Is Dithering Always Bad?
Let's hope not, Obama's the Champ
  by John Grant

  Link

The media didn’t waste time lining up US leaders to trash Putin’s recent op-ed in The New York Times.
There was the expected outrage that such a “dictator” and “tyrant” had the gall to lecture tus. Bill O’Reilly
referred to Putin as “a criminal monster.” Charles Krauthammer kept it real and called Putin "a KGB thug.”

When it comes to Syria and Russia and the use of chemical weapons against civilians, the matter of hypocrisy
rises to a more profound level. The moral high ground all these Putin-bashers claim does not exist. Mention the
words Vietnam, napalm, white phosphorus, agent orange, carpet bombing, shock & awe and depleted uranium
and the moral outrage begins to evaporate into crocodile tears meant to stir up more bloody war.

The only hope for a good outcome in the Syrian imbroglio
is if everyone concedes there’s plenty of historic evil to go around

So what have we learned?
Putin is NOT a thug or a dictator and we're wrong to call him names.
Shame on Obama for using napalm, agent orange and white phosphorus on little Syrian babies.
Obama is every bit the monster Assad and Putin are and we're sure because we're Democrats.

Why would anyone ever want to be a Democratic president?

Question: How much longer can the GOP hold their title of "The Party of Hate?"

The Death of Gun Control
Coloradoans like 100-round clips - go figure

  Link

Ever since the Senate voted down gun-control legislation in April, some advocates have remained
convinced there was still hope. As of Tuesday, that hope is officially dead.

On Tuesday, two Colorado state senators, both Democrats, were recalled by voters for their votes
in favor of gun control. Gun-rights advocates instigated the recall drives; the NRA spent $360,000,
sending mailers and airing television ads calling the lawmakers "too extreme for Colorado."
Gun-control proponents, buoyed by donations from Mike Bloomberg, outspent their opponents
five to one. But the NRA turned the money against the lawmakers, painting them as pawns of
fancy-pants out-of-state liberal interests. And the NRA won.

The irony is - if you are surrounded by crazy people with guns,
it makes sense to own one for self defense.

Obama Gives Democracy a Chance
  by Gene Lyons

  Link

It’s not necessary to think that President Obama has performed brilliantly throughout this debacle
to suspect that next time around it’s going to be much harder for an action-hero president to stampede
the country into war. As a corollary, hawkish politicians will find it more difficult to intimidate skeptics
by questioning their patriotism.

Ten years ago, fools were pouring Bordeaux wine into gutters and ordering “freedom fries” because the
French urged Bush to let U.N. weapons inspectors in Iraq do their work. Ten years ago, American agents
were kidnapping suspected terrorists and delivering them into al-Assad’s dungeons to be tortured.
Ten years ago, “diplomacy” was a dirty word, a synonym for cowardice.

Ten years ago, Bush ordered weapons inspectors busily finding no WMDs in Iraq to clear out, and
commenced his “shock and awe” bombing campaign. The “embedded” American news media treated
the subsequent invasion like the world’s largest Boy Scout Jamboree.

These days, six out of ten Americans oppose bombing Syria.  “A war-weary public that can turn an eye
from children being gassed—or express doubt that it happened—is another poisoned fruit of the Bush years,”
comments New York Times columnist Tim Egan.

Yes, Democrats continue to hold Obama accountable for Bush's crimes.

Hi Bart.  As usual, you are one of the few seeing things as they are.

I don't think the developments with Putin being made responsible for Assad
using chemical weapons is an accident.  I think that was Obama's plan all along.
I think Kerry's gaffe was actually Kerry letting the cat out of the bag.

Kerry is not the poker player Obama is.
Putin walked into Obama's trap and is desperately trying to get out.
His only hope is to get Americans against the President's call for military action.
The difficult part is getting dummies like Chris Matthews to understand what
the President is trying to accomplish and stop double guessing his every move.
We all need to stand with the President.
 Otto R

Otto, I agree, but half the Democrats are carrying toreches and they want blood.

Rapist Pastor gets No Jail Time
After all, he only raped 60 kids

 Link

An Iowa pastor who was arrested on 60 counts of suspected sexual exploitation of minors got zero jail time.

The pastor, Brent Girouex, believed that praying while having sex with the boys would cure them of being gay.
He’s admitted to having sex with four boys, but at least eight have come forward.

Girouex attempt to cure one boy between 25 and 100 times.  Girouex is said to have told detectives
“when they would ejaculate, they would be getting rid of the evil thoughts in their mind.”

