If the Democrats Want to Win...
is Robert Parry going into comedy?

 consortiumnews.com

 Excerpt:
If the Democrats really want to prevail, they would put back on the table two options
that their leaders have removed: a cut-off of war funding and impeachment.

Democrats could make the case that Bush has trampled on the Constitution; he has ensnared us in a
catastrophic war by lying; and he has his eyes set on more dangerous chicanery in the months ahead.

The Democrats could explain that Bush has refused to compromise when offered the chance; he has told
the people's representatives that their only war role is to finance whatever "the decider" wants to do; he has
declared that he has the right to ignore or break the law; he has engaged in cover-ups of serious wrongdoing
by his subordinates and is now counting on his right-wing judicial appointees to protect him from oversight.

If the Democrats would simply list the facts - and the great thing is - that costs nothing.
But they refuse to do it - they just offer excuse after excuse.

Meanwhile, now that the GOP is in the minority, they're blocking everything.
How can they block everything when the Democrats insisted year after year
that their minority status rendered them powerless,
freeing the majority party to run wild and unchecked?

Why is the minority GOP so powerful when the minority Democrats were so totally helpless?

...you know I could do a better job.

Bill Kristol's wretched cry for help

         "I love Bush's wars!"

 smirkingchimp.com

 Excerpt:
It's too easy to give William Kristol of neocon celebrity what he wants and expects: ridicule.
Because what he needs is help. The poor man has enjoyed a rest from reality for some time now,
but whoever still loves him should seek court-ordered observation. For his sad condition is peaking,
with the acute now mercilessly peppering the chronic.

Kristol's latest and most bizarre op-ed yet, "Why Bush Will Be a Winner," which the WaHoPo printed Monday,
is bookended by these pitiable hyperventilations: "I suppose I'll merely expose myself to harmless ridicule if I make
the following assertion: George W. Bush's presidency will probably be a successful one"; and, "If Petraeus succeeds
in Iraq, and a Republican wins in 2008, Bush will be viewed as a successful president. I like the odds."

GOP: We hate all our candidates

 Link

 Excerpt:
More Republicans have become apathetic about their top options over the past month.
A hefty 23 percent can't or won't say which candidate they would back, a jump from 14 percent.

Giuliani's slide continued as potential entry Thompson drops his support to 21 percent from 27.

Rudy is running even with Thompson, who is a threat without entering the race. Thompson is steady
at 19 percent while McCain (R-Ass-kisser) drops to 15 percent, while Romney dies at 11 percent.

Subject: Good idea

Mr. Bart, you published:

> "If Hillary is elected she might make Valerie Plame director of the CIA."
>     -- Rush, fighting thru that siphilitic fever again

I agree with Pigboy on this - sounds like a GREAT idea !!

Plame would bring much-needed ethics, truth and sanity to the CIA - get rid of all those
war-mad demented men and replace them with a Totally Sharp Intelligent Woman!!
CIA Director Plame sounds GREAT to me!!

Devil's Energy Task Force Revealed!

.....
"Not your business!"

 tpmmuckraker.com

 Excerpt:
At the dawn of the Bush administration, Cheney's 2001 Energy Task Force was the hot social ticket
for leading luminaries of future GOP scandals.

Once a closely-held secret, the Whore Post today publishes the dance card (I hate cute) for the task force.
Cheney, citing executive go fuck yourself, took the public's right not to know all the way to Bush's Supreme Court
when Congress asked to see the dance card published today. The list was heavy on energy-industry big shots,
including Kenneth Lay, who got a private meeting with Cheney on April 17, 2001:

The biggest polluters on the planet came asking for favors - and they left happy. Exxon-Mobil and Enron came by
for the first of two meetings. On March 5, it was Duke Energy and Constellation Energy Group. British Petroleum
were blown on March 22 along with twenty other oil and drilling companies. The National Mining Association,
the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America and the American Petroleum Institute were among three dozen
trade associations that left with that just-satisfied glow on their faces.

By the way, it's "Kenny who?"

"I ain't never met the man, I think he
was a supporter of Ann Richards..."

Subject: Fricken Hell...

Dear (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid,

You FAILED to bring a meaningful vote to the Senate regarding any pullout from Iraq last night.
You need to go, my friend...

I am sick and tired of cowards... pink-tutu democrats trying to play toe-to-toe with Bush the lesser and failing.

You have made the Democratic majority a laughingstock of American politics.
Another opportunity lost! My GOD...

I will copy this same message to:

Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstien, Hillary Clinton (BIG DOG), Barack Obama and John Edwards.
Bob Shrum (the loser) can kiss my ass...

Maybe ya'll should really take a hard look at bartcop.com

Obama's 250,000 donors

 Link

 Excerpt:
Obama said goodbye to 10,000 people who had gathered to hear him speak in Oakland.
They paid nothing to hear him, but spent $40,000 on shirts, caps, buttons and other knickknacks.
And the Obama campaign registered each of the purchasers as one of the record 258,000 contributors
it signed up in the first six months of the year.

Obama's campaign has also employed novel tactics - like counting sales of  tickets or key chains as
individual contributions - to pump up his numbers and transform grass-roots enthusiasm into more
useful forms of support. No other campaign is known to have listed paraphernalia sales as donations.

