industry, congressional Republicans – and some conservative Democrats
– went to work killing the public option. Behind
the scenes, the industry even helped organize angry protests at "town hall"
meetings to pressure members of Congress to back
away from the government-run alternative.
If the Democrats bend to the demands of the industry
and the Republicans, Obama and congressional Democrats could
find themselves in several years explaining how
they enacted "reforms" that bully moderate-income Americans into buying
over-priced health insurance, fatten the industry’s
profits and fail to achieve any meaningful cost controls.
Such an outcome could be catastrophic to the Democratic
Party’s future and to the concept of progressive governance.
Yet, some members of the Senate Democratic leadership
appear to heading in that direction, wanting to portray pushing
through some bill – even one without a public
option – as a victory.

favorability ratings slide in recent months.
Edwards has suffered by far the biggest slide.
When Americans were polled about him in January 2008,
48 percent had a favorable view. This month,
Edwards’ favorability rating was only 21 percent, Gallup found.
The plunge followed Edwards’ admission that he
had an extramarital affair during his 2008 presidential campaign.
Palin’s favorability rating has also slid. She
had a 53 percent favorability rating after NaziCon 2008.
By the campaign’s end, her favorability had dropped
to 42 percent. Her current 40 percent rating
“is the lowest for her since she became widely
known after last year’s Republican convention.”
There's one big difference:

A sheriff said he was pursuing criminal charges
in Colorado's "balloon boy" saga, which first sparked fear
for the child, then relief that he was OK and
now suspicions of a hoax.
Deputies searched their home Saturday night, carrying away several boxes and a computer.
The parents, Richard and Mayumi Heene, met with
Larimer County investigators Saturday afternoon amid
questions about whether he perpetrated a publicity
stunt when his 6-year-old son vanished into the rafters
of his garage while the world thought he was
zooming through the sky in a flying saucer-like helium balloon.
This didn't happen suddenly - it took hours
and hours - so why didn't the parents talk?
They remained silent so the world could come
to the desired conclusion.
Unless the Dad is a total tool, he had
to know a balloon that small couldn't fly with a kid inside.
You and I had no concept of the balloon's size
or lifting power, but the dad certainly did.
With all that time, why didn't Dad look at the
balloon on TV and say, "There's no gondola,
so there's no way possible for my kid to be
inside that thing," but he failed to do
that.
I don't care how "distraught" the family was,
they HAD to see the image on TV and realize
that without the gondola, there's no place for
the kid to be a passenger.
I think Dad should do some hard time for this
hoax and his wages should be garnished forever
to pay the state of Colorado for their expenses
in this phoney rescue.

The military met or exceeded both their numeric
and quality recruiting goals during fiscal 2009 for the first time
in the 36-year history of the all-volunteer force,
the Pentagon’s top military personnel policy official said Tuesday.
In addition, retention was deemed “successful”
in all the services, the Pentagon said in a press release.
A weak economy and increased spending on recruiting
were the primary reasons for the recruiting successes.
“The investment per accession we were able to
deliver this year — because we hadn’t built in the unemployment [rate],
as it turned out ... left us with more dollars
per recruit than proved to be minimally necessary, given the level of unemployment,”
said Bill Carr.
The seasonally adjusted U.S. unemployment rate
for September stood at 9.8 percent;
another 214,000 Americans lost their jobs that
month,
Under Clinton, we had the opposite problem.
The poor schlubs that were making $18K
in the military found out they could make $100K
as civilians.
So they left and the GOP said "Clinton is hurting
our military."

They should legaize "getting together" and let them pay sales tax,

A $200 transaction would bring in maybe $16.50

If a girl robs her client or whatever, she loses her license.

The question is, like with drugs, do we want it run
