Christie is the new Thurston
He'll lose 2016 in exactly the same way

Republicans spent most of 2011 pretending that Mitt Romney wouldn’t be their nominee.
And when the 2012 primaries began, they did everything they could to damage their nominee
before he could get to the general election.

The race for the 2016 GOP nomination is starting to hint at a remarkably similar shape.
Chris Christie is leading the pack to represent the Fascist dogs in the next presidential election.

Like Romney and unlike his competitors, Christie has never been “a Tea Party favorite.”
And with a little less than half of Republican primary voters not identifying with that movement,
the governor is fighting for one half of the base as his several opponents wrestle for the other.

Christie has exactly the same major problem Thurston had.

To win the nomination, he has to say, "Screw those women, screw the niggers, screw the poor,
screw the beaners and the slants and yes, Jesus rode dinosaurs and Earth is only 400 years old."

Then, after he wins the nomination, he has to say
, "I love women and I love Black people.
Gosh, some of my best employees are poor and I like the Mexicans who trim my maze hedge.
And those Orientals are smart - have you seen them do long division in their damn heads?
And everyone knows Jesus didn't ride dinosaurs and science is really real."

America will say, "That woman-hating racist bastard can't be trusted," and then
when Christie loses, Rush and Fox News will say, "He was a RINO."

The best part?
The same damn thing is going to happen in 2020, too.

If you're the gambling type, I got money.

 Subject: Chris Christie Breaks Out

Sorry Bart, gotta disagree with you on this one.

You said "Christie can't win. The vulgar Pigboy and FOX News will beat him to death."

If Christie gets the nomination, which seems to me quite likely, Pigboy and Fox News
will suddenly find him to be the most appealing candidate.

One thing about Rethugs, they can turn their opinions on a dime to fit the situation,
because they have no core principles other than winning.
Steve SJ

We might be talking about different things, but I remember Rush attacking McCain
and Romney and anyone else that wasn't totally attached to the right-wing wall.

You're not under the impression that Rush wants a Republican to win, are you?
If not for Clinton and Obama, Rush would still be the fat DJ no girl would date.

Rush is in bed with Ted Cruz - at least they have the same goals.
They both make millions more than anyone else by saying wilder and wilder things.
Rush and Cruz only have power if there's "a Devil" who's "stolen America" - then we "need" them.

They'll make Christie into Satan to stay relevant.

Of course, we'll see soon enough.

Website Kinda Working Now, Goddammit
The Rude Pundit tells it like no other

Let us say the good and necessary progressive thing to say whenever an actual progressive talks about
the Affordable Care Act: it should have had a public option for insurance. Or it should have been single payer.
Indeed, at this point, considering the titanic waves of bullshit that Democrats have had to surf and splash
around in, Obamacare could have been completely socialized medicine with free hookers thrown in as
a bonus or it could have been a bottle of aspirin. It wouldn't have mattered to the GOP. They'd've still
hocked up the exact same loogies and spit them at the plan.

The lesson for Democrats oughta be that if you're gonna have to fight a war over something, at least
make it a Democratic something that you're defending and not some Republican Frankenstein's monster
you lightning bolted to life.

In the same way that it wouldn't have mattered what ACA was for conservatives, it truly doesn't matter
if can now wash your car, walk your dog, and fuck you real good. The hits from the
nitwits on the right will keep coming.

 Subject: Racism/Tejas/JFK

Yes, I remember racism and tejas and the death of JFK. I was in the USAF stationed at Lackland AFB.

JFK arrived in San Antonio on the day before he was assassinated and I was ordered to the skeleton crew
manning our clinic and couldn´t go see his speech. The next day, driving in downtown San Antone, all the
traffic stopped and people climbed out of their cars, in shock, radios blaring: My president had been killed.

This, the same city where my fellow Afro American soldiers and I could not enter the same door in a movie
theater; where we had been thrown out of a bar because they wouldn't serve my friends because of their
skin color; where even the amusement park and water fountains were labelled "colored" and "white."

On black and white TV in the barracks we watched cops with high-powered water hoses and dogs preventing
American citizens from exercising their rights. Who the hell would want to live in a country like that?

That is why I live in Central America, where people look like me
and everyone is accepted regardless of the color of one's skin.

The good news is things are getting better.
Kids today - they don't care what color you are.

Lara Logan Had an Agenda
Double shame on once-trusted 60 Minutes

60 Minutes correspondent Lara Logan and her producer were ordered to take a leave of absence
following a review of how badly they handled their crooked Benghazi report, says the Whore AP.

An internal review stated that the 60 Minutes duo did a poor job vetting their story, which included
information from a big fat liar who claimed he was at the U.S. mission when it was attacked. However,
questions quickly arose about whether the liar was actually there at the time and Logan later issued an
apology less than two weeks after the report first aired on Oct. 27.

The review also concluded that Logan should not have been involved with the story after a speech
she gave last year in which she argued that the US's claim that its military had tamed al-Qaida was a lie.
It's unclear how long Logan and her producer, Max McClellan, will be suspended.

So, Logan has a personal opinion that al Qaeda was still a powerful US enemy, so when that big fat liar
said he battled al Qaeda at the embassy, she failed to vet his lies because it made her look better.