So, this guy is free - while part-time pot growers sit in prison because THEY are a danger to society.

In 1855, a young lady’s most precious possession is her reputation. Unfortunately, sixteen-year-old Georgia Marsh
has lost hers and faces a grim future with no prospects of marriage. Her fortune changes when a mysterious stranger
asks her to wear an ancient pendant for a week —a pendant which grants great power, but only for those able to carry it.
Most young women would buckle under the burden of such an object, but Georgia has a pure heart. She becomes
the pendant's new bearer and the keeper of the awesome power it contains. But a pure heart is little protection against
magic transferred through an act of trickery. Tied to an object that won’t obey her and won’t let her pass it on,
Georgia must explore the history of the pendant and unlock the secret of its creation if she is to save herself.

A new CNN poll 65% of Democrats say they would likely back Hillary in 2016.
Joe Biden comes in a distant second at 10%.

The poll also indicates no GOP front-runner among the potential contenders.

 ha ha
They're all equally disgusting.

Seventeen percent of Republicans say they are likely to support Chris Christie.
Other GOP crazies, including Paul Ryan and Rand Paul, are not far behind.

Only 8% of conservative Republicans say they would back Christie,
compared to 28% of self-described moderate Republicans.

In the Democratic battle, Clinton rates higher with women than men.
Biden scores higher with voters age 50 and older.

Subject: Re: big banks aren't better.

Bart…

Re “Why didn't Obama fix this when he had the chance?”

When did he have a chance?
What didn’t he do that he would have been able to do?
Thx you
 lynn

When the big banks came to Obama, begging for a bailout, Obama said, "OK."
Too bad he didn't say, "I'll bail you out if you chop your banks into ten pieces."

That way, instead of putting tremendous economic power in the hands of a few,
you can give hundreds of people some economic power - it's much safer that way.

While we're on it, we need to break up the BIG food processors, too.
Under our present set-up, if there's some food contagion problem,
it can affect millions of people in 25 states - that's a stupid risk to take.

They have these BIG food processing plants because they're f-ing super-greedy.

US Can't Prove Assad Ordered Gassings
  Link

U.S. intelligence has yet to uncover evidence that Assad directly ordered the chemical attacks
last month on civilians in a suburb of Damascus, though the consensus inside U.S. agencies and
Congress is that members of Mr. Assad’s inner circle likely gave the command, officials tell The Washington Times.

The gap in the intelligence has raised debate in some corners of the wider intelligence community about whether
Assad has full control of his war-weary Army and their arsenal of chemical missiles, which most likely would be
treasured by terrorist groups known to be operating in Syria, said officials, who spoke only on the condition of
anonymity because they were discussing intelligence matters.

It's called "moving the goal posts."

It started out, "I'll bet Obama personally ordered the CIA to gas those kids."

Then it because, "It was probably the rebels, themselves, trying to frame poor Assad."

Now it's, "Granted, Assad's army did it, but did anyone hear him personally give the order?"

Why do the Cowboys Always Underachieve?

Link

The same sad story is repeating itself in Dallas: A team loaded with talent
that can't seem to produce results in the win column.

Following a big division win on Sunday Night Football in Week 1, the Cowboys
were frustrated by the Kansas City Chiefs, 17-16, in Week 2.

It begs the same question: Why do the Cowboys always seem to underachieve
despite having one of the most dynamic rosters in the NFL?

Is it Tony Romo, or is he and the offense just an easy target
for larger, systemic problems in Dallas?

Maybe they should try a few ganes without Gomer.

The Voyager 1 probe has become the first man-made object to enter interstellar space, NASA announced today.

Scientists report they have strong evidence that the unmanned spacecraft has crossed the magnetic

The announcement comes more than 36 years after the unmanned spacecraft lifted off on a journey
that gave humans close-up views of Jupiter and Saturn before heading toward deep space.   Link

Subject: Syria

Bart,

I am pleased on how the Syrian issue turned out! It's the best possible outcome, imo.
Maybe this was the hoped for plan all along.   It doesn't matter. It worked.
My fears of any military action have receded,  even knowing the "option" remains.

Now I think we need to move on to the next crisis coming here at home:
the debt ceiling, trying to prevent a government shut down.
( I first wrote government shitdown but caught it. Kinda funny though).

GOP leadership (is there any such thing?) seems completely unable to control the Tea Party wackos.
These coming fights could be ugly. We'll need to be paying attention.
