I have faithfully followed Bart's blog since 2003.There were many days when his words of wit were the only good part of my day.I will certainly continue my subscription and hope that someone out there may pick up the hammer and carry on.

I found Bartcop during the 2000 theft of democracy. He helped me through 8 miserable years. I would sit at my computer laughing and crying and screaming in rage - and there was Bart, like a brother, who encouraged the rage while making it logical and humorous. One hammer falls. I will keep swinging mine.

Mrs. Bartcop,
Thank you!
Peace and love,

Mark

In the early Shrub years you were one of the few places on the internets for sentient beings to reassure themselves that they weren't the crazy ones. And also to get good advice on quality Tequila.

Rest easy.

During these dark years of a brutally red Oklahoma, you made me proud to be an Okie, and to harken back to the rich progressive days of my youth there. Gutsy and truthful. I'll miss you deeply. Funny how I can't type 'him'. You're still with us, kinda like Tom Joad. RIP Bart. I need a shot of Chicano.

Hey Bart,

I am going to miss you. My heart is broken as I write this, but thanks for the memories.

How about the Tequila/Pokerfest in Las Vegas, we had a blast, and tasted some tequilas none of us will ever taste again. We've had some differences of opinion online, too, but it never interfered with our friendship.

I plan to keep my subscription going, hoping it will help Mrs. Bart a little.

Rest in peace,

Don, Pillar, Shingle Springs

I have been a reader of BartCop since nearly the beginning, back in the late 90's. Losing him is like losing an old friend.

A shot of Chinaco Anejo to you, my friend. May you and I be wrong about the afterlife, and I hope that you are relaxing comfortably in some sort of heaven right now. We will keep up the fight for you.

I didn't discover Mike Malloy until he started at Air America. I discovered Bartcop soon after. The first time Mike mentioned this site, I checked it out and visited often. Bart even included several of the memes I sent him over the last several months. Had no idea he was so sick. Today is a very sad day. As Malloy would say, though, let's "keep it lit." We have to keep fighting the bastards. RIP Bart.

Saddened to hear of Bartcop's passing. For the last 16yrs it has become my habit to troll this site. I will miss his ability to cypher repuglican BS and keep me laughing.
While we can only hope it's not too long before someone else picks up the hammer, let it be known that nobody swung it better.