She was trying to prove how right she was and threw her credibility away in the process.

Surely, only Teabaggers have a lower approval rating than American "journalists."

Subject: JFK Assasination (response to Perkel post)

I had a tough time believing Oswald was the lone shooter, but I watched a lot of PBS this week.
This Nova episode- did a good job using
modern forensic evidence supporting that all three shots came from the book depository (they even
proved the magic bullet), and that none came from the grassy knoll.

As for if Oswald acted alone, Frontline did a good episode on him: Seems to be a lot of unanswered questions
(especially the CIA clouding everything) that could mean others may have helped or encouraged Oswald.

Lesson, as always, watch PBS; read Bartcop.
  Alan in Boston

Alan, thanks for that.

Back in the seventies, I saw a reliable report on TV about Oswald's rifle.
By "reliable" I mean it was network news or 60 Minutes - back before they all turned whore.

This report said they took Oswald's rifle to the FBI and asked their top snipers at Quantico
to fire Oswald's gun as fast as they could - no aiming, just firing as fast as they could - and the
top three FBI snipers COULD NOT get off three shots in the time depicted on Zapriders film.

That (back then) was absolute proof that Oswald could not have fired three times in that
small window which was scientifically timed by Zapruder's camera.

Now, thirty years leter, they act like that never happened.
Now the story is "Any moron with half a brain could've gotten those shots off."

I don't like being lied to.

In the same vein, during JFK-50 Years Later week, nobody played "The Ruby Tape."

Why didn't they play this tape and explain it?

What are they hiding, besides the murder of a president?

Pigboy: Pope is "pure Marxism"
Marxism is when the rich have to pay taxes, too

Pope Francis:  Successor to St. Peter ... the people's pontiff ... Marxist?
That's what the vulgar Pigboy suggests, calling the Pope's latest document "pure Marxism."

Limbaugh blasted the pontiff on Wednesday, a day after Francis released a 50,000-word
statement that calls for church reform and castigates elements of modern capitalism.

Limbaugh's segment (watch the video) takes direct aim at the pope's economic views,
calling them "dramatically, embarrassingly, puzzlingly wrong."

Francis – the first pope to make sense in our lifetime, warned that the "idolatry of money"
would lead to a "new tyranny."  The Pope also blasted "trickle-down economics," ha ha
saying the theory "expresses a crude and naïve trust in the goodness of those wielding economic power."

The Pope's critique of capitalism thrilled many liberal Catholics, who have long called on church leaders
to spend more time and energy on protecting the poor from economic inequalities.

But the vulgar Pigboy called the Pope's comments "sad" and "unbelievable."

Outside of women, Catholics are the biggest voting bloc in America so go ahead, Rush.
You have my permission to make them super-angry as you insult their new and popular Pope.

 Subject: being lost

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost.  She lowered her altitude and spotted  a man in a boat below.
She shouted to him, "Excuse   me, can you help me?  I promised a  friend I would meet him an hour ago,
but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're  30 feet above sea level.  You are at  31 degrees,
14.97 minutes north latitude and     100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude."

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Democrat."

"I am," replied the man.  "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea  what to do
with your information, and I'm still lost.  Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the balloonist.  "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going.  You've risen to where  you are,
due to a large quantity of hot air.  You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep,  then you expect me
to solve your problem.  You're in the same position you were in before we met but, somehow, now it's my fault."

HC Costs Are Going Down
But if it's 'Stalinist' health care, that's bad, right?

The rollout of Obamacare may have deeply disappointed its supporters, but on at least one front,
the Affordable Care Act is beating expectations: its cost.

Over the next few years, the government is expected to spend billions of dollars less than originally
projected on the law, analysts said, with both the Medicaid expansion and the subsidies for private
insurance plans ending up less expensive than anticipated.

Economists broadly agree that the GOP's crashed economy is the main reason that health spending
has grown so slowly for the last half-decade. From 2007 to 2010, per-capita health care spending
rose just 1.8 percent annually. Since then, the annual increase has slowed even further, to 1.3 percent.
A decade ago, spending was growing at roughly 5 percent a year.

And what are the backstabbing Democrats doing?
Running from Obama like he was Typhoid Mary.

If I had Obama's ear, I would've told him to expect that.

Here they are together dancing to "Single Ladies"...obviously re-dubbed, but cute.

Maybe it would change some minds of all the fellows who said Maryann:

I was surprised Ginger had just 1 or 2 votes.

BTW, as you can see, I'm having trouble with fonts.
I had a lot of trouble opening Netscape today - it fought me like a Republican
trying to keep a poor widow with four kids from getting food stamps.

Each time these boneheaded techs find a new way to fuck things up, it clashes
with my 1996 technology and someday, maybe soon, my luck will run out.

If fails to update for a few days, all I can say is I'm working on the
new system so I'll put updates on Facebook and Twitter, which most of you don't get.

Why do some people refuse to try FB and Twitter?

What if your grandparents had said, "A phone?  That's just a dumb toy for kids.
I've always used the US Mail and that's always been good enough for me?"

It's awful.

Thank you,
