"...and hearing the heroic stories the principal, lunging trying to protect -- I wish to God
she had had an M4 in her office locked up. So, when she heard gunfire she pulls it out
and she didn't have to lunge heroically with nothing in her hands, but she takes him out,
takes his head off before he can kill those precious kids."

--  Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX - where else?)    Link

He has a point - but only to a point.
The problem is, if "everyone" has a gun, what kind of country is that?

Years ago, a really smart man - no, wait - it was me - wrote a super-short story
about what could happen when everyone had a gun.

If you ever want to refer back to it,
 just remember http://bartcop.com/shooting-at-walmart.htm

Do me a favor and read it - it will only take about 60 seconds.

The NRA - Worse than al Qaeda

  Link

It's time for America to wake up to a new reality -- that for more than a generation, a radical fringe
group has held sway over the American political process, a cadre that now traffics in conspiracy
theories as loony as many militias or "Patriot" groups, that has with no evidence accused the president
of planning to grant himself dictatorial powers while embracing "black helicopter"-style tropes about
the U.S. surrendering its power to the United Nations, a posse that's clashed with America's police
chiefs over issues like so-called "cop killer" bullets and has thwarted all efforts to eliminate weapons
that are only good for committing mass murder.

This is not about the millions of decent, law-abiding American gun owners who are not only responsible
in handling their weapons but who overwhelmingly support reasonable steps toward preventing violence.
No, this is about the leadership of the National Rifle Association -- a group that has veered far, far away
from its 20th century origins as a sensible gun-safety group -- and about their allied merchants of death
who've learned that paranoia can be profitable, and about a handful of radical foot soldiers who pretend
to speak for all.

In every gun store in the South (haven't actually been to each one) there is a photoshopped
picture
of Obama with a Hitler mustache and he's saying, "I'm coming for your guns."

I know, we're all shocked that American businessmen would lie and use race-baiting to make higher profits
but in this case they've pushed another hundred million guns into the American marketplace and that's deadly.

Robert Bork, Failure, Dies at 85

  Link

Robert H. Bork, whose failed Supreme Court nomination in 1987 infuriated conservatives and politicized
the confirmation process for the ensuing decades, died Wednesday at the age of 85.

The former Yale law professor and judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit had a history
of heart problems and had been in poor health for some time.

In the 1960s and '70s, Bork argued that a liberal-dominated Supreme Court was abusing its power and
remaking American life by ending prayers in public schools, by extending new rights to criminals,
by ordering cross-town busing and by voiding the laws against abortion.

He served as a footnote to history in the Watergate scandal. When the crooked president ordered the firing
of special counsel Archibald Cox, the attorney general and his deputy resigned in protest. Bork, who was in
the No. 3 post as U.S. solicitor general, then carried out Nixon’s order. The law meant nothing to him.

But Bork’s biggest moment came in the 1980s. Reagan appointed him to the U.S. court of appeals in the
District of Columbia. The job was seen as a steppingstone to the high court.  In 1986, Bork was passed over
for a younger colleague when Reagan named Judge Antonin Scalia (R-Fascist) to the Supreme Court. A year later,
Bork’s turn came when Justice Lewis Powell, the swing vote on the closely divided court, announced his retirement.

Democrats, led by Sen. Edward Kennedy, launched an all-out attack on Bork’s nomination,
saying he would set back the cause of civil rights, women’s rights and civil liberties.

Reagan was an idiot to nominate someone as divisive and draconian as Bork,
but what else would you expect from an idiot like Reagan?

Then Bush the Smarter nominated Clarence "Slappy" Thomas,
who was a far worse choice than the backwards, racist Bork.

Confederate flag banned in Tejas
Central Tejas school district takes the step

Link

A Central Texas school board voted Monday to ban the display of the Confederate battle flag
on district property or at district-sponsored events.

Hays board members, on a 5-2 vote, amended the student code of conduct to ban the flag,
which formerly was displayed with the Hays High School Rebel mascot. The ban also covers
any imagery deemed to be racially hostile, offensive or intolerant.

The action comes after students wrote racial slurs and urinated on the door of a black teacher's
classroom in May at Hays High. The school is in Buda, 15 miles south of Austin.

Boy, they love their racism in Texas.

They'd give anything to fight the Civil War again.
They want Black Americans back in chains and they'll eagerly kill to get what they want.

"Ban All Guns Now"
says a dreamer than nobody will listen to

 Link

Nobody needs to have a handgun in America.
Nobody needs to have guns in their home, period.
That should be the starting point for any discussion about gun control in our insanely murderous society.

Any other position is equivalent to arguing, as "moderates" did in the 1850s, that we ought to slowly
phase out slavery, that even though everybody "knew" Negroes were clearly inferior to whites,
slavery no longer made sense.

Slavery was never right. Nor is putting WMDs where any person can effortlessly get them.

Sir, which fairy will wave the Magic Wand and make your wishes come true?

You think America is ready for another Civil War?  because that's what you're trying to start.

BTW, owning guns doesn't make me a slave-owner.
Do you think insulting the people with the 300 million guns is a good way to kick this off?
How many millions of children will die if the "Ban all guns" movement picks up steam?

