Excerpt: Comcast plans to buy a majority stake in NBC
for $13.75 billion, giving the nation's largest cable TV operator
control of the TV network, an array of cable
channels and a major movie studio.
Although the deal could mean that movies could
reach cable more quickly after showing in theaters,
and that TV shows could appear faster on cell
phones and other devices, it was already raising concerns
that Comcast would wield too much power over
entertainment. Indeed, if the deal clears regulatory
and other hurdles, Comcast would rival the heft
Comcast, which already serves a quarter of all
U.S. households that pay for TV, would gain control of t NBC,
Telemundo and about two dozen cable channels,
including USA, Bravo and Syfy. It also would have regional

The deal is a major turning point for Comcast,
catapulting them to a media conglomerate
and above the pack of cable operators that remain

It's all changing, right before our eyes.
The networks are going to take a back seat to whatever's next on the
Will we have "TV shows" ten years from now?
Will we have movies?
"All American progressives should unite for
Barack Obama. We are pleased that Hillary Clinton has been responsive to the tide of voter opinion
this year, and we applaud the possibility of at last electing an American woman President. But progressives should
be disturbed by her duplicitous positions on Iraq and NAFTA... The Clintons ushered in the Wall Street
Democrats whose deregulation ethos has widened inequality while leaving millions of Americans without
their rightful protections against market shocks...A Clinton victory could only be achieved by the dashing
of hope among millions of young people on whom a better future depends."

"It's time to strip the Obama sticker off my
car. Obama's escalation in Afghanistan is the last in a string of disappointments. His flip-flopping acceptance of the
military coup in Honduras has squandered the trust of Latin America. His
Wall Street bailout leaves the poor, the unemployed,
minorities and college students on their own. And now comes the Afghanistan -Pakistan decision to escalate the
stalemate, which risks his domestic agenda, his Democratic base, and possibly
even his presidency...To be clear: I'll
support Obama down the road against Sarah Palin, Lou Dobbs or any of the
pitchfork carriers for the pre-Obama era. But
no bumper sticker until the withdrawal strategy is fully carried out." -- Tom

Excerpt: George Bush never pretended to be something he
wasn't. The same cannot be said for Barack Obama. Obama exploited
the persona of a reformer to the maximum extent.
And it worked. He rode into the White House on a wave of public enthusiasm.
As soon as he was sworn in, he kicked the left
to the curb, expanded the War on Terror, and reinforced the regressive
of the Bush bastards. That last speech was just
the icing on the cake. It exposes Obama as a fraud and a hypocrite.
The policy has not changed at all. In fact, it
is getting worse...
Worse than Bush's double invasions to revenge-murder and steal the assets

