"McCain can rescue what's left of his soul
by choosing a VP with modern American values.
For all the pandering to the psychotic religious
right McCain accomplished in the past few months,
he still remains unpopular with the gay-hating
cave dwellers. This is a good thing. McCain (should)
choose a VP who can read a sixth grade
science textbook without getting confused and angry."

Obama's
long country road
Link
Excerpt:
"The current high spirits in the Obama campaign
could be tempered in coming weeks when
West Virginia and Kentucky voters render their
verdict on the Democratic race. And it's not
just that Hillary is heavily favored to win both
states - but more than that they could further
underline Obama's lackluster support in Appalachia,
a region that is ground zero for the sort
of populist Reagan Democrats both parties will
covet in the fall... "McCain's going to camp on
the Pennsylvania-Ohio border" in Appalachian
regions, said Democratic strategist Dave Saunders.
'He knows if he wins those states he can't lose.'"

"Of the 29 primaries since New Hampshire from
which delegates have been allocated,
Obama has won 15. But in doing so,
he got a majority of the white votes in just five of

three of the eight primaries held since March 4,
Obama won a majority of the white vote
in only one - Vermont."

6 out of 37 states?

Have you ever seen a more true toon?
How racist
is middle America?
Link
Excerpt:
In Muncie, Indiana, Ross and her cohorts were
soliciting support for Obama at malls, on street corners
and in a Wal-Mart parking lot, and they ran into
"a horrible response," as Ross put it, a level of anti-black
sentiment that none of them had anticipated.
"The first person I encountered was like, 'I'll
never vote for a black person,' " recalled Ross, who is white
and just turned 20. "People just weren't receptive."
For all the hope and excitement Obama's candidacy
is generating, some of his field workers, phone-bank
volunteers and campaign surrogates are encountering
a raw racism and hostility that have gone largely
unnoticed -- and unreported -- this election
season. Doors have been slammed in their faces.
The contrast between the large, adoring crowds
Obama draws at public events and the gritty street-level
work to win votes is stark. The candidate is
largely insulated from the mean-spiritedness that some of his
foot soldiers deal with away from the media spotlight."
I recently wrote that one of our biggest problems
when arguing is we have to decide of the topic.
Should a black man be allowed to win the White
House? Sure. But if
the biggest
voting block in America, uneducated whites, won't
have it, we're left with two choices:
We can vote for "the way things OUGHT to be" and
possibly lose, or we can accept the fact
that America is a terribly racist country, and
run our white candidate and possibly win.
I'm not happy that I live in a terribly racist country, I suppose you
aren't, either,
but the question has become, "Do we want to
win or do we want to make a point?"
If you have an adult opinion on this, I'd like to hear from you.

call it backstab)
McGovern spoke of two kinds of loyalty,
loyalty to people and loyalty to principle.
Gosh, I thought loyalty to people WAS a
principle!
Of course, it isn't the first time McGovern's
dealt with loyalty. Remember how he stood
"behind Eagleton one thousand percent" right
before he dumped him as his running mate?
Carol C
I saw McGovern on ONN (formerly CNN) this morning.
He said Eagleton wasn't fully vetted because he had to spend so
much time
and energy beating back primary challenges from evil men like
Hubert Humphrey.
Gee, I wonder how long before Rush calls for an Obama-Eagleton

McCain to Der Monkey in 2000, Link
Back story:
But many close McCain advisers think the personal rift between
the two men is too wide to bridge,
at least in the near term. After all, the last time Bush tried
to smooth things over - at a South Carolina
debate in early February - the result was less than promising.
During a commercial break, Bush grasped
McCain's hands and made a sugary plea for less acrimony in their
campaign. When McCain pointed out
that Bush's allies were savaging him in direct-mail and phone
campaigns, Bush played the innocent.
"Don't give me that shit," McCain growled, pulling away. "And
take your hands off me."

