Oh my God (Sorry Bart) I am crying right now. I am also in shock. I thought still had a long time left. I met and parties with Bart many times over the last 10 years; the last time at my house in L.A. with Mrs. Bart, and Chicago Jim. just a few short months ago. Bart was my inspiration to do my own political website The Hollywood Liberal. I never told him this but I considered Bart not just a friend, but the big brother I never had. Memories are coming back of the Pokerfests in Vegas, & Chicago, and the "Party of The Century in 2006 at the Palms in Vegas.
I am going to miss my usual afternoon Bart read where I would usually be smoking (or vaping now) a fat bowl.
As Bart would say, enjoy your life because no one knows how much time you have.
Peace Bart

Thanks to all who attended the memorial service Sunday, as well to as all those who were there in spirit. I tried to post the link to the well-received tribute to Bart at Daily Kos, but am informed that URLs are not allowed in comments.
So I'll try this work-around.... Go to Daily Kos (www.dailykos.com) then search for diaries using the term 'Bartcop' and you should be able to find the story.
Please visit and I hope you'll enjoy it!

Bartcop has been the best the internet has to offer. I will miss him tremendously. Weird thing - I've hadn't been to the page in months due to the demands of a new job, and last week, he suddenly popped into my mind on the way to work, and I made a point to visit. What I saw was the last page he would write. I will drink and smoke in his honor! That dude was a rough, beautiful jewel.

I bought my first computer in 1998, and soon thereafter found bartcop by accident thru a link in the local newspaper. After reading him daily since, now what'll we all do? I'll miss his humor and wisdom. RIP, old friend.

All I can say is that I read Bartcop religiously, and now am at a loss for what else to say. If I could leave one comment, it would be that EVERY Democrat running for ANY office, at ANY level of government, should be required to go back and read how Bart's old pages and get a clue as to how to deal with the right wing criminals by swinging that hammer instead of being pink tu-tu wearing chickenshits.

I feel like I lost one of the funniest and smartest people I never had the privilege to meet. America, Democrats in particular, need to have the fight and gumption that Bart possessed. May something akin to his fire be kindled in all of us with his passing.

I didn't always agree with everything Bart said but it was hard to stop reading the site.
I don't have a subscription but I will give whatever I can as long as I can to help Mrs. Bart.
RIP. Your pages through the Bush years were comfort indeed.

Wow, I am so sad to hear this news. I did not realize Bart was either that old or that sick. I never got to see what bart looked like. I found bartcop.com in 2001. This website is where I went to hear a voice of sanity and laugh at the rants and all the funny pics. This site will be missed. Thank you bartcop RIP.