Everyone who voted for Obama needs to accept responsibility

Excerpt: Another week, another grotesque mass shooting:
In Washington state this time, leaving four police officers dead, four
destroyed and nine children's lives shattered.
As it's politically unfashionable to wonder whether Americans shouldn't
to keep semi-automatic handguns away from crazy
people, attention soon focused on why mass murderer Maurice Clemmons
wasn't locked away, where he belonged.
Once again, Mike Huckabee struggled to explain
his catastrophically poor judgment. Once again, a violent felon turned
his say-so had run amok. Once again, according
to Huckabee, the disaster was everybody's fault but his own. He issued
buck-passing statement blaming "a series of failures
in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington."
Assisted by an absurdly deferential Bill O'Reilly
on Fox, Huckabee attempted to shift blame to Washington judges who'd freed
Clemmons on $150,000 bail pending trial for child
rape. (Imagine O'Reilly's reaction had Huckabee been a Democrat.)
This almost surely marks the end of Huckabee's
"When my husband left office, we had a balanced
budget and a surplus (Don't forget peace)
. And now to look where we are, given everything that
we've had to deal with, you know, it's not an easy position to be in." -- Hillary, listing a few facts,
In spite of what you hear in the news it does
not take 60 votes in the Senate to pass a bill.
It is not in the Constitution nor are there any
laws that require 60 votes. The 60 vote barrier
is an obscure Senate rule called the filibuster
which requires 60 votes to end debate and get to a vote.
This is a rule that can be changed.
In 2005 when Democrats used the filibuster Republican
threatened to end the practice in a move called
the "nuclear option" which is a procedure for
changing the filibuster rule. The mere threat of ending the filibuster
caused the Democrats to back down from using
it. Now the Democrats have a far larger majority in the Senate
than the Republicans did and the Republicans
are filibustering almost every bill. Their strategy seems to be to get
America to fail and then run in 2010 on the idea
that Democrats are as bad as they are. But the Democrats can
put an end to the Filibuster and bring back majority
rule as the Constitution intended.
So we don't really need 60 votes to pass health
care reform. We only need 50.
It's time the Democrats get tough and use the
power that the People elected them to use.
We need reform and this rule is in the way. The
time has come for Democrats to step up
and quit acting like they are in the minority
and use the nuclear option and put the filibuster down.
Democrats can't allow the Republicans to steal
power in the 2010 election because of a record of failure.
Excerpt: So sad to read that the New York State Senate
voted down the Gay Marriage Bill.
It saddens and sickens me that modern government
and society has learned nothing from history
but continue the vicious cycle of ignorance and
intolerance whilst quoting and twisting from a bible
that at its root, preaches love and understanding
and equality for all.
Shame on all those who judge others so harshly
that they will rob them of their civil liberties.
Shame on those who will attempt to strip others
of their dignity and their right to walk among us as equals on this earth.
Shame on those who teach our children to discriminate
Shame on those who stand in government and preach
about morality and the sanctimony of marriage whilst fucking around
on their wives with underage girls
or boys, men or women, prostitutes or rent boys.
Shame on those who dare to profess an exact knowledge
of what god intended marriage to be.
Are they so arrogant that they believe god is
in agreement with their every thought and opinion?
Excerpt: Palin may or may not run for president in 2012,
but she is already the big favorite in the Limbaugh/ Beck primaries
In a new WaHoPo poll, Palin beats other GOP leaders
on two questions: who best represents the party's core values,
and who Republicans would vote for if the presidential
nomination battle were held today. But she has particular appeal
to the loyal followers of handjobs Limbaugh and
Beck, two of the most popular douchebags in the country.
Overall, 18 percent of Republicans and GOP-leaning
independents cited her as the person most representative of the
party's core values, the highest percentage among
prominent Republican figures. Among those who regularly listen to
Limbaugh, however, Palin was cited by 48 percent,
and among Beck's viewers, it was 35 percent, far surpassing others.
I used to think it was funny that the insane birther handjobs would
take over the GOP - now I'm not sure.
They live in an alternate universe, where water freezes at 42 degrees.

Excerpt: Homosexuals and transsexuals "will never enter
the kingdom of heaven", a leading Roman Catholic cardinal said on Wednesday.
Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan said that while
the Church regarded homosexuality as an "insult to God", this did not justify
discrimination against gay and transsexual people.
No, you just want them to burn for eternity.
"Transsexuals and homosexuals will never enter
the kingdom of heaven and it is not me who says this, but Saint Paul,"
the cardinal said, in comments reported by the
Ansa news agency.
"People are not born homosexual, they become homosexual,
for different reasons: education issues or because they did not
develop their own identity during adolescence.
It may not be their fault, but acting against nature and
the dignity of the
human body is an insult to God," he said.
Why isn't God smart enough to come up with a plan that doesn't blame
This publicity-whore cardinal admits you can be gay and innocent, but
he wants them punished, anyway.
This is the same idiotic reasoning that gave us "Original Sin," which
is church-speak for
"You owe everything to the Church because
Jesus died for YOUR sins 2,000 years ago."
Hey, who asked him to?
The Catholics are the homeless man who spits on your windshield, pushes
it around with a squeegie
and then claims you owe him money for a task you never asked him to
No wonder people are rejecting this craziness by the billions.
Excerpt: First off, he needs to quit blaming the media.
Blaming someone else for his own failures isn't
going to win him any lasting sympathy.
The whole "I did wrong but it's also your fault
for publicizing it" approach is cheap and just skirts the real issue.
He needs to go on "Oprah" and do a Barbara Walters
special. He needs to appear with his wife, Elin, at his side
-- assuming, of course, she's staying. He needs
to get new images of himself out in public to counteract the sound
of a desperate cheater on
that voicemail. He needs to open every door, tell every tale,
lay out the truth.
If he wants this to go away and yet still retain
some of his dignity and his image, he needs to open every door now.
He needs to go on David Letterman's show, for
Letterman handled his crisis the right way - he
pre-empted his accusers.
Not only that, he was able to make himself out
to be a sympathetic victim.
