Found my way here in 1997, courtesy of Patrick Farley mentioning RL-LNW in an alt.culture.jollyroger thread. I'm the one who submitted the (babelfished) translation of the German fan letter; I still refer to Bart as "the Beard Copilot". I stopped following the site when he turned war hawk after 9/11; now I regret the hell out of it.
RIP, Beard Copilot, and may flights of Chinaco sing thee to nothingness.

Met Mr. and Mrs Bart In Vegas a few years ago, that weekend is a highlight of my life. I enjoy his trip reports his political views. his take on life was enjoyable and exasperating.
Mrs. Bart, Peace be upon you and the rest of Terry's family in a sad time ...

I'm deeply saddened by this news... I feel I lost a close friend I never got to meet. My deep respect and best wishes to Mrs. Bart and other family. Your husband and his webpage gave me a lot of hope, a lot of laughs, and a lot of insight over a lot of years. Truly a man who cared deeply about the world and had a lot of love in his heart. This page was always, ALWAYS so very smart... I'll miss that, and I'll miss him. I'll miss him a great deal. Mrs. Bart - please be well. Ol' Bart will be one of the people I think of every time I try and put some good into the world. Cheers.

Shocked and saddened. He was nice enough to respond to emails and put my thoughts on the page a few times.
I had hoped for a return of Bartcop Radio, but it was not to be.
He was an uncompromising inspiration.

Thank you Bart, for the many years of service you provided to the thoughtful liberal community. Many minds have been opened because of Bart; no small task. I have been reading since 1999, and checking the news on the net will now be an emptier experience. You will be sorely missed, Bart. My condolences to Mrs. Bart. -David in Oregon

Bartcop has been my first stop for political news since the days of the primordial web, and this news is a big shock. At least I'm comforted that I'm not alone in my sadness at Bartcop's passing.

We will miss you, Bart. The net just darkened with your loss. Thanks for hammering some sense into us. You have built an army of hammers and we'll hammer on wherever and whenever possible.
Wishing Bart's family well, Hap.