Why I Hate
Obama
by Maureen Dowd (R-Whore) She hates everybody
WhoreTimes
Excerpt:
Obama is acting the diffident debutante, pretending
not to care that he was given a raspberry by
a state he will need in the fall. He was dismissed
not only by the voters Hillary usually gets, but was
also edged out in blocs that usually prefer him
- the under-30 set, college graduates and affluent voters.
Interviews with West Virginians leaving the polls
showed some profound weaknesses that could haunt
Obama in the fall. More than half said they would
be dissatisfied if Obama was the nominee. Half believe
he shares the views of the Rev. Wright, and more
than half said he does not share their values. More than
half also said that he is not honest and trustworthy.
Just under half of the Clinton voters said they would
not support Obama in the fall.
Obama may have started the primary season with
an inspiring win in 94-percent-white Iowa,
but he is winding it up with a resounding loss
in 94-percent-white West Virginia.

You are only hurting the party and the country.

First, I'd like to apologize for having an opinion that was different

Second, thanks for reading bartcop.com for many years.
Third, where did you see this alleged "Obama bashing," and was it one
tenth as bad as
the "torch the evil bitch" bullshit

Fourth, if
it's true that "Velveeta melting Democrats" won't vote for Obama,
when do you want to find that out - now or on November 6th?
Fifth, we don't have a nominee - we have two people running for that

Cindy McCain's
Tax Returns
by Joe Conason
Link
Excerpt:
Double standards are endemic in American journalism.
But Cindy McCain displayed poor taste
in flaunting her family's special immunity from
press scrutiny. Declaring on NBC's Today that she
would "never" release her income tax returns
even if she becomes first lady, she showed no concern
that she and her husband will have to meet the
same tests as other would-be White House occupants
- ever. Unfortunately, the arrogance of Mrs.
McCain is probably well founded.
She can surely rely upon the discretion of right-wing
media organizations and commentators, which so far
have given her and her husband a free pass on
the income tax question. In contrast to their unrelenting
demands for absolutely complete disclosure by
Bill and Hillary Clinton over alleged or suspected conflicts
of interest, the so-called conservative media
have remained mum about Mrs. McCain.
Joe's right - there's nothing new about America's
whore media slanting their political coverage.
They'll do
anything to prevent the Clintons from giving us more
peace and prosperity.

Excerpt:
Hillary and her husband are now out to
destroy our nominee. Your could argue that it
kind of made sense when Hillary still had
a chance, but now that the race is over and
Hillary has lost, her ongoing
attempts to hurt Obama, to smear him, to make
rural
voters hate him, to convince
us that a black man can't and shouldn't be president,
make her little better than the Republicans
she hated during the 1990s.
John Aravois is angry that "regular white
people" have a problem with Obama.
Shouldn't he be screaming at them?
Is that the kind of thing one should get angry about?
Or, should one look at the facts and consider a change of course?
When headed towards an iceberg, do you scream, "Full
speed ahead?"
or do you realize you still have time to change course and prevent
the catastrophe?
Note: I'm just asking a question.
If you disagree, please state why.
Is it your opinion there is no iceberg ahead?
Or is there an iceberg, and it's Hillary's fault the iceberg
exists?
Bottom line: Would we rather win this election or lose
with honor - again?

Hillary
wins WV by 41 points
Too little, too late" says the whore media
Link
Excerpt:
Today we round up where things stand the morning
after an Obama drubbing -- a 41-point shellacking
in West Virginia. Obama has lost before (though
rarely by this much), but what makes this different is that
this contest came a week AFTER the mainstream
media declared this race over, done, and finished.
Democrats were told for seven days that it was
just a matter of time before She bowed to the inevitable,
and two-thirds of Democratic voters in a swing
state just looked at Obama and said thanks, but no thanks.
Yes, some voters are racists -- but that doesn't
explain a 41-point thumping.
The fact is that working-class voters (yes, the
white ones) aren't hearing what Obama is saying.
The campaign can pretend like this isn't a problem,
but if it's not a problem now, if will be in the fall.
But nobody wants to hear that. If you tell someone, "It
would appear that Obama
can't carry the working class white vote,"
they get very angry and call you a racist
and that's the kind of mentality that could bring the Fascist dogs
another un-earned victory.
Odd, when I turned on Yahoo News this morning,
there was no mention of Her 41-point victory over Obama.
It's almost like the whore media doesn't want you to know.

