If insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result,
it’s tempting to observe that congressional Republicans have gone stark, raving mad. My own
GOP congressman, Rep. Tim Griffin, recently delivered himself of an opinion column boasting
about having “voted more than 30 times to repeal all or parts of Obamacare.”
Only in politics does somebody expect praise for sheer futility.
Characteristically, Griffin’s column began by misrepresenting Senator Max Baucus. No, Max didn’t
call Obamacare a “train wreck.” In context, Baucus was complaining about Congress’s refusal to
adequately fund programs helping people understand the law. With so much disinformation out there,
he feared that public ignorance would lead to citizens initially missing out on its benefits.
But then fostering public ignorance is the whole GOP game plan at this point. Having been defeated
in the House and Senate, failing to have Obamacare declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court,
and being rejected by voters in the 2012 presidential election, disinformation and sabotage are all they’ve got left.

What makes you so dead certain that Snowden’s motivation is a desperate need for attention?
I ask because you offer no evidence at all to support that conclusion.
I don't like him. I have plenty of experience with scumbags and hustlers.
When he starts that "I will fight for YOU until Obama has me murdered" crap,
my bullshit detector starts barking like a chihuahua on Cuervo Gold.
Nobody asked him to martyr himself, but he wants credit for it, anyway.
Then, again without evidence, you assert that Snowden has ‘set himself up to make headlines forever.’
His buddy Glenn Greenwald says there are LOTS of leaks to come.
If you want to be understood on this issue you’ve got to show your work… that would be a
sequence of steps showing sound reasoning, supported by verifiable evidence. So far you haven’t
shown your work.

The family "rescued" from a car accident by Zippy, days after he got away with murder,
canceled plans to thank him publicly because they fear being linked to someone reviled by
most Americans, Zippy's lawyer said on Wednesday.
"The family realized that George Zimmerman is very toxic," claimed Mark O'Mara.
The planted story had Zimmerman plucking two children and their parents to safety from
a Ford Exploder last week, after it "overturned in an accident." authorities said.
Mark and Dana Gerstle, who were "rescued" with their children from the overturned SUV,
have refused to talk to the media and have posted a "no trespassing" sign outside their home.

The Snowden Distraction
Dear Bart:
We need to move beyond the conversation about what Snowden did and on into the more serious
concerns expressed by Senator Wyden (D-OR) regarding the surveillance things we still don’t know
about and the extent to which secret laws regarding these are anathema to a functioning democracy.
This Senator is opposed to what is going down and he has not been able to speak his mind publicly until now.

Secret laws are not required to undertake secret programs. WTF good does it do to have a public interpretation
of the Patriot Act that is entirely different than the secret interpretation that is actually employed by the state?

or we will effectively lose the option of doing so for all time.

As state laws decriminalizing marijuana begin to take effect (and grow in number), proponents of the drug
have been holding their breaths to see how ouir Reefer Madness President would react. And in Washington State,
it looks like several medical marijuana dispensaries found out the answer today as Obama's DEA confirmed a
series of raids on legal pot stores in the Seattle area.
One of the dispensaries was the Bayside Collective in Olympia, the state capital, where seven government vehicles
converged Wednesday morning. Agents with guns drawn because they have small penises seized business records
and about $2,500 worth of marijuana intended for cancer patients, Casey Lee, who works at the clinic, said
"It's humiliating," Lee said. "They don't get to see the cancer patients."
"Eric, stay on them,. Raid them every week.
Cancer patients need to respect the rule of law!"

It’s now painfully clear that the president has put out a contract on the Fourth Amendment.
Oh, so it's going to be one of those "fair and balanced" articles?
And at the Capitol, the hierarchies of both parties are stuffing it into the trunks of their limousines,
so each provision can be neatly fitted with cement shoes and delivered to the bottom of the Potomac.
So now it's comedy hour?
Edward Snowden’s heroic revelations...
Gag me - can't you even pretend to be partly objective?
Al Franken said in early June. “I can assure you, this is not about spying on the American people.”
From his Senate office, one press release after another has been packed with blather like overstuffed sausages.
Franken is full of blather - meaning he's a liar like Obama is a liar.
They can't be mistaken, they can't be sincere, they are liars.
Can you see how badly this guy wants a war?
It's not possible that Obama has more facts and a better understanding of rhus subject than you.
If you disagree, it's because Obama is coming with cement shoes. It's like reading The Onion.
BTW, what is Norman Soloman's solution?
"...only a direct challenge to the Obama administration’s policies can rise to the level
of the current historic imperative to restore civil liberties in the United States."
What does that mean?
Does he want Obama arrested?
Is he calling for the overthrow of the government?

I heard Alec Baldwin on Stern today.
He said he was called to the Manhattan District Attorney's office, (that would be the one
portrayed on NBC's Law & Order) and he was told they were contemplating hate crimes charges
against him for alledgedly calling a bothersome Black papparazzi, "a coon."
Baldwin says he never said it and challenged them to prove he said it.
Can you reallty be arrested in New York for name-calling?

Hi Bart,
I don't think you are alone on this. I pretty much agree with you on this issue and I believe a
lot of other readers do too. Like you, my life hasn't changed and theirs hasn't either. I still feel
safe and I enjoy my life. That's why it took me till now to add my opinion on your page.
If Snowden was sincere about his patriotism he would have stayed here to face the music.
Instead he ran, taking sensitive computers with him to fucking Russia. Yep, a real American hero.
If he would have pulled a Daniel Ellsberg and said, "Yes I did it. America needs to know,
and I'm ready to stay and pay" I would be on his side.
Now he's stuck. Sleeping with the enemy and that's all he gets.