At least you had the sense to get to WMDs before your excerpt ran out. Now that's something
reasonable people might agree on, but saying "Ban All Guns Now"  is a great way to start a
wildfire that could make 1861-1865 look like the good old days.

Subject: your art auction

Bart, I think you should start the bids with a minimum.

I think starting with a minimum bid of $50 each would be reasonable
otherwise someone could bid $1.00 and come away with a piece of art
that would cost more to send to them than what they paid for it.

It would be nice if you got enough of a donation to make a difference.
 Steve

Steve, I think that's a good idea.

We will start the bidding at $50.

Bart, there are prob a lot of artists that visit your site….
How about if we each donate one pc of work for you to auction off?

A photo print……or a sketch…. could be a good way to raise some $$$$$$$$ for the site.
I wish I could send cash but biz is slow and I have 3 kids to put food on.   ha ha
  Mario the Photographer

Mario, that's a good idea.
The artists would get some exposure, too.

Click  Here  to see  Auction Number One.

I'm doing something wrong but I don't know what it is - anyone got any ideas?

Subject: No Art Auction on EBay

Good god man, don’t do that!  Lolz   They’ll republican your profit.

It’d be so much easier and better for your bottom line to do a silent auction
Just setup a page with the pictures of things available for auction.

Link to the artist’s site so the bidder knows we aren’t liars and TeaBaggers.
Post an end date to bidding.  Post a link to your email that fills the subject line
with the name of the artist (so you know what they are wanting).

Have people email directly with a bid.

At the end date, the biggest number wins.
They pay you, you email us, we ship.  The end.

Ebay can suck it.  I hate Ebay.

Thanks to Kathy!

The Year of "Our Savior" Obama
  by bitter loser Brent Bozell

  Link

The year 2012 was defined by the calculated re-emergence of Obama worship, no matter how
obvious his failures in office. After his re-election, Jamie Foxx said in a tribute at the BET Awards
on November 25: "First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior, Barack Obama!"

Hey asshole, that's what's called a joke.

And BTW, the voters chose Obama with all his "failures" because you nominated
a racist, empty suit who couldn't beat a Black guy with 8 percent unemployment.

Subject: Fiscal Cliff

Rant!!
I am so very angry at the reports leaking out from the made up Fiscal Cliff negotiations.
It appears Barry has proposed cuts to Medicare and Social Security as part of his negotiation.

Let me make two things clear, Social Security and Medicare do not contribute to the National Debt.

Medicare and Social Security are not entitlement programs, we, the working stiffs have paid for
these programs throughout our working lives.

I have only paid the max to social security a few years in my life, but over 39 years, I have paid
plenty and I am not yet done. If I had invested those funds, they would be worth much more than
the meager payout of S.S. Now, though I have paid more than I will ever receive, even without
interest; I have to swallow a lower payout so people making millions can still have a tax break,
though taxes and S.S. should never be discussed in the same phrase.

... How angry am I? I have been paying into these programs without choice for almost 40 years,
without any say so on investments, payouts or anything else. Government mandated programs that
I could not opt out of, had to pay and had a guaranteed benefit as promised by the government.

How angry should all citizens be? Let’s not be angry, let’s just wait till the deal is officially
announced and we are all officially screwed. Why make a fuss now?
Barry, what the F@@K?

I and millions more voted for you twice.
How can you betray us, steal our money and give it to the Wall Street greedy?
When will Americans once again have a choice between a true democrat and Wall Street?
Will we always have to choose between Wall Street light, “Barry” and Wall Street hard core,” Mitt”?

What kind of country are we living in? Serfs will soon have to obey their king be it Republican light,
aka Democrat subservient to wall street and multibillionaires that never have enough, or Republican hard,
aka tea party numbnuts with no common sense, no sense of history and NRA lifetime members,
America First, screw everyone else.

Is picking the least worst evil what we have been reduced to?

Gifts for everyone on your list

Where is the Leadership?
by former Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm

  Link

In June 1944, around 150,000 brave men were asked to storm the beaches of Normandy.
At risk to themselves, they accepted the challenge on behalf of their nation and the world.
They were heroes. They were leaders.

Imagine if we had leaders today with as much courage as each of those soldiers had.

This gun debate, the fiscal cliff, and frankly all important and difficult issues demand leaders
willing to be uncomfortable. Willing to lean into an oncoming storm rather than be blown along with it.
The men at Normandy risked their lives for what was right. Our politicians could at least risk their campaign donations.

It is easy to avoid tough decisions, to sidestep challenges, to shirk your responsibility. So easy.
If you're an NRA legislator, just avoid going on the Sunday shows and hope the holidays make
everyone forget about it. If you're a pledge-signing Republican, hope enough of your colleagues
to vote for compromise. If you're a no-way-never-change entitlements Democrat, hope that
enough Republicans take the bullet for you.

Honorary Mystery Celebrity - Who is this?

He's Jimmy Carter IV, the guy who uncovered Thurston's 47% video
which probably swayed the election over to Obama, who might've lost.

Jimmy said he got tired of FOX and Rush and the right-wing using
his grandfather as the example of failed, disasterous president.

Reminder: Carter was a "failure" because he refused to reward the Ayatollah's terrorism.
Reagan rewarded
the Ayatollah's terrorism with deadly weapons from the future - fuck him.
