R.I.P. Bartcop! You will be missed by so many! I too will miss my daily Bartcop fix, he was a shining beacon in these crazy times. Hope is at peace in the place he needs to be. I will smoke a big fat one for him today! All the best to the Mrs., she was a wonderful wife to Bart and it always showed in his postings. He will me so missed! Many shots of Chicano shall be raised in the name of Bart. I learned so much from him!

I was an avid reader from near the beginning (1996?), until I lost the habit of reading political blogs entirely 3 or 4 years ago. Bartcop was a joy, an inspiration, a laugh, an example... a mensch.
Bartcop was a real American the way Thomas Jefferson and Lincoln were; he put others first, he was idealistic but tough minded.

Just wanted to add that I disagreed with Bart on the torture of terrorist suspects but I doubt there's anyone in the universe who I see totally eye-to-eye with.

I am shocked and sadden by Bart's departure. Bartcop has been a daily lunch break reading routine for years. No other site beats the mixture of honest liberal politics, humor, and fun. I wish Mrs. Bart all the best and encouragement finding a worthy champion to continue swinging the hammer.