Obama has a problem no other Democrat has.
He's declared himself the "above petty politics" candidate, so getting caught hurts him more.
Like a gay-basher getting caught with a male meth hooker, Obama shouldn't be put in the position
of having to explain why his numbers are fudged, or why he mislead the voters.

If you wait till you get caught to explain the way you count "contributors," it smells bad.
After all, that's the kind of thing we expect from the Clintons, not Barack Obama.

Rubber-stamp begs Tortureboy

"Please? Pretty please?"

 Link

 Excerpt:
A sickeningly pathetic Democrat begged Tortureboy Gonzales Wednesday to clear up apparent conflicts
in testimony from Gonzales and top liars in the Justice Department about the firing of federal prosecutors.
Patrick Leahy, D-Weenie) sent his begging in writing so Gonzales, Bush & Cheney could all have a big laugh.

Gonzales has lied to congressional committees several times, like when hr told the Judiciary committees that he
hadn't talked with anyone about the investigation into the prosecutor firings.  But Monica Goodling, the Justice
Department's former White House liaison, told the House committee in May that Gonzales lies like a rug.

I wish they would stop begging and act like angry men.
Democrats always talk about the big bet they're going to make,

...then they fold.

Subject: Where do the candidates stand on Reality?

America is in trouble is that our leaders have turned their backs on reality, relying too much on faith instead.
The candidates in both parties have stated how faith is part of their private and public lives.

What I want to know is -- where does reality fit into your life
and will you make your decisions as president based on faith or reality?

I want to know if you've are willing to make a personal commitment to the pursuit of reality
the way it really is and let reality guide you to restore the soul of our nation?

Subject: polygamists

Bart: Not to be too picky, but Romney is a convert to Mormonism  - - - his relatives were never polygamists.

I think you're wrong.
I read that his great, great-grandfather had 5 wives.

While you are correct that polygamy is not worse than murder,
some victims of polygamy describe their experience as being raped.

I agree with that one.

Polygamy was once a practiced by Mormons, it is not now
and has not been a part of that religion for over 100 years.

So who are those thousands of multi-wived people on the Utah/Arizona border?

Let's move on.

Bush - Madison's Nightmare

 Link

 Excerpt:
Amid all the frenetic early maneuvering in the 2008 GOP presidential race, Republicans may be
missing the elephant in the room: namely that the head of the herd is bleeding to death on the carpet.

That would be Bush, whose approval rating scraped new lows last week. Bush won't be on the ballot in 2008,
but throughout, outgoing presidents have cast a long shadow over the campaign to succeed them. And when a
departing president has been as hated as Bush is, his party has usually lost the White House in the next election.

Experience suggests that Republicans are vastly underestimating the challenge of escaping the Bush undertow.
If he cannot recover at least somewhat, or if the party does not separate itself from him more effectively
- or both - the GOP may be dragged under.

Subject: Catholic Sexual Abuse Insurance

Hi Bart,
So, let me get this straight: The Catholics bought Sexual Abuse Insurance......
they make a claim for $60 million, and it's not DENIED???

What health care insurance provider would pay out that kind of money?
So, they'll pay out for sexual abuse but, say, not life-long injuries sustained on 9/11?

Would YOU sell Sexual Abuse Insurance to the Catholic Church?
 Lucy

Not me.
I'd hate to bet a rapist that he won't rape again.

Iraq pumped 3.5M barrels daily before Bush invaded

Bush is stealing $220,000,000every day.

It's the biggest theft in Earth's history.

Exxon made $10B profit in 90 days

How much did BIG OIL make yesterday?
Exxon makes $108M - every day

Bush can live with that,
because Iraq's oil wells have no meters
and his front company is moving to Dubai.

 $100M a day,

$300M a day - where's that money going?

July 14, 2003: A Day of Infamy
 by Ray McGovern

 consortiumnews.com

 Excerpt:
For those tracking the long train of abuses of a modern-day George who would be King,
July 14 has a resonance far beyond the fireworks of Bastille Day.

Four loosely related events on this day four years ago throw revealing light on key ingredients of the debacle in Iraq.
First, on July 14, 2003 the WaHoPo carried a column by Robert Novak titled "Mission to Niger,"
Second, that same day we Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) sent a memorandum to Bush
recommending that he "ask for Cheney's immediate resignation."
Third: On July 14, 2003 Kucinich, frustrated by all the deceit, held a briefing on WMDs, if ever any, in Iraq.
Fourth: Bush played the inspector-lie card:  "We gave them a chance to allow the inspectors in, and he wouldn't let them in.
And, therefore, after a reasonable request, we decided to remove him from power,

Compare Bush's lies with the facts:
Kofi Anon: "Yesterday [we] got information from the United States authorities that it would be prudent
not to leave our staff in the [Iraq] region. So we will withdraw the [UN] inspectors."

As long as the media and the Democrats don't call him on his lies, he will keep telling them.
Why should it be up to Stewart, Colbert, Buzzflash and Bartcop to educate the people?

Two Garbage CDs coming - one on Tuesday, one next summer.

Bart, I saw this today and thought you might find it interesting:

Absolute Garbage - Garbage ( Buy DVD) Four albums and seven Grammy® nominations later,
Garbage has its first best of DVD collection - Absolute Garbage. Among the 15 Garbage music videos
on DVD for the first time. Plus unreleased in the U.S.: You Look So Fine and Shut Your Mouth.

Also included is almost an hour of never-before-seen footage backstage and behind-the-scenes,
