We'll miss you Bart, you were one of the people who made the Internet real and what it is supposed to be, a beacon of free speech and hope. Rest Well Old Friend...and to Mrs. Bart our prayers. in all directions that matter, Peace.

Most of us knew this day was coming, and I'm glad that Bartcop was able to be with us as long as he did, but it really pains me to know he's no longer with us. He probably has no idea what an inspiration he was to liberals all over the Internet.
There's an unopened bottle of Chinaco AƱejo I had been saving for a good occasion. Those plans have been cancelled. Tonight, a shot -- okay, two -- for Bartcop.

Bartcop.com has been a part of my political life for at least 15 years. I will miss his wit, anger, and insight. Thanks Bart for fighting so hard for so long. I'm going to miss you, but I won't forget you.

I've been following Bart since I stumbled upon his website years ago. I considered Bart a kindred political spirit whose opinions closely aligned with my own. Bartcop was always my firststop online. He will always be greatly missed here in Oceanside. RIP brother

I loved setting up his recording studio. I loved getting BARTCOP RADIO off the ground and being a part of the shows.
But I loved the fact that he lived EPICALLY.
Farewell friend.

Before he was a failed bar owner, before he was a liberal blogger, before he even owned his first computer, he was a close friend. #RIPBartcop

I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of one of the great unsung heroes of the internets. I have been a reader, and at times, contributor of Bartcop since 2000.
While we never met, we did correspond from time to time. I am so sorry, and to Mrs. Bart all I can say is that you have my deepest, most heart-felt, condolences.
A shot of Chinaco for you, brother Bart. Rest in Peace. You will be greatly missed!

I just read the news of Bart's passing and wish to express my deepest sympathies to his wife and family. I suspect that I am just one among a vast community of fans across the globe who now mourn his loss--who found this man inspiring for his clear and rational thinking, his decency, and his intolerance of fools, hypocrites, and thugs. During the nightmare of the Bush years, his reassuring voice of sanity was the one I turned to most often. His website was an oasis of reason, humor, and outrage at injustice. For someone who made self-effacing jokes about his IQ, he was one of the wisest people out there. And, oh yeah, he loved cats. He was one of the only bloggers I could find who consistently and ferociously condemned the Catholic Church for its crimes against children. Clearly, he was a man of great compassion, and for that alone his passing will leave a hole in our world. A shot of chinaco to a great man.
