they must not ever do -- directly contradict claims from government and military officials and suggest

that are disapproved of by the Government."

Rep Reyes to Probe Cheney's Crimes
I'll believe it after they slap handcuffs on the bastards

 Link

 Excerpt:
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Silvestre Reyes will launch an investigation
into the CIA's communications with Congress.

The House Intelligence Committee formally announced Friday that it will probe whether
the CIA broke the law by failing to inform Congress about Cheney's secret assassination
program reportedly aimed at targeting leaders of al-Qaeda.

Reyes said the probe would be part of a wide-ranging investigation about the way in which
the CIA informs Congress about its covert activities and other matters.

As always, Cheney's hit squad never hit a single terrorist.
I wonder how many billions Cheney stole in this scheme?

Walter Cronkite, dead at 92
A newsman we could trust is gone

 Link

 Excerpt:
Walter Cronkite anchored the CBS Evening News from 1962 to 1981, leading their coverage of the
civil rights movement, JFK's assassination, the Vietnam War and Watergate. He had been ill for some time
and was being cared for a hospital in New York since last month. CBS said his family was with him when he died.

“It is impossible to imagine CBS News, journalism or indeed America without Walter Cronkite,” said Sean McManus,
the president of CBS News. “More than just the best and most trusted anchor in history, he guided America through
our crises, tragedies and also our victories and greatest moments.”

And he didn't lie for the Republicans to further his career like some people...

Quotes

"Long ago in the days before journalists became celebrities, their enterprise was reviled and poorly paid,
and it was understood by working newspapermen that the presence of more than two people at their funeral
could be taken as a sign that they had disgraced the profession."

“There was a time in America when the press and the government were on opposite sides of the field.
The press was supposed to speak on behalf of the people. The new tradition is that the press speaks
on behalf of the government.  An example? Tim Russert was a spokesman for power, wealth, and privilege.
That’s why 1,000 people came to his memorial service. Because essentially he was a shill for the government."

Subject: I'm not a former soldier

Bart

I’ve been deployed five times, all under the presidency of someone named Bush.
It pisses me off to no end to have someone say they won’t go do their duty because
they don’t think the president was born in this country.

We take an oath to support and defend the constitution and to follow orders of the president.
There’s no caveat that says we have to have proof that the President was born in this country.
We follow the orders.  Period.  If you want proof, look at the election results.  There’s your proof.

I think someone should publish this guys address so we can all mail him a white feather.
 T, MSgt, USAFR

I'd like to see him assigned to an all-Black unit.
Then when he pops off about how illegitimate Obama is
his bunkmates can "explain it to him" in the dark of  night.

Celebrating Cronkite while ignoring what he did
 by Glenn Greenwald

 Link

 Excerpt:
"The Vietcong did not win by a knockout [in the Tet Offensive], but neither did we. The referees of history
may make it a draw. . . . We have been too often disappointed by the optimism of the American leaders,
both in Vietnam and Washington, to have faith any longer in the silver linings they find in the darkest clouds. . . .

For it seems now more certain than ever that the bloody experience of Vietnam is to end in a stalemate. . . .
To say that we are closer to victory today is to believe, in the face of the evidence, the optimists who have
been wrong in the past"
-- Walter Cronkite, CBS Evening News, February 27, 1968.

"I think there are a lot of critics who think that [in the run-up to the Iraq War] . . . . if we did not stand up
and say "This is bogus, and you're a liar, and why are you doing this,"
that we didn't do our job. I respectfully disagree. It's not our role."
-- David Gregory, whore who took Russert's place and Karl Rove's dancing partner, May 28, 2008.

Of course it's not your role to dispute the lies coming from the Republicans.
It's your job to read the script that Karl Rove writes for you.

Subject: comment on that truck video

Bart,

If a concrete barrier stopped that speeding truck cold,
why would you expect an airplane to fully penetrate
a concrete and steel building and THEN explode?

Why do you accept that a flimsy aluminum airplane
pierced through steel and concrete, remaining intact
until it was fully inside the building, THEN exploded?
It would have exploded right away, on the outside
of the building. Some of the plane would have penetrated
the building, but much of it would have bounced off
the building and fell to the ground.

Do you think if the truck were going faster that it might
have pierced the concrete barrier, remained intact until
the truck fully passed through the concrete barrier and
THEN explode?

It's right in front of your eyes, Bart.  That thing about
planes being hijacked and flown into the WTC?
Never happened.

Love,
Babs

I don't have a strong opinion about the temperature at which jet fuel burns
vs the melting point of steel because that's not my business..

Now that Bush is gone and it's legal to have an opinion again,
why don't the experts stand up and speak their minds?

Subject: Matt Taibbi

I've enjoyed his writing, as well as been scared to death by it, and love your site,
so I'm curious as to what you are referring to when you so emphatically state Taibbi's a liar?

