NSA 'Foiled 50 Terror Plots'
Link
The US government's sweeping surveillance programmes have foiled some 50 terrorist plots worldwide,
the director of the National Security Agency has said.
They included a plan to bomb the New York Stock Exchange and another aimed at a Danish newspaper
that had published a cartoon image of the Prophet Mohammed.
In a rare open hearing of the House Intelligence Committee, Army General Keith Alexander said the two
recently disclosed programmes are "critical" in the fight against terrorism.
Democrats don't want to hear what their president says.
I think they have decided Obama is a liar and the case is closed.

You sound proud of our governments technological achievements: the ability to spy on anyone, anytime and anywhere.
Would that rather you be outraged about it than at all the folks finally getting to the party late.
I'm already lost.
Could Obama have changed the course? He had three options:
1) End up like JFK for trying.
2) Begin the debate by trying to do something (and maybe rally his base behind him).
3) Never address it except to say what a fine job all the spooks are doing...then ignore it.
Those of us opposed to these programs only want three things...
1) Require the use of warrants in every case, not blanket or even secret warrants but specific and sealed if need be.
Obama says that's the case NOW.
The problem is, Democrats don't believe their "liar" President.
2) Require those warrants be based on probable cause according to rules of evidence, and
3) Require those warrants be issued by judges or grand juries from the affected districts.
Now why is that so hard to understand? And why do you keep railing against it?
PS: As the Supreme Court has yet to rule on the Constitutionality of these programs they can hardly be called “legal”,
they only exist without a lot of formal opposition from the other branches of government.
So remember, deporting Jews and other “undesirables” was legal in Germany during World War II, but it didn’t help things at all.
Should our country leave such powerful tools in the hands of men so weak to power and temptation?

The Clintons are getting the old band back together again for one last geriatric tour.
Hillary 2016. Because 22 years of Clintons dominating the Beltway isn’t enough.
Her campaign slogan: “Vote for me. I am a woman. What difference does it make?”
The Draft Hillary movement is really taking off. There hasn’t been this much excitement
behind a Draft Hillary movement since, well, the last time there was a Draft Hillary movement.
Remember that? Back in 2008? When she was the “inevitable nominee”? She was the
“most electable” Democrat running? She was the only one who could beat the Republicans?
Didn’t exactly work out as advertised. But this being the Clintons, there is no more shame
in that than there is in the incident with the intern, sketchy stories about cattle futures or
missing law firm records magically reappearing.
They’re not even changing the talking points. Once again, the nomination is hers for the asking.
She is inevitable — again. It is time for a woman in the White House — again.
She is the only electable Democrat in the mix — again.
Odds are Hillary was OK with the NSA spying - does that make her unelectable?
Someone should ask her so we can start getting behind Biden.

Rubio vs GOP on Immigration

Referencing a Jay Leno one-liner, Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Texas, got under Rubio’s skin when he
questioned fellow conservatives about the wisdom of giving citizenship to "11 million undocumented Democrats."
Laughter, some of it nervous, spread throughout the room. But not everyone found Burgess's crack funny.
According to several people who attended the June 5 gathering, Rubio glared at Burgess.
This account sheds light on what is perhaps the most politically obvious conservative argument against
providing citizenship to the nation's illegal immigrants. With all the noise surrounding the debate over policy
specifics, there is still an underlying political argument whispered among some of Congress's most racist members:
After 71 percent of Hispanics voted for Obama in 2012, why should Republicans add millions more to the voting rolls?
Not everyone feels the need to whisper. At this year's CPAC, Rep. Steve King of Iowa (R-Crazy) the leading
immigration hard-liner in the House GOP—earned laughter and applause during an immigration panel when he quipped:
"Even Republicans seem to think that these undocumented Democrats could be made voters and somehow we're going
to win in that equation. And what happens is that two out of every three that would be legalized become Democrats."
So how does Rubio maintain his 2016 front-runner status if the Baggers are laughing at him?
Rubio isn't racist enough for today's GOP.

but in a new interview, she says that their relationship -- and their split -- was a nightmare.

However, things with Brand, who Perry said was controlling, are anything but "magical" these days.
"Let's just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011."

Hello Bartcop,
Koresh forbid that you have an opinion that doesn't fit the progressive orthodoxy
that people want to stop visiting your website as if you are a traitor.
You are correct when you say that Dems love stabbing one another in the back.
Not only do you allow opposing points of view, most of the political cartoons
you have put up oppose your point of view. I was always worried about the
U.S. Government's role as Big Brother but I believe it is any asshole with a
phone camera that uploads something that is candid on YouTube or Facebook.
It's as if we can't have private moments anymore. Case in point: after Justin Rose
finished his last hole at the U.S. Open, he made a gesture toward heaven and was
probably acknowledging his late Dad and appeared to be crying. But the fucking camera
couldn't leave that alone and followed him into the clubhouse to see if he was still crying. WTF?
In regards to liberals who are going to sit out the 2014 elections, Obama has been disappointing
on things that I consider cherished Liberal ideals but letting the Rethugs get more power is going
to be as if we are living back in the 1950's. Look at what they are doing in regards to abortion.
Soon we will be to living in a Christian Theocracy. Is that what you all really want?
It's not a perfect world out there, and as you say Bartcop, it's like living by Central Park and wanting a pony.
You are not Dick Cheney and you have a heart of gold. I have never met you in person but I consider you a dear friend.
