Bartcop was one of the first blogs I found in the dark days after Bush stole the election. I was very fond of Bart and his tequila recommendations.

I've been reading Bartcop since the 90s. My son grew up with Bart, and it was one of his favorite pages, too. Whether you agreed or disagreed with Bart, he always spoke his mind, walked his talk, and didn't back down. He spoke for many of us, and he kept going even in the face of personal loss and adversity. We will miss him. Condolences to Mrs. Bart and their families.

Rita , I am so very sorry to learn of Barts passing. He did so much to help keep me sane, when I thought there was no hope, during the bush years. He has made our country a better place.

Bart was one of the few voices of sanity in the world when I started reading him back in the 90's. There were very few then who thought the Limbaugh faction would ever be beaten back from their stranglehold on US politics. Bart stood up and fought back, and did so unflaggingly for twenty years. That took conviction, courage and great heart. He was an inspiration to many, and he will be sorely missed by all those he invited into his extended family. It is truly a dark day, not only for us, but for the entire country, for the things he stood for and his writing affected many of us in a very deep and personal way. Many of the new voices on the left had their first inspiration right here on this page.

My deepest sympathies to everyone, especially to Mrs. Bart.
