1 instead of winning elections.

I have dozens of anti-Obama toons that I'm not printing
but sometimes a toon hits the nail right on the head.

Why won't Obama fight back?

What Obama must do to win
  by Gene Lyons

There’s a risk to a Democratic nominee who responds like a Ph. D. candidate to a question
about the existence of evil. To wit, do we “ignore, contain, negotiate with or defeat it ?”
Obama treated it as a theological issue, even pointing out that some of history’s worst
catastrophes have come in the name of fighting evil.

It’s an answer that Illinois’ own Adlai Stevenson might have given. And that’s the problem.
McCain’s approach to evil ? “Defeat it.” He’d follow Osama bin Laden “to the gates of Hell,”
he vowed. Did he sound like Bruce Willis in a two-dimensional action flick ? Exactly.

McCain is peddling economic snake oil and a delusional world view more appropriate to a
film script than the visible world. To win in November, Obama’s going to have to take him
head-on.  Democrats are kidding themselves if they think it’ll be easy.

Disappointment in Obama
 Why won't he fight back?

Some bloggers, many of them stalwart Obama supporters who gleefully trashed Clinton while
puffing up Obama as the next RFK are now publicly expressing disappointment over Obama's
wimpy and almost toothless campaign.

Obama spends way too much time trying to appease the wingnut base in a gutless effort,
rather than confront McCain, his record, his party's failures, and his smears...

Kerry lost his race after the convention, whereas Obama lost this race in June and July,
because he had a Sally Field-esque "You like me" moment over and over again.
He assumed he didn't need to define his opponent because it was beneath him, and gutted
the ability of the Democrats to hold McCain accountable. And them he took a victory lap tour
overseas to get photo ops while McCain began to define him here at home, by trying out attack
lines until some of them got traction. And then in typical GOP fashion, McCain found the ones
that worked, hammered them over and over again, and turned Obama into a boring and iffy
choice against a guy who should be ten points behind by now. Sorry, but that's how I feel.

There's still time to win this - but Obama has to start fighting back NOW.
Or is he waiting for October to start fighting back?

Didn't we learn anything from 2000 and 2004?

number 2: i can't believe he didn't pick her  :(

I don't have time to investigate, but the cable TV whores claim, and my gut tells me it's true
that Hillary could've delivered PA and OH - but Obama just didn't want to win that way.

Nobody will ever be able to say for sure, but if he loses because he failed to win OH and PA,
I think history will say he made the wrong decision to keep her off the ticket.

If he could just pull out a win, it would heal everything and solve a shitload of problems.

Anti-McCain Video from
our good friend Symbolman

Random thought...

Can we use our f-ing heads?

If you're white and Republiucan and marry a woman who inherited $100 million dollars,
it's EASY to turn whore and say, "God provides if you believe in Him."

And if you believe and you're poor and sick and Black, well, then, understand that
God has a lifetime of Hell for you and it's not your place to ask any questions, OK?

Christ, how stupid can people be?

Religion is the easiest way to steal from the scared, the sick and the old.

Olympics hero Michael Phelps says, "You can do anything you set your mind to,"
but that's not true at all, is it?

Sure, Tiger Woo  , the Great and Powerful Kos and Gov Musclehead can all say the same thing.
But I'll never swim like Phelps, golf like Tiger, get Kos's hits or be the governor of California,
so what good does that "You just need to try" handjob do for anybody?

The truth is, you can't win if you don't compete, but to say,
"If you want it bad enough you can have it," is just lying to the stupid.

The liberal media is making fun of John McCain as if he were some kind of elitist
because he can't remember how many homes he owns.

Well I say, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!"
After all, how many of us really know how many homes we own?
Can you just answer that off the top of your head?

homes he owns because he doesn't want Osama bin Laden to find out.

Yeah, that's got to be it.

We have tons of great 'toons on the Bart Blog!

Iraq pumped 3.5M  barrels daily before Bush invaded
and then they got their 2003 Halliburton upgrade,
their 2004 Halliburton upgrade,
their 2005 Halliburton upgrade,
their 2006 Halliburton upgrade,
their 2007 Halliburton upgrade,
their 2008 Halliburton upgrade

Bush is stealing up to 6 million barrels of oil per day.
Since oil sells for $140 or more per barrel,
Bush is stealing $840,000,000 every day.

No wonder they were so eager to start a war,
It's the biggest theft in Earth's history.

but now...
4,134 brave men and women are gone.

4,134 families have been destroyed
by the greed of the Bush bastards.

Let's try something new in November.

Why are we there?
Because Iraq's oil wells have NO METERS!

That's almost 1B dollars that
goes missing every day!

Where's that money going?