Honest question as I admire you and your work immensely
and I will consider any evidence when evaluating Taibbi's words.
Thanks
 Rash

Taibbi was one of those 2008 mind-readers who knew what Hillary was thinking at all times
and was eager to share her thoughts with us - along with the most outrageous, salacious and damning
slant he could possible conjure up in his evil little mind.

Apparently, Hillary's every waking thought was how she could scam her way into more power
ao she could dismember and filet all the little children in America - according to Matt Taibbi.

He might've killed himself had Hillary won.

Why $200 aspirin is a good deal
by John Boehner, on the payroll of the Insurance Lobby

 Link

 Excerpt:
Not only will the Democrats’ government-run health care plan raise your costs, but it also will raise costs for our
nation’s employers – particularly small businesses.  At the heart of their proposal is a small business tax that, for tens of
millions, means diminished job security.  The NFIB warns that the small business tax and mandates in the Democrats’ plan
will destroy 1.6 million jobs – one million of them in small businesses alone.  And according to Dr. Christina Romer, of the
WHCEA, the government takeover would cost Americans 4.7 million jobs over the next 10 years.  With our economy at
its weakest since the Great Depression and unemployment soaring, why promote policies that make jobs even more scarce?

Is Obama going to pull this off?

Is he doing a good job of explaining his plan?
If he is, I haven't seen it.

He needs to explain his plan to the stupid people in short sentences.
He needs to simplify things by saying, "Health care costs your family more every year
and that's because the lobbyists are bribing the crooked Republicans to screw you."

But he's NOT saying that because he wants to be friends with the Fascist dogs.

When will Barack learn that that's not going to happen?
How many times will zero Rethugs vote with him before he sees that?

Like I'm always saying - if the Democrats would list the facts,
the poor people could vote themselves free health care for life.

Poor people have the power - they just don't know they have the power
because the idiot Democrats can't figure out a way to explain it to them.

Sanford Crazy with Taxpayer's Money

 Link

 Excerpt:
The records detail more than $468,000 worth of state-funded travel for Sanford and show that he routinely
billed taxpayers for high-end airline seats, racking up more than $44,000 on business-and first-class tickets.
He often stayed in pricey hotels that far exceeded the rates he imposed on other state employees.

On one overseas trip, the state appears to have spent more than $12,000 for the GOP governor’s
business-class tickets for a 2007 trade mission to China, while his aides flew in steerage for $1,900.

How long are they going to stick with this loser?

Idiot America: How Stupidity Became a Virtue

I haven't read this book, but from the reviews,
it'll read like I wrote it.

"We've moved into an era in which stupidity is celebrated if it made people money.
That is 'glorifying ignorance.' The reflexive instincts of the Gut are celebrated
at the expense of reasoned, informed opinion."

Subject: 40 years since we first walked on the moon

40 years ago man first walked on the moon. But in 1972 man quit walking on the moon
because Nixon canceled the moon program and we haven't been past low Earth orbit since.

If we want a nation that values science and we want to explore space and go where no one
has gone before then we need to elect leaders from political parties that don't hate science.
Someday we may go back to the moon and on to other planets. But in order to do that
we're going to have to stop electing Republicans. Republicans set the human race back
too far to allow us to explore space.

The wife of former Republican Rep. Chip Pickering filed a lawsuit late Tuesday against his mistress,

According to the Jackson Free Press, Leisha Pickering's lawsuit alleges her husband restarted a relationship with
Elizabeth Byrd while he was "a US congressman prior to and while living in the well-known C Street Complex in D.C."

The Capitol Hill whorehouse owned by an organization affiliated with "The Fellowship"  also housed John Ensign.
Gov. Mark Sanford was a frequent visitor to the home for prayer meetings and meals during his time in Congress

So they join these phoney religious cults to get laid?

Kathy Griffin in Tulsa

I wondered if she would mention Michael Jackson.
She moonwalked out to greet the crowd.

She could've been more brutal in her remarks - maybe she felt enough was enough.
After all, how many Diprivan jokes can you make?

She was funny - we enjoy her scathing but she spent a lot of time on the Real Housewives of New Jersey
which the gays in the crowd really enjoyed, but we don't watch those shows.    She'd say, "Wasn't it awful
what Jessica did to Lou Ann?" but it's not very effective if you don't know who those people are.

She did all her Paris Hiltons amd Britneys and Seacrests - can't go wrong there.

More evidence that I'm the smartest man in Okie Homie.

This is the line to sell liquor and beer to 4500 people.
It was about a 30 minute wait and I didn't want to stand in line.

If they had any brains at all, they'd have a Express Lane with Jack and Coke and Vodka and Seven-Up.
Five bucks a pop you could service three customers per minute per employee.

That means the venue let hundreds or thousands of dollars in profit get away.
Doesn't anyone in America WANT to make some money?

These people didn't want a thousand choices - they just wanted a buzz for Kathy.

Also, they had sky box tickets for $1250.
Really?  $1250 to see Kathy Griifin?
For that money you should get oral sex, too.

Paul McCartney's coming to Tulsa for his only (so far) indoor show.