Bob Barr
for President
Let him be McCain's Nader
Link
Excerpt:
The presidential field just grew by one.
Bob Barr (R-Passes for White) announced that he
will run for president as a Libertarian this year.
He first must win that party's nomination at
its national convention that begins May 22. Mike Gravel,
the mostly-sane former Alaska senator is also
seeking the Libertarian nomination.
A conservative former Republican, Barr could end
up hurting GOP nominee John McCain -- just as
Democrats fear that Nader's self-glorification
could bleed votes from Obama.
Barr, who was treated for priapism seventeen times
during Bill Clinton's impeachment, was a leader
in that failed witchhunt. He quit the Republican
Party two years ago, saying he had grown disillusioned
with its failure to shrink government and its
willingness to scale back civil liberties in fighting terrorism.
Reminder:
Bob Barr is a super-duper "prolife" crusader.
He hates anyone and everyone who "kills babies."
When Larry King asked him why he paid for his wife's abortion,
logic-master Barr answered,
"Larry, we had a joint checking account -
Does it really matter who wrote the check?"
"Yep, dat's
what he said!"

Oil could
hit $200 in 'super-spike'
Nobody saw that coming...
Link
Excerpt:
Oil prices threaten to hit $200 a barrel in a
final "super-spike" over coming months as producers fail
to keep pace with blistering demand from China
and the Middle East, according to Goldman Sachs.
"We believe the current energy crisis may be coming
to a head. A 'super-spike' end game may be
in the early stages of playing out," said Arjun
Murti, the bank's energy strategist.
Goldman Sachs said a chronic lack of supply would
lead to a "dramatic and continuous rise in oil prices",
followed at some point by a sharp fall in oil
demand as consumers retrench.
US crude prices hit a fresh high of $122.35 a
barrel yesterday...
So, is that their plan?
Have oil spike at $200 so we'll all be greateful when it drops to, say,
$145?
We don't mind paying $100 to fill our tank each week, do we?

Subject: America will finally
have some real options
Chris Mathews indicated Hillary lost the nomination
because of her Iraq vote.
I agree. She should have known better.
The generals and admirals and Colin Powell were
against the War being pushed by the JINSA crowd.
How do you know what was in their minds - are
you a mind-reading Obama fan?
If they were against it, why'd they agree to
go along with a useless, bloody invasion?
If they were against it, they should have resigned
- that might've given Bush's rush to war some pause.
Our allies and the UN were against the war.
Why did Hillary get it wrong and refuse to apologize
on the vote?
This was the primary reason she lost in Iowa.
<tons of snippage>
Eric
There's a difference between getting to first base and scoring a run.
Obama's no vote might help him win the nomination, but then he'll have
to explain to a nation
recently rocked by terror (Cheney's coming NY attack) why he chose
to be a "peacenik" and
"sing peace songs" instead of "defending the homeland" from the "Obama-like
Muslims."
I think one reason she voted for the war was to avoid the "peacenik"
label.
I expect them to paint Obama as the "no defense" peacenik who would
never fight back,
never defend America, no matter how many U.S. cities Al Qaeda
sets aflame.
They're going to turn Obama into Willie Horton in reverse.
"A vote for Obama is
a vote to surrender America to Al Qaeda."
Or are you thinking fear no longer works at election time?

Two things
I don't want to hear
1.
"Hillary so damaged Obama, I don't think he can
win." and
"Hillary so damaged Obama,
that's why he lost."
Your chance to say those things is RIGHT NOW.
If Obama can't win, don't wait till November to mention it.
If you pass on saying those thing now,
you give up your right to say them at some future point
2.
Once Hillary steps back, I don't want to hear ONE MORE negative thing
about her.
After accepting her withdrawal, all the "bitch
is dead" Hillary bashing needs to stop.
If Eddie and Randi and Olbermann and the rest keep thrashing her, that's
proof that they're doing it
for fun and profit, and it could prove that they were wrong all
along because if hating Hillary is
all you got, maybe their candidate isn't as good as they think he is.
Somebody with real power, like the Great and Powerful Kos and Huffy
ought to tell their readers
to throttle back on the Hillary hate tsunami after the war's over -
isn't that a good idea?
Problem is - some of those svengali sites got 2-3 times bigger by bashing
Hillary in every story
of every day, every week and every month, so how
can they go back to their once-honorable,
once-respectable, non-Hillary bashing former ways?
Will they become Limbaughs and stay the course on trashing the Clintons
forever?
