Crazy Joe Walsh vs Evil Rove
I love the idea of a GOP civil war

  Link

Former Rep. Joe Walsh, (R-"You Lie!") is forming a super PAC “to support freedom-loving
conservative alternatives” and to fight back against a Karl Rove initiative to keep unelectable
Tea Partyers from winning primaries.

ha ha
Walsh is fighting to keep unelectable conservatives in the race - I love it.

Walsh tweeted:   I'm forming a super PAC to support alternatives to @karlrove on FOX

He wrote on his Facebook page that “if we had listened to Karl Rove in 2010, there never would
have been a congressman Joe Walsh. Rove thought openly Teabagger Walsh couldn’t win,” wrote
Walsh, who lost his seat in 2012 to Democrat Tammy Duckworth, proving Rove right.

I sure would like to see Lefty bloggers throwing gas on this GOP civil war fire.
I think a 10-15 year GOP civil war is just what that party needs to cleanse itself.

It's our gift from Baby Jesus.

Texas Approaching Hell
Drought turns red state crisp

  Link

Texas continues to suffer a serious rainfall deficit and is on track to experience the
second-worst drought on record, the state climatologist said Tuesday.

John Nielsen-Gammon told a House Committee that most of the state is still in extreme
drought and the forecast tilts toward drier-than-normal conditions through the spring.
For some parts of the state, the current drought may end up being the worst ever recorded.

"No corner of the state has been spared dry conditions, the drought persists at historic levels,"
he said. "In summary, 2011 was about as bad as it gets for agriculture, but it is these multi-year
droughts that strain water supplies and there is still a good chance this will end up being the
drought of record for most of the state."

Even when the drought makes Texas uninhabitable
they will STILL say the planet is NOT getting hotter.

Subject: Boy Scout faith

When I was a scout leader, (Cub and Girl), many faiths were represented.
One of my Cub Scouts was a Zoroastiran and one of my Girl Scouts was a Buddhist.

Maybe things have changed in the last 20 years but to my best recollection,
all that was required was faith in a higher power.
  Diane L

I'm not arguing with YOU, but there is no "higher power."
People who need a higher power have been taught they can't make it on their own.

That's self-defeating, illogical and false.

If they need a way out, they could claim Mother Nature is that higher power.
I'd be OK with that.

Who's not on Obama's 'Kill list?'
  by David Sirota

  Link

Last month, America saw in graphic detail how the destructive notion of Too Big to Jail
means for an executive branch that refuses to prosecute a single banker connected to the
financial meltdown. Today, with the release of a secret Justice Department white paper
about the president’s so-called kill list, we are learning about another radical jurisprudential
notion being pioneered by the Obama administration. Call it Too Big to Curtail.

That is a really, really, really, really stupid way to start a conversation on drones.
I'm not sure "an honest education" is what David Sirota's trying to sell me.

That’s the most accurate label to describe the machinery of the government’s ever-expanding
drone war. As the white paper asserts, that war — which is likely creating more terrorists
than it is neutralizing — cannot be curtailed by laws or the Constitution.

I had to do it.
I clicked on that link to see what the proof was that Obama's policies are "likely" creating
more terrorists than it is neutralizing and it's another goddamn opinion piece by David Sirota.

ha ha

Sirota offers "proof" that's really a previous Sirota opinion.

This, after Sirota did the things he did to get Obama elected.
I recall what Billy Shakespeare said about fury.

Therefore, the argument goes, the president no longer merely claims the power to detain and
torture people without due process, nor does he merely claim the power to execute American
citizens without indictment or trial. Those extra-constitutional powers, which only a few years
ago were seen as utterly illegal, are quaint compared to the new assertion that the president can
now do all of this without any concrete intelligence suggesting a citizen is linked to terrorist activity.

Maybe he had a point buried under all that bullshit but I failed to find it.
I was so distracted by his rhetorical IEDs, it was hard to pay attention.

Was his point "Drones are here, but we shouldn't use them?"
That'd be stupid.
Wouldn't a better point be, "Why are we at war?"

We're going to have the upper hand on drones until they get drones.
I suggest we start working on a really good anti-drone net.

If only Sirota's goal had been to educate... but no.

His goal was to be cute and he failed.

FOX to Morris: Buh Bye
All of his predictions were wrong

 Link

Fox has cut ties to Dick Morris, the nutjob with a track record for predictions that didn’t pan out.

The lying toe-sucker made headlines this fall when he predicted a landslide victory for Mitt Romney.
The prediction was panned at the time, when even the best estimates for Romney showed a close race,
and many rightly believed that Barack Obama was pulling away.

Morris was seldom seen on Fox News after his big prediction for the election fizzled.

In a time when election predictions were growing more accurate — ONLY Nate Silver got it right,
Morris’ partisan predictions had an dwindling audience.

Election predictions were NOT accurate.

America's dirty, lying whore press yelled "photo finish" until
Obama racked up 110 more electoral votes than Dog-on-Roof.

"Election day afternoon, they told me I'd won!"

Bart - The NRA isn't the NRA anymore so it should be called by it's real name, the John Birch Society.
Which is basically what the entire Republican rightwing nut farm has become.

The so-called moderates like Peggy Noonan and that crowd are like the Nazi-sympathizers in WW2
who sipped their gin while the bodies piled up. But the media are forced to treat everyone to the left
of Hannibal Lecter as a legitimate political actor and given equal time and what's really galling - respect.

Time to flush these cockroaches into the light and keep them there till they dry up and blow away.

Going to Alaska

Mrs Bart has always wanted to go to Alaska and Hawaii.
Thanks to Scott H (Don HO) we got to Hawaii in 2005 and we thought we'd
better go to Alaska before I have to drag an oxygen tank behind my wheelchair.

We bought tickets last year but we kept running into reasons why we couldn't go so
we're trying once again to go - and we're Alaska newbies. Astrocat says March is the

best month for aurora viewing and the weather isn't always freezing - hopefully.

I heard Alaska had something called Matanuska Valley Thuderfuck
but I'm a journalist so I can't say it exists because I've never seen any.

Any Bartcop readers in or near Anchorage?

And some thing new we're trying:
Would you like to sponsor a portion of the trip?
Maybe a tank of gas or a few dollars towards a hotel or a ferry ride or something?
That would get your name in the sure-to-be-fun Alaska Trip Report.

"And the fourth night we stayed at Chena Hot Springs in Fairbanks
thanks to Greg and Fran and Ducks," type of thing.
